Before the race you can make practice starts to estimate the time to the start line from a chosen position. Then if the official signal is given five minutes before the start set the countdown timer to five minutes and start it at the official signal. This way you`ll know exactly when to set off from your chosen position in order to cross the start line right on time. Once the timer is synchronized you can lock the synchro to ensure that the timer synchronization isn`t changed by mistake.
