Because the EOS has a new body design, a dedicated Date Back the DB-E2 is required for date/time imprinting. The DB-E2 replaces the back cover of the EOS. It incorporates a Quick Control Dial and quartz auto-date imprinter usable through the year 2019. It is powered independently by a CR2025 lithium button cell.
