MaytagGC2225GEKBWe bought this fridge from the internet in Aug 2005, less than a month later, water started to leak from the filter. the engineer changed the whole bypass (filter) head kit in early October. Everything was fine for another 8 months and the same problem happened again. We are back to square one! Maytag has refused to admit that there is a defect of the machine. We have paid over £2000 for this fridge and was told that Maytag is a leading brand. However, I am deeply regret that I let my husband buy it and it was DEFINITELY not value for money. Oh.. one more thing, it`s a very noisy fridge. 2 out of 5Christina29/07/2006 21:38:50

BekoGL12APSBeko supply an energy rating A+ 476kWh/annum. (1.3kWh / day). Despite following precisely the installation and operating guidance instructions, my energy monitor cannot improve significantly on a consistent daily average 2.62 kWh. The economy icon is permanently displayed AND so mysteriously is the high condensation icon. Nice fridge freezer but consistently ~50% more energy demanding that their energy chart forecasts. POINT is that this information was very much part of the reason for us choosing this appliance. What is the point of the rating if it is not truthful? Daily records of power measurements and daily energy consumptions have been sent to BEKO as a check and an offer for them to check the GL12APS out, and we await a meaningful response Dec 10th 2011. I conclude therefore that if the device is fault free, it is twice as hungry as they let on. Rick Maidenhead 0 out of 5Rick Maidenhead10/12/2011

LGGRA207CUBAProduct is great. Easy access ice is available without having an appliance that needs integrated plumbing. Both `frige and freezer compartments are very functional and are the most space-efficient of the 11 side-by-side freezers that we researched and viewed in person. We bought this LG appliance in-store from Currys at 599 pounds. The cheapest on-line purchase researched by us was 569 pounds from Dixons. 5 out of 5Anon07/03/2007 09:08:04

I have not had any of the problems associated with the fan freezing up, and infact in the 5 years I have owned this fridge it has been totally reliable, until........ Last week the `automatic` ice cube maker stopped working. By this I mean that it no longer automatically tips the ice out into the freezer hopper. If I manually press the button under the ice cube tray it drops the ice out and then re fills OK with water, however it remains like this until I press the button again. Water works fine for drinking and as I said it fills up ice tray OK, so I am assuming it is the automatic sensor motor in the ice cube tray?? Contacted Samsung but they want around #90 for an engineer call out, so looks like I will be pressing the button to make ice for now!

SAMSUNGRS21DCNSi too have the same problem, fridge warming up because of ice build up on the fan. just had the thing in bits it appears that a current coming from the circuit board on the very top of the fridge is the fault, cause the fan does work! if you are going to have look behind the cool wall just under the light in the centre of the fridge make sure you defrost it first!! because you will damage it, the ice locks every thing together. when its defrosted it should come apart quite easy.this is a terrible product and i dont wish this on anybody. 3 out of 5ian fraughan01/03/2010

SAMSUNGRS21DCSV1/XEUI bought this fridge freezer November 04 and had no problems for the first year then had same trouble as everyone else on the web site first water would stop working ( this is due to the plastic water container at back of salad drawers freezing ) Samsung have replaced the whole back panel and the fan housing as they have said that there was a design fault so they have moved plastic water container about an inch away from the back panel.Fridge and freezer worked ok but at times fan would freeze I would have to defrost the unit and it would work ok but now the fan in the fridge and freezer are icing up luckily I have still got it under warenty, The engineer said to me That samsung have found there is a problem with the sensors for the defrost setting and they are going to replace them. Switching the appliance off will sort the problem but only for a short spell and then it will freeze up again. I hope this will help other people as I am delighted with the fridge freezer but dissapointed that this problem has started to develope ps it is the dreaded RS21DCSV1 model 3 out of 5Graham06/07/2008 08:27:56

AdmiralGC2224GEKFF is really good and keeps food fresh for longer. Real issue with the mechanisn that lets cold air through from the freezer to the fridge though. SAMSUNGRS21DCNSHi, we bought our Samsung rs21dcns 1 1/2 yrs ago and our water dispenser stopped working and we heard funny noises and our fridge stooped cooling as a result I`ve had a lot of food to throw away. What amazes me more is I`ve read so may complaints about this product where everyone has come to a conclusion that it is a design fault,Samsung deny it all, trading standards say that refrigeration should not cause major problems for at least six years and Samsung should do something about it.Apparently the fan motor at the back panel of the fridge could be iced up so I am going to check this out myself as I can`t get hold of any engineer and try fix it myself by making the drainage hole bigger. Fingers crossed but any ideas on water dispenser not working. 3 out of 5Delna Doomasia06/06/2007 18:09:18

