| Encore | Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar - Blueburst | Love the guitar, the package that came with it was awesome and im a self taught guitarist so the sheet I got with it helped me learn quickly. It looks so much better in real life and the picture doesn`t do it justice!!! Don`t know what I`d do without it!! | | Anonymous | 10/10/2007 12:03:40 |

| Washburn | D36S | I too have recently brought a D36s, and am also damn impressed...The sound is incredible, its well made, it suits everything from hammering out a tune (strumming), to finger picking. The tone is (to me) perfectly balanced. Easily one of the best guitars ive heard.. I think mine cost around £400, but it was worth every penny. I wouldnt ever get rid of it... | | chris | 13/09/2007 10:26:54 |

| Washburn | D36S | I recently purchased a D36S and was absolutely delighted with it. The quality of build and attention to detail is fantastic. As for the sound - well, it blows away my Gretsch 6012 (sweet 16) which was originally listed at£1195.00. I bought the Washburn for £239.00 incl. postage. Excellent value. The D36S is now discontinued so if you find one go for it. | | Anon | 05/08/2007 08:22:00 |

| Herald | Junior Classic Guitar | I think this guitar is brilliant for beginners. Very cheap to buy so if the person doesn`t stick to playing the guitar it is not such a big loss in money but great quality. Highly recommended for first time buyers. | | Little L | 19/03/2007 22:02:11 |

| Washburn | J12S | I`m not sure, but it may be a situation where this particular guitar is one of those rare instances in which everything went right. The price of this guitar in no way matched its quality of sound compared to many other much more expensive guitars I compared it to. It may be that all the J12S Washburns are of similar quality in sound, playability and workmanship. If they are, then there is no need to spend $1500.00 on a guitar that is no better and perhaps not even as good. However, it is always good to keep in mind that finding an excellent guitar is like a treasure hunt. You may look for many months and then come across something you were not expecting. This is what happened to me with the Washburn J12S. I was not in any way looking for a Washburn, but when I picked this one up just to give it a try and then looked at the price I thought it was too good to be true. I looked at and listened to every aspect of the guitar over and over again: perfect action, careful construction, sweet singing trebles, deep throaty base, huge volume - yet beautiful when played softly. I also have a Gibson Hummingbird at seven times the cost, but it is certainly not seven times the guitar. It is better, but really this Washburn is excellent! If it was the only steel string I had I would be very happy. I hope all the J12S Washburns are as good as the one I (very thankfully) got my hands on. | | Greg in Winnipeg, Canada | 02/01/2007 09:39:54 |

| Washburn | EA18 | My girlfriend Jennifer bought me my EA18T for my birthday. It sounds great both alone or plugged in. The neck feels smooth and quite nice in my hands. I sometimes feel its too pretty to play! I had Jennifers name put on the truss rod cover. | | Patrick Flaherty | 05/11/2005 09:29:33 |

| Washburn | WD32SCE | Perfect for the price. Very easy to play. Perfect tuning and very good mike (no noise and very clear sound). A rather light sound, but not sharp. Excellent with or without amp. Simply a bargain. | | Kurt Adamsen | 19/12/2004 21:49:02 |

| Washburn | D10S | This was one of those "spur of the moment" purchases that I do not regret.I hadn"t intended buying a guitar that day butI tried the Washburn D10s and liked it immediately.I tried a number of other similarly priced acoustics and for me, the D10S felt better, sounded and played better and I just had to have it. For anyone with a tight budget, try one. It has a good solid top too by the way and will get better in time. | | Steve Dawson | 11/09/2004 12:49:12 |

| Washburn | J12S | I just traded in my Martin DM for a used Washburn J12. If that doesn`t say it all...just read the review by Greg in Winnipeg. In short: large volume, deep lows, and sweet highs. I am a medium sized male, and the width of the neck was perfect for me. I gave up on Washburns long ago, and picked this one up to try just on a lark...and because of it`s striking appearance. The DM is a damn good guitar. This one is better. | | P.K. | 29/11/2007 09:15:10 |

| Washburn | D46SCE | I have owned this guitar for 10 months and I am still very pleased with my purchase. I have had no problems accept the occasional fretbuzz which is easily fixed by adjusting the trussrod. I love the grover machine heads, they make everything easier, the cutaway opens up more possibilities for range, and it sounds beautiful. I was also impressed with the stock b-band a-3 pick-up which makes live performance feel alive. I`m not sure about the technology in it, but it claims to contain no piezo crystals and acts more as a condensor microphone, amplifying the tone of your instrument (as opposed to just `picking it up`). For the intermediate entry level guitar i would definetly recommend this. The only thing i`m worrying about is a possible lead coating (it`s made in china). | | hart | 13/09/2007 10:31:32 |

