Swindon Town moved into the football league (div 3) in 1920. Having earned their league status, the club nearly lost itin 1933, 1956 and 1957 and had to apply for re-election to the league. World War 2 brought more troubled times for the club and during the war the County Ground was used as a POW camp. Pictured is Maurice Owen opening the scoring for Swindon Town against QPR in 1954.