MaytagGC2225PEKBI bought a maytag fridge just over a year ago. It stopped working on Thrusday night (Good Friday being the next day). It was great to see that the maytag office was closed and did not offer any operating hours, especially around Easter trading. So I was stuck for 4 days over Easter without a fridge. Then come the Tuesday, I call them early to make sure I get onto someone wihtout being put on hold. I then get told that I have to call another number for a local service company, and that maytag will not pay for any food spoilage. Awesome, cos it was my fault anyway for taking such a risk by buying their product. So then I call the local service company to book in a service call, because of course that is my duty to do such a thing and not a responsibility of maytag. Then the service company prouldy announces they can book me in 3 days later. Awesome cos I really dont need a fridge anyway for around a week. Easy to live without, especially when you spend 3 frigging grand on one. I then call back maytag to complain, they misunderstand the point as a phone operator would and continue to tell me everyone is treated equal. Great makes me feel better sttoge. so I continue to tell the operator, knowing I am wasting my breath, that is not the point the point I am making is maytag DEFLECTING responsibility of fixing their product by outsourcing to someone else they say they have `NO CONTROL OVER`. What red tape BS is that? are you guys for friggin real? Anyways, here comes the best part. I get paid daily, so if I dont turn up to work then I dont get paud. I call the service company in the morn to see the time of the maintenance call, they say early morn, so I think I will stay at home to look after the service guy ( I had previously arranged smoeone else to look after the place). I wait all morning and then call them back at 11:30 am to see what is happening, they say, oh he will be there around 1. great, so screwed over again in the whole process. I am definitely not getting paid today. Lets add it up thus far. 3000 dollar fridge no worky...food spoilage, no compensation couple hundred dollars..no worky for the day 700 dollars...hanballing excuses from weasel maytag rep`s priceless...no wait the priceless part is this. maintenance guy comes in, we start the fridge to see what is giong wrnog. yep you guessed it, the fridge started working. he cant do anything to work out why it was not working, so auf weidersen. I am left to wait unti it breaks down again and then when it does I should not turn it off, so they can properly diagnose. Mind you all of Good Friday I was, cleaning out the grill underneath the fridge, turning it off letting it rest and turning it on again etc etc...did all this (as per the manual trouble shooting), only to have this dumb ass yank fridge pull this on me. The best part is the ride with all the weasels who so gladly take my money and offer me nothing in return support when I am down on luck. Up yours maytag, may you slowly rot your good will amongst consumers and end up bankrupt like you make most of your customers feel when they realise they spend a lot of money on a product that no one is giong out of their way to support. 2 out of 5No to MAYTAG01/04/2008 18:46:44

SAMSUNGRS21DCSVWe have owned a Samsung RS21DCSV American Style fridge freezer for the past 5 years, it has been an OK machine, but we have now had two of them (one having being replaced under warranty due to a broken water/ice dispenser) - this has now broken on the new machine, and it seems that the mechanism cannot be fixed, but a whole new door needs to be replaced which just seems a bit, silly really. I have looked at the newer versions, and it seems that this mechanism has now been replaced with a more solid function - hopefully this new version will not brake quite so easily .... 2 out of 5Anon05/02/2008 10:52:36

SAMSUNGRS21DCNSWe have a RS21 KGNS samsung fridge freezer. same as the others but has a clever small door in the fridge for getting the milf out etc. GUESS WHAT. funny noise from fridge, sounding like a fan grinding to a halt, followed by fridge heating up. it now seems to be cooling, but clearly the cold air is not circulating, so i guess the problem of food in the bottom freezing is going to happen. reading these reviews i may not bother phoning samsung. Can anyone tell me how to get at the fridge fan, as access fronm the back is only to the compressor etc at the bottom of the unit, yet this is clearly a fridge only problem? of course its now a year out of warranty as well. 2 out of 5fed up mick of coalville13/09/2007 10:30:56

SAMSUNGRS21DCNSI like many others have experienced the ice build up problem with my Samsung. I have now found out that the problem might be the drainage hole is too small and freezes over causing the fridge to overheat. I have a Comet engineer coming out so will ask him if expanding the hole may solve the problem. Fingers crossed because I actually really like the fridge and do not want to have to get it replaced. Although if I do get it replaced I will be doing so FOC as I have only had it for 6-7 months and as it is not fit for purpose I should not have to pay to get it replaced. 2 out of 5Jonathan Baker18/05/2007 18:12:30

