D-LinkDSL-924 Wireless 54Mbps ADSL RouterStunning router. Amazing for online gaming, never drops a connection. one issue i had was not the router but with the adapter supplied, the software is naf, but once it works once, it always works :). worth the money i paid for it from dixons, note i ordered the router online from argos, to collect at store. I then took my order for into dixons and said `Argos have given me this price, can you beat it?` they immediatly said yes and we will knock 10% off aswell which made me a massive saving. just a tip

Actiontec ElectronicsADSL Gateway (ADSL Modem/1portBrought this product over a year ago by computer consultant as I was having trouble staying connected to Broadband in my very remote area. BTVoyager 2100The easiest way to get wireless connectibility and it is superb, reliable and easy to use. Plug it in and follow the user plan that comes with it and your ready to go. I got it ready in 20 minutes and that was on an Apple Mac with airport. Also works fantastically with games consoles, plug in the ethernet cables and it does it all for you, no need to run things through your PC and mess around with internet sharing and firewalls, sorted. 5 out of 5Happy wireless user24/10/2005 14:06:21

DraytekVigor 2600If you are looking for an ADSL router you would be silly not to buy a Vigor router. They are suitable for home users and small businesses alike. I use 11 Vigor 2600Gs to connect all our home workers to our office by VPN and also to both Microsoft and Cisco VPNs. Configuration is straight-forward, they all work very reliably and do everything I have needed. The product does what is says on the box plus has a number of other useful facilities, such as enabling restricted Internet access for configuration. Documentation is adequate but backed up with detailed step-by-step examples. Don’t waste money buying a more expensive product or if you were thinking of something cheaper – the Vigor is well worth the extra. The icing on the cake – their technical support is first class they are exceptionally responsive and helpful. Who could ask for more?

NetgearDM602Simple and easy to set up. I use it for Win xp pro and Linux fedora core 3. If you use a software based filtering proxy such as AdSubtract, you may have to disable it before saving changes to this product"s settings (Such as ISP log-on username and port forwarding). Other than this, setup is a breeze. It took 5 mins to set up under windows and was "ready to go" as soon as I switched to Linux.

Prices vary widely from between the low low 40 quid mark to the high 70 quid level, so shop around for the best price.

NetgearDG814WOW. This is the best. It took literally five minutes to install and it works with both my PC's, my sons X-Box and my other sons Playstation 2. Documentation is brilliant but I cant say anyhting about tech support because I never needed it. 5 out of 5Anon02/04/2004 09:17:38

DlinkDSLG604TReasonably easy to set up although with the amount of settings the user can manipulate it may be a bit daunting for the inexperienced. I use the router with my MAC and my PC. It works well and is very reliable. The one thing I would say is that it is not that powerful. By this I mean the router is approximatley 20ft away (directly) and the best link I can get on the original aerial is about 15mb. This is fantastic if you only use it to surf but if you want to share streaming meadia for instance it can be limiting. I must say though the signal does have to travel through two walls one of which is about 2 feet thick. To overcome this I attached a -9db aerial to the back of the router (you can get these from e-bay). It is far cheaper than the wireless extender option although I do now use the D-Link D710 with this to get to the end of the garden!! With the alt aeriel fitted I get a strong 54mb link which never wavers. The security features of the router are excellent and easy to set up. I have used other routers but I always go back to using this one for relability and stability. Recommended. 4 out of 5Chris Godfrey03/05/2006 08:41:47

LinksysWAG54GSThis was easy to set up (It is worth reading around about set-ups if you are new to this as I was). It was bought as a package with the Linksys USB adapter and the first one had a lot of problems connecting. Essentially, it stopped working after a couple of days. Took it back and the new one worked first time. Still working after three weeks! It frequently drops the connection but reconnects quickly. If I did not have to have replaced it I would have scored it higher. 3 out of 5xon14/07/2006 09:08:50

NetgearDG834GTIt feels and looks cheap, the wires at the back keep coming loose, disconnecting me from the network. 2 out of 5Anonymous12/01/2006 10:32:32

LINKSYSAG241It was great at first, shame the firmware wasnt that good at the time. But after the warranty expired suddenly it didnt want to connect local lan at anything higher than 10M half duplex, and it wasnt the PC that was wrong as all PCs were doing it. Linksys technical support pointed me to more upto date firmware which is better but it didnt cure the problem. I suspect overheating problems after this length of time affecting the components, not very satisfactory at all. 1 out of 5empee26/04/2008 12:55:44

NetgearDG834GTCompletely agree, although ADSL says it is connected, no data is transferred, I have to reboot router 1 or 2 times daily. Looking for a new better alternative. 1 out of 5Darren03/06/2007 07:33:58

NetgearDG834GTI have experienced nothing but problems with my unit. Even after upgrading to the latest firmware, it regularly requires reboots.

Wireless connection is not reliable. I ask myself why I bothered wasting all the extra expense on 108Mb which doesnt work, when I could have bought a reliable cheaper alternative, or chosen a 54Mb one.

If you want a reliable connection, dont bother buying a NetGear one!

I have resorted to disabling the wireless feature of my unit, and dishing out more cash for another wireless access point to use instead!

In a word NetGear sucks!

U S ROBOTICS9003Unfortunately I bought one of these USR 9003 and after several emails with U.S.Robotics they finally admitted its not compatible with IRC (internet relay chat). A bit of a problem if you use IRC or any irc based chat room. Even with the firewall off IRC does not work!

Documentation is at best poor... online configuration is not all that either.. U.S. Robotics should be ashamed of themselves.. I only bought it because my previous modem (Sportster Flash) by u.s. robotics had been so reliable..

Do yourself a big favour and buy the netgear dg814 instead. Its just so much better.. and only took 3 mins to install.
