| WEIGHT 3.5lbs (1590g) | TRAVEL 80mm | FUNCTION | The Atom Race is coil sprung with an open bath oil damper. The oil damper constantly lubes moving parts to ensure smooth running of the fork. It has a High Speed Compression Valve (HSCV) has a shim stack on the valve that flexes open during hard and fast impacts rapidly so you get the full capacity of the fork exactly when you need it. It also means that valving has been lightened elsewhere so that the fork handles small bumps better and is less affected by braking. The open bath cartridge means that the cartridge is always full of oil so that heat can easily be dissipated. Rebound, low speed and high speed compression damping are also isolated. On the Atom Race Preload and Rebound are externally controllable so that the fork can be tuned both to the rider and the trail. A further feature is the ECC Extension Control Cartridge. This means that the rebound extension of the fork can be locked by simply turning the knob. Therefore bobbing on climbs can be reduced, aswell as steepening the head tube angle | CONSTRUCTION | The Atom Race features the Mag Powerwrap M Arch provides more than just the obvious aesthetic value. It wraps round the outer leg which means that steering is more precise and independent leg movement is almost entirely eliminated. It is made from lightweight magnesium which is also incredibly stiff. 30mm aluminium stanchions provide strength without hindering you with extra weight. Marzocchi also cryogenically press stanchions. This means that tehre are no bolts or glue in the integration between teh stanchions and crown - lighter and stronger - perfect! | MAINTENANCE | Maintenance on Marzocchi's is simple. Most of it is handled by the open bath system which constantly lubes moving parts aswell as keeping the system cool. The ECC cartridge increases bushing overlap which actually reduces wear. Bomber seals have a double lip design from a custom rubber to provide maximum resistance to wear while minimizing stiction. A 4" bushing wraps the stanchion to provide maximum load dispersion.