| Vintage | Electro-Acoustic Guitar VEC500RB | I bought one of these two months ago, secondhand for £100. I already own a Tak. EN20C and an Avalon Gold. I wanted something decent that I could `batter` at a session. I`m amazed. Great value. Pick-up is more than adequate as I don`t need to use my Boss Equaliser pedal nor nothing. Sound and tone are very good for what is a cheap guitar. Gigged it last week and was more than happy. Buy one if you can get one for around the ton or slightly over. You will not be disappointed. | | ChuckHouse | 24/06/2007 10:26:33 |

|
| Ovation | Applause Electro Acoustic Guitar Outfit | It is a fine guitar, not up to the standard of the balladeer but far superior to many. With beautiful looks and better sound and amazing pick-ups, a definite must have for beginners to intermediates, unfortunately the frets tend to stick out at the edges of the neck at some places and the neck is slightly short and narrow but an exellent guitar. | | Guto | 19/03/2007 21:58:46 |

|
| Washburn | EA10 | A good all round guitar acoustic, but not the best electro sounds around. Good playability straight from the box but excellent after I invested in a professional set-up. Good clear tones with sufficient volume when unplugged due to the depth of the body unlike some of the `thinner` electros. Good service from Washburn when I requested minor spares such as the bridge insert which was sent to me free of charge. I would thoroughly recommend Washburn as I have never played a bad one.

| Yamaha | F310 Pro Pack; Acoustic Guitar | Good value and nicely built. Bright and tight with good sustain but not very loud. I would love this neck (which IS fast) on a Tanglewood body. The fingerboard will `feel right` to players experienced on electric. Very playable and could be a companian for life (its that kind of box). | | Davedee | 08/01/2007 15:27:17 |

|
| Ovation | Applause Electro Acoustic Guitar Outfit | A very nice guitar with high quality pick ups and goos sound quality. The neck is slightly shorter than most though with a shorter range of notes that can be played . Overall this is a good guitar and I am glad I bought it. | | D Shute | 27/08/2006 15:35:28 |

| Martin | Backpacker Steel Acoustic | After having read many reviews of this instrument, I decided to take the plunge anyway - at a point in my life where a good many long-distance trips are coming up and my 40-year old (hard to play and wonderful) Harmony Sovereign full-size Western Flat Top) is just too cumbersome to travel with. Many of the criticisms leveled by other users are certainly valid. It is a very small and oddly shaped small instrument with a proportionately small sound. It would, indeed, be easier to play if the saddle were lowered a bit and if it came out of the box as the manufacturer and designer recommended re strings - it does not. It is awkward to hold. All of that being said, I am able to honestly recommend it - perhaps because my old Harmony is even harder to play! I have never been spoiled by the experience of owning a really well made guitar (like a full size Martin or Gibson)- so, to me, it plays easily and produces a sound much like I feel it is reasonable to expect from such a small body. I have had it for about a week and am enjoying it a lot. Of course, it sounds best in small spaces, wired with thin gauge (bronze 80/20) strings and played with a thin pick.... something that is taking some adjustment on my part - having always used medium gauge picks before. Because the instrument is disproportionately heavy on the tuning-peg end, playing it standing (pretty much a requirement) works a lot better with the strap tied to the tuner - rather than connected with the hardware installed on the neck side of the Backpacker`s mini-body. Otherwise, the tuning end is drawn by gravity making it harder to play than is necessary. The prices have come down quite a bit - partly, I expect, due to the poor reviews both here and at other sites. I paid $160. from SameDayMusic - shipping included. To paraphrase an old tune: `If you can`t play the guitar you love, love the one you play.` Attitude has a sound of its own! This does not require a theatrical suspension of disbelief so much as it necessitates realistic expectations and the ability to enjoy a good effort to create a truly portable Martin.

| Encore | EA255OFT- (Natural) | I purchased this item just to see what it was like for the price and i have to say i'm well impressed. It plays great as a stand alone acoustic and even better when amplified, once you adjust a few settings. The carry bag has no pockets and feels a bit cheap tho. | | Liam G | 31/03/2003 10:22:17 |
