After years of research Hozelock announce their new filter. Creative thinking has led to a removal of solid filter sponges to be replaced by a quantity of smaller cubed spon filters. The clever thing about this approach can be seen when it comes time to clean the filter - all you need to do is switch off your pond pump and give the cleaning handle a few turns each way. Inside your filter the micro sponges are displaced and bang into each other effectively dilodging dirt. Switch your pump back on
