Voted SillyJokes' favourite practical joke at the moment. You wind up the device with a key, hide it in your palm and then reach out and touch something. Just as your finger hits the microphone, TV or plug socket, press the button and a spray of little sparks flies from between your fingers accompanied by a sudden buzz. This is enough to scare the living daylights out of almost anyone and leave them thinking there is something wrong with the object touched. They will refuse to touch it. The Sparking Ring just needs to be rewound to reset the gag.
