Bento GonÃ§alves is the wine capital’of Brazil, and one of four settlements established in 1875 for Italian immigrants. Since their arrival, the Pizzato family have been cultivating vines. Initially they sold their wine to the local hospital, where it was deemed a palatable treatment for typhoid, but mostly the fruit was sold as a cash crop to the local winery, VinÃcola Brasileira. The estate has been handed down from Antonio, the original settler, to his son, Giovanni, thence to Nono Giovann (Barcode EAN=7898266930628)
