Faster and more agile than a regular Tie Fighter the Tie Interceptor was the elite star fighter of the Imperial Fleet. Possessing four laser cannons (one on each wing-tip) as opposed to the regular two the Tie Interceptor also had more firepower than a standard tie fighter making them much more effective assault craft. Unfortunately like the Tie Fighter the Interceptor possesed exactly no shields whatsoever and tended to explode violently if it so much as crossed the sights of an X-Wing. It still made that wicked screeching noise though.