SAMSUNGRS20CCMS1Hi there - unfortunately agree with other posters. My fridge broke down 2 years and 2 months in. After a horrendous wrangle with Samsung (worst customer services ever) lasting months fridge was replaced. Now, 2 1/2 years later exact same thing happened again. Clearly a terminal design flaw. SAMSUNGRS21DCNSAbsolute bag of junk bought this in july 2005, luckily i took out an optional insurance policy with currys. Had an engineer fit new fan and cooling back plate to fridge in march 2008, August 2008 and the freezer has went off, water all over floor no ice, no water and then the fridge started making a loud noise, called out samsung who done nothing, called currys who tried to fix problem but eventually wrote it off and I can now get a replacement. trouble is what do I get. SAMSUNGRS21DCNSI have the same product, same problem and same extrordinary response from Samsung Help(?)desk. Will never, ever touch a Samsung product of any type again - total joke. The water failed 4 months within warranty but I faled to recognise the importance of reporting the fault there and then, thinking it was just a clogged filter. 5 months later the fridge iced up and showed warm at the top (fan failed) and Samsung didnt want to know, denying it is a design fault. What worries me is that we all face similar problems with hi tech so called `low energy` products which simply do not last and are not sustainable. It has broken down twice now and damaged all food in fridge and freezer. Customer service is shocking! SAMSUNGRS20CCMS1I bought a Samsung American-style fridge freezer from Comet. It was great for 2 years. I was so pleased with it. Then at 2 years and 2 months old, food in the freezer thawed, especially noticeable with ice-cream. I contacted Samsung who told me to turn it off for 24 hours, this I did, worked for a while and food thawed out again. Freezer temperature varied between 0 - +4. Fridge was working OK so for several months, we managed with just the fridge. Then suddenly the fridge temperature jumped to +8 - +13, so we started using the freezer as the fridge. This fridge freezer is a pile of junk and I would not recommend anyone to buy it. Neither Samsung nor Comet want to know about it. This item cost £800 and lasted just over 2 years. Previous fridge-freezers have cost under £200 and lasted me 8 years or more. 1 out of 5Talltraveller21/03/2008 13:21:16

SAMSUNGRS21DCNSSadly having developed the same problems as the rest of you (See below) i also contacted a local repairer to be told he didn`t touch Samsung fridges and my nightmare is just beginning!! Contacted Samsung service department today who were unhelpful at best and down right rude at worst ending up with the so called technical adviser just hanging up on me! They did give me a contact number for an out of guarantee repairer who will be contacting me (no doubt to quote me an extortionate price for the repair) While awaiting the call i have looked the fridge up on the Internet and am shocked at the amount of reviews about this product all stating the same story. I am thinking of having a look myself as i have had the back off to access and de-ice the fridge and fan unit on a regular basis, but what part to change? The fan, thermostat or make the bung hole bigger? Does anybody have some definitive advice please? In the mean time if you are thinking of purchasing a DC21DCNS just read the reviews below and you will have your answer AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!! 1 out of 5Simon Bailey04/02/2008 10:01:59

SAMSUNGRS21DCNSSame problems as everyone else, fridge section started buzzing at the back, then stopped buzzing, since then temperature in fridge is 14 degrees instead of 3. Will have to try and take it apart and mend it myself. I intend to contact trading standards about this - I will print of this page and give it to them. I suggest you all do the same. I loved this fridge/freezer before this problem! DO NOT BUY THIS FRIDGE! 1 out of 5Angie11/12/2007 13:21:02

SAMSUNGRS21DCNSSame common mode fault; freezing up followed by unit failure. Purchased Sep 2006, Engineer and hairdryer managed to fix the `buzzing` in Dec 2006. Following the engineers advice I`ve been careful to frequently defrost the unit since then. Now it`s 14 months old, yes just out of warranty; the water dispenser failed. I did a full 48 hour defrost but now fridge doesn`t work. Called Currys, who diverted to Samsung; whose helpdesk analyst(Kirsty)was very helpful. Engineer now awaited. 1 out of 5NotMadeToLast29/11/2007 09:15:09

SAMSUNGRS21DCNSSame problem as everybody else. Bought RS21DCNS in 14.05.2005, so just out of warranty and no help from Samsung whatsoever. I remember a batch of them being sold off in Comet, Curry`s etc at the time we bought ours. I can see now why they wanted to get rid of them. Need some advice on how to clear Bunghole and entry to the fan housing. 1 out of 5Alan Lyon02/11/2007 10:38:42

