In case anyone was wondering... it DOES look like the photo. Its very shiny chrome over plastic; not over metal. It is 70mm tall (so thats quite small). It has about 8, maybe more, different phrases which are spoken when you pull back and let go the Dalek. The phrases are loud, but a bit difficult (fuzzy) to make out. However, they are great fun, and some vary up to circa 8 seconds long. The voice is slightly drowned out as the Dalek rumbles along. Or you can just press the front underbase button and hear the sounds without any movement. The sounds are from the Peter Cushing film soundtrack and are pretty good. Some have backgound noise e.g. alarm bells ringing as the Dalek shouts `Emergency! Emergency!` as their world crumbles around them. More for big boys (like me) than kids - small parts and pretty fragile, Id say, but I wont be testing it to destruction. The head, eye, sucker and tiny zapper are all poseable (moveable) to some extent. Expensive, but its from a limited edition of 4,000. Mine was 1929. Expensive for what it is, but it was payday and I kind of got carried awa...
UPDATE - one-star durability rating is if the Dalek was in the hands of a 5 or 6 or 7 year old. No probs with it if its not attacked and if left to its own devices. Battery still going after about 60 phrases.
UPDATE - Battery still going after about 90 phrases. Attracts a lot of attention on my work desk. Mingled well at my desktop Xmas party - party-stle chrome suit, and just the right size for the Playmobil Santa, Snowman and 3 Kings partygoers. Tended to dominate the conversation, though.
