Alarm Clock Radios Buyers Guide
The basic concept of alarm clock radios is simple enough; they're alarm clocks that allow you to wake up to the sound of a radio station rather than a bell or a buzzer. Nowadays, however, alarm clock radios have reached a level of sophistication such that you can choose from a range of features depending on your own personal requirements.
You can, for example, choose to be woken not only by your favourite talk, or music, station on AM, or FM, but also on DAB ("Digital Audio Broadcast") radio, or by music from your favourite CD, if you buy the right model. It may be, of course, that an alarm clock radio is the only source of audio upstairs, in which case you'll be interested in the quality, size and its speakers. If telling the time and rousing you from your slumbers is more of a concern, look for radio alarm clocks that have large, bright displays that you can read without glasses or contact lenses and those that have a choice of alarm settings. A choice of settings means you can have one for weekdays and one, or none at all, for weekends. Remember as well that too bright a display may prevent you from getting to sleep in the first place; some radio alarm clocks have sensors that adjust the brightness of the display automatically according to the amount of ambient light present, or you may be able to do this manually.