SAMSUNGRS21DCNSI have had the same problem as most of you. Just after warranty the fridge stays warm and the water does not work and there is a build up of ice. I have been on to Samsung and they will not help at all because it is out of warranty. Contacted Littlewoods where I bought it from and quoted the Sale of Goods Act which says that these appliances should last for six years. They sent round an engineer and he said I needed a kit which would cost in the region of £600 (sure it does not cost this much but he must of included his time). Littlewoods have offered me a refund of £570 which is not what I paid but have taken off a usage fee. So from June to August I have no fridge an now I have to get a new one and dispose of this one. Good luck to the rest of you 1 out of 5Anon15/08/2007 11:04:05

SAMSUNGRS21DCNSJimmy, The Samsung Euro Service Centre Number is 0870 242 0303. I phoned yesterday with exactly the same problem - we are 3 mths out of warranty and they simply gave me a number of a samsung engineer in the area. Not very helpful. Anyone know if Kev Reid finished his step by step defrosting the circulation fan guide. I think this would really help me. Is this is the fridge section rather than the freezer? 1 out of 5Emsbott10/08/2007 21:11:55

SAMSUNGRS21DCNSFine when it works! No problems up until last week. Fridge and freezer temperatures way out (some reading up 20 degrees!). Food defrosted and spoiled and situation made worse by the fact that we have a new born baby in the house and we need to keep milk in the fridge and freezer. Product out of warrenty so Currys not interested. Has anyone got a contact number for samsung customer services? The bung hole thoery could also be tested - where can you find this in the fridge?? 1 out of 5jimmy05/08/2007 08:21:26

SAMSUNGRS21DGRS1/XEULoved it to start with. Like so many other people on various forums, it has developed a problem with the fridge cooling unit. I don`t think I`m being unreasonable to expect an appliance to last longer than 2 years. Come on Samsung-get your act together replacing fridges every 2 years is hardly environmentally friendly not to mention the financial costs! Please avoid Samsung! 1 out of 5Bevip26/07/2007 18:24:25

SAMSUNGRS21DCNSI’ve had to dismantle the cooling fan assembly at least 6 times in the last 8 months to defrost the ducts around the fan. It has to be a design fault in the layout of the ducts that’s causing the freezing. I’ve tried running the fridge at different temperatures but no change. My advice is don’t go near Samsung for fridges… Their so-called help desk is useless and a complete waste of time. 1 out of 5Roy20/07/2007 18:47:15

MaytagG32026PEKWWe have a Maytag fridge freezer - not this model. Maytag customer service is consistently appalling - our call was first booked on 2nd Maytag and we got the final fix today on 16th July. Maytag does not employ its own technicians but employs service agents and has scoured the country for the worst. For all the money I have spent on the Maytag fridge freezer since buying it in late 2000 I could have had 3 Samsungs. 1 out of 5Paul20/07/2007 18:46:27

SAMSUNGRS21DCNSI have had exactly the same problems as others on this site with my Samsung RS21dcsv Samsung`s advise unplug it for 90 minutes if that doesn`t do it call a repairman. 90 minutes defrost will never get rid of the ice I found when I striped it down. It took nearly 90 minutes to melt the ice around the fan with a hairdryer. Then another couple of minutes to make the drain hole a little larger and then reassemple. All working well again. I guess I might just have to put a reminder in to my diary to do this every couple of years. I am putting together a step by step guide to defrosting the circulation fan on my Samsung fridge to post it on the internet for others. 1 out of 5Kev Reid14/07/2007 08:43:09

SAMSUNGRS21DCNSHave had all the same problems with my RS21DCNS, bought mine in April 2005, the extended warrenty company have written it off yesterday. so having been without the fridge for the last three weeks since the last engineer came out I will have to wait another week. No help from Samsung - no one answers the phone. Have had three new panels and a motherboard, and its only 2 years old! I wouldn`t mind but I did a lot of research at the time of buying it and still managed to get a bad one. 1 out of 5Julie24/06/2007 10:26:24

SAMSUNGRS21DCNSPurchased RS21NCMS in April 2004. After just 18 months the fridge fan failed and was replaced under warranty. Same part has just failed again, June 2007. How can Samsung justify making products with such awful reliability and then providing such disgraceful support? Having such an expensive part fail every 2 years is not helpful. Samsung customer service neither care nor are helpful. 1 out of 5Mike Medlicote15/06/2007 12:59:13

