just to let you know i paid by lloyds tsb visa debit card for the sum of £339.00 on the 4th august, only filled in the chargeback declaration form and posted it on the 5th december and have received full refund of £339.00 in my bank account today( 11th december ). Anyone who paid from their VISA debit card should be able to get their money back through the VISA debit chargeback facility. It is relatively unknown and most bank staff don`t even seem to be aware. I did this through the HSBC fraud department and after completing a simple form the £99 was re-credited to my account about 4 days later. I hope the responsible people at Argos Sports are prosecuted for this but I have no doubt that they will return under a different name, and probably do the same thing. |

same problem as most of you. Paid by debit card, received an order number by email and then nothing! No goods, no contact. this has to be a crime. Why aren`t the police acting on this and why do their adds still appear on the net. Is there no control on scams? |

Argos Sports Intersports - is listed in Harrogate and has the same woman on the answer phone message as Argos-Sports - it`s part of the same scam - PLEASE do not buy anything from Argos Sports Intersports!! |

I ordered a football table £399 - it didn`t arrive but my payment was processed by sagepay immediately. I emailed Google, Sagepay,Mastercard, Argos (the real one!)but it still took 2 weeks before the website closed. In the meantime many more customers have been duped! Why cant action be taken as as a problem is reported? |

We are UK Table Tennis, sole authorised importer of Cornilleau Table Tennis Equipment, and Argos Sports was a distributor of ours. They also owe us money for invoices dating back to mid September and we believe this is around the time they stopped transferring customer orders to their suppliers. Their website has now been closed down but if you purchased goods from them and have not yet received anything then I recommend you get in touch with your bank and local trading standards office.
Details of the directors of this company are available by searching the Companies House website. |

On some sites they claim to be a member of Intersport. Worth checking out. There is also an Argos Sports -Intersport in Harrogate. Maybe they`ve risen from the ashes there. |

There`s a repossession order on their unit found out today after ordering a basketball system last week. Luckily, so far no money has been taken from my account. Guess they`ve gone out of business. |

Just wanted to also add - I thought Argos Sports was a branch of Argos Retail (I suppose that is what they hoped people would think). They should never have been allowed to trade with a name they have obviously chosen to deceive people. I was going to order a treadmill for over £600 from them a few months ago, thank god I didn`t. |

I placed an order for a netball post on the 11th November - never received a confirmation email and thankfully no money was taken from my account. Looks like I`m one of the lucky ones - don`t know how some people sleep at night, and don`t understand how this can happen, these people should have the book thrown at them for theft! |

I finally came to the conclusion that I was never going to see the goods and contacted my bank. I paid by debit card and I have to say, they (LloydsTSB) have been brilliant - full refund on its way. I`m extremely tempted to telephone Asif Nazir (see answer posted by Guest on 20.11.2009) but think the might of the Lloyds Banking Group will fair far better than me! As for it being "sad" seing a business go under (refer to answer of 17.11.09) - this company has quite clearly had no intention of honouring its contracts with purchasers, but still continued to advertise products and accept payment - I`ll reserve my pity for a more deserving cause. |

Ordered a Portable Netball Stand 25th October, paid £81.00 and guess what - No Delivery and no acknowledgment from emails or telephone messages. Thanks to this site I will be joining others at the bank tomorrow and contacting Bradford Police and hopefully can obtain goods from somewhere else before Christmas. I hope they can live with themselves knowing how many kids Christmas`s they have ruined. |

Don`t really appreciate the sales pitch, I think we are more interested in getting our money back than looking for somewhere else to spend more money, rather have comments about us resolving this problem. I am in the process of claiming a chargeback with my bank against Argos-sports when I get their decision will let you know of the outcome. |

We have seen many customers purchase from us after having unfulfilled orders from Argos Sports. It`s an extremely sad business to see any company go out of business, competitor or not. If you are looking for xmas gifts and sporting equipment, please give us a try. We are a reputable Limited company who trade from the Harlow Business Centre. We have many Pool, Snooker, Table Tennis and Games Tables in stock for delivery or collection in person. Kind regards, Paul Smith. Sales Manager. Real Sports Ltd - Real Sports for Real Players.

I will ask my bank about the charge back, as it seems the only hope I have. |

Oh boy can I answer this question? Yep. We took delivery, which compared to others was fortunate and we paid £359 for it. However, the product was faulty and we went back to the item manufacturer who tried very hard to fix it for us, but we decided that it wasn`t safe and sent it back and asked for a refund. Since then Argos Sports do not answer the phone, they do not reply to emails, a registered letter was sent back to us as addressee gone away. Sadly we are out of the 120 chargeback agreement that someone left a message about as a way of getting Visa Debit to look into the claim for us. We`re gutted and out of pocket to the tune of £359. Can`t believe this is still being allowed to happen. Terrible. |

took £399 from me in August. Worse still the site is still up and running and so it looks like they are still ripping folks off. If the company is insolvent why on earth is it still able to take your money? |

I travelled 200 miles to the Argos Sports at unit 20 Listerhills Bradford. The company are in liquidation and have a bailiffs notice on the door dated 14th October. Please can all victims of this scam report it to Bradford police. They are unaware of the extent of this scam and need more complaints to make them sit up and do something. |

This should help you to make a claim with your bank; "Visa Debit Chargeback – The Facts Credit and Debit Cards, Visa Debit Chargeback The majority of us are now aware of the benefits of using our credit cards in terms of the protection it offers us in the event the supplier is unable to offer the goods and services we have paid for.
But did you know that you can also claim the money back if you have paid on your Visa Debit card? And unlike your credit card, which imposes a minimum spend of £100, you can claim back any amount of money.
The process is called Visa Debit Chargeback, and, as the name suggests, is a procedure in which the banks will ‘charge back’ the value of the original transaction directly from the supplier’s bank, and pass this amount on to you.
All banks who issue Visa cards have only recently agreed to process chargeback requests, and there is still widespread confusion over what it is and how it works. Therefore if you meet a dead end in your discussions with bank staff, persist. The facility is there for you to take advantage of.
Invoking the chargeback procedure
If you suspect your card has been used fraudulently, if the goods and services you bought with your card are faulty or if they do not materialise, then you should contact the bank who has provided you with your Visa debit card within 120 days, requesting they initiate the chargeback process. It does not mean you will automatically and immediately get your money back. It will initially become a ‘dispute’ in which the claim will be fully investigated by both banks before any money is returned". Sara |

UPDATE I contacted Sage, the company that processes payments for Argos-Sports and told them that the company are not fufilling their orders. They said that they can not divulge whether the company is about to go into insolvency (I didnt ask if they were) but they are no longer involved with them. They said that if anyone now tries to purchase something from the website, payment now can`t be taken. At least others won`t get ripped off. Sara |

Yes, I paid on the 14th of October £120 and can not get into contact with them and they havent delivered the goods. If you paid by visa you could be covered and in any event report it to your bank - mine have referred it to their fraud department. |

if anybody does find out anthing, please could you post it here, the £339(posted already below) that they took off me on the 4th august was actually my sons savings what he saved very hard for so i feel like they have stolen his money. |

I paid £99 for some goods 3 weeks ago and did not recieve them. After numerous emails and phone messages left I visited their registered office to find they have been evicted. It is an absolute disgrace that their website continues to trade and debit money from customers. |
