A range of monolithic 1A step-down (buck) voltage regulators that are high efficiency replacements for the more conventional 3-pin linear regulators. These devices require a minimum number of external components and are simple to use. Their design substantially reduces the size of heatsink required and, in many cases, no thermal management is required as dissipated power is low. Applications for these devices include: simple high efficiency buck regulator, pre-regulation for linear regulators, on-card switching regulators, positive to negative conversion (buck-boost).