SAMSUNGRS21DCNSI also bought the samsung RS21DCNS a year ago and I am now experiencing the same problems as everyone else on here I believe this is a common fault with this item. The bung hole is to small and it freezes thus stopping the ice maker and water dispenser working, apparantly it is easily remedied you just have to enlarge the Bunghole :0( Samasung must think we are all F**king engineers. 1 out of 5Kev06/06/2007 18:09:17

SAMSUNGRS21DCNSDo yourself a favour, avoid this fridge freezer like the plaugue. Worked fine for just over 2 years then it all went pear shaped. Now have a fridge which has a temp ranging from 10 to 3 degrees, no water and very noisy. SAMSUNGRS21DCNSBE WARNED!!!! We bought this product in August 2005. we have had endless problems with ice developing around the fan, noise, the water dispenser not working and the temperature inside both the fridge and freezer sections rising (to 20 degrees!!)causing food to defrost and spoil. at least every month we are having to empty it and leave it switched off for 48 hours in order to defrost it (yes, this is supposed to be a frost free item) Samsung customer service are apalling, Currys refused to accept responsibility. SAMSUNGRS21DCNSBought the RS21WCNS version (water dispenser only - not ice) and pleased for first 22 months. Then, 2 months of warranty left, called Samsung to report noise in fridge section, caused by air circulation fan located behind the `cool wall` back panel. Eengineer arrived, replaced part under warranty and explained the replacement was a superseeded part in attempt to avoid ice build-up; this being the root cause of the fan noise. Parts only warranted for 90 days - I found out - when I called Samsung warranty again 8 months after replacement. Now, the fan intermittently operates. I`ve removed panel, defrosted with hairdryer (for speed) and determined fan is `sometimes` operational. Like another reviewer, I tried to diagnose problem and have come to conclusion there may be a main logic board fault failing to provide power supply to fan. When it does work the cool air is circulated - when it doesn`t, food in lower parts will freeze and often spoil. Samsung support are hopeless. The only service companies they can suggest wanted a) to know the part number and b) refuse to call out without advance payment. Samsung suggested I check Yellow Pages. I did; most local service companies will pointedly avoid Samsung. I have found stock of the rear panel complete with new fan - approx £90 incl vat, p&p from 01942 601604. I refuse to buy this part as I suspect there are other problems. Will likely purchase alternate product (LG appears OK). Have written to Samsung head office and will persue out of bloody-mindedness. My advice.....avoid Samsung white goods.

SAMSUNGRS21DCNSBought the RS21NCMS about three years ago. It worked great for about two years and then the cooling fan in the fridge started to make funny noises. It was getting ice in and catching. I have cleaned it all out. Now the temperature goes from 11oC to 1oC indicated on the front panel but the two thermometers I have put inside indicate a different story. Build quality on this unit is poor internally. Samsung (Un)help iine are useless. There techincal help couldn`t even tell me what voltage the fan used because `they don`t have access to that kind of information` (remember this is the technical helpline). I removed the fan and wanted to bench test it. Now I have to ring the 0845 number of the local `Samsung qualified` repair centre who never answer the phone. Because Samsungs lack of help I bought a new motor. However further investigation has revealed the motor seems to be working it just isn`t getting told when to switch on. Conclusion - looks great, but unreliable. Avoid - buy another make. 1 out of 5Mike T.25/01/2007 09:24:43

SAMSUNGRS20CCMS1This has broken down 2 months out of warranty. I have been told there may have been a design fault. SAMSUNGRS21DCNSBought one of these Samsung American style fridge freezers in mid 2003 and by the end of 2006 the small plastic hinge on the water dispenser `tongue` had broken 3 times. Even though Samsung produce a `repair kit` for this item they deny there is any problem and after the two year warranty they do not want to know. I lived in the States for many years with `real` American made fridges and never heard of this sort of problem appeared. SAMSUNGRS21FCSVordered a samsung rs21fcsv from curry`s - promised delivery by 11.30 on tues 13th june, cleared & defrosted old fridge as requested so they could collect- they didnt deliver on time, phoned several help lines & spent nearly 4 hours to be told they could deliver later that day, then after some time & many more frustrating calls on automated lines told that they cannot deliver for several days, meanwhile all the food was defrosting & spoiling, Curry`s are a complete waste of time, their customer services are awful & I would not recommend buying off them at all. Have just done a web search on both currys & mastercare their deliver & aftercare contractors only to find they have a really appalling record -
