Summer InfantDeluxe Prenatal Heart ListeningBought this shortly after I found out I was expecting my first child. After reading the instructions etc it explained how many babies can only be heard after around twenty one weeks. I am now 39 weeks pregnant and am still waiting for this machine to work. I can place the sensor pad onto my tummy and even though I can see the baby kick through my skin (quite hard) the monitor does not pick it up!! It explains that hiccups may be heard - I can feel the hiccups however no sound is heard through the monitor!! A very disapointed mammy and daddy to be who feel like this product is a waste of money! 1 out of 5Disapointed Mammy20/12/2007 13:04:51

MotorolaMBP20 Video MonitorJust bought this monitor and so far we`re very pleased. Baby isn`t due until April so we havent tried it out with her but the image is good quality, not HD but good enough to see baby clearly and night time vision will be useful. The sound communication is very good both ways. I bought this from home bargains at only £49, I`m not sure we would have paid the standard £75-£80 that most retailers seem to be selling it for.0 out of 5Mumtobe07/01/2012

TomyDigital Baby WalkaboutI`ve owned this product for a little over a year now, I`ve had no interference problems and when you do you have to change the channels as some one else might have the same one, heat temp was always correct but for it to read properly it has to be upright and away from any heaters etc.. I recommend this product if you read instructions first you will love it too!! 5 out of 5CHARLY11/08/2009 09:27:43

AngelcareSound & Movement MonitorI got this model bought to me as a gift and found it very realiable, I knew that I could sleep at night and when I woke I could hear the tick I knew my baby was safe, it is very reassuring and at least we could get the rest as well. HiSenseBabySense 2For my baby shower, we received the BabySense V from my parents. It`s a monitoring system that detects the slightest movements, even those from breathing, to monitor a baby`s safety during sleep. Maybe I had heard too many stories during my pregnancy, but up until I received this gift, I was very concerned about how I would know if our baby was alright while she slept. I knew I`d be one of those moms who stared at her baby`s chest looking for movement, or constantly disturbed the baby`s sleep by feeling for breathing. After all of the scary stories about SIDS, I wanted to have an extra layer of protection that would allow my baby (and us) to sleep better. I was also concerned after stories of infant abductions were publicized during our pregnancy. It made me question so many things. Should we have a sign or balloons in our yard to announce her arrival? Should we spread the news more quietly? Did I really have to worry about someone coming into our home and taking our child? Having the BabySense takes away so much of that worry. I feel comfortable taking our monitor outside with me while I`m gardening during our baby`s nap, because I know that the alarm will sound if something happens or if the baby is taken out of her crib. I still lock the doors if I`m not right by the door, but I have that extra comfort of knowing that my baby is safe because of the BabySense monitor. My first thought after the initial relief of having an answer to my concerns, was how difficult is this monitor going to be to use and how well could it really work? Well, it is more than easy - place the monitor pad under the mattress, connect the cord to the monitor and insert AA batteries. The monitor is simple to turn on, and indicates that it`s functioning right away. We of course tested it before our baby actually arrived. We tried many different scenarios; empty crib, putting weight in the crib, placing our hands in the crib to add weight, etc. The alarm sounded when there was no movement, but didn`t sound when we had our hands putting weight on the mattress because we moved ever so slightly. Now that our baby girl is here, we use it every night and for naps. I feel so much more secure knowing that it will sense if there is a problem, even if a cold or fever causes her breathing patterns to change. It has allowed my husband and I, as well as our daughter to sleep more peacefully, and as new parents that is one thing you can`t always count on! 5 out of 5First Time Mom26/08/2007 09:34:41

PhilipsDECT Digital Baby MonitorI personally loved this product. Used it since my baby came home from hospital and still using for trips away and when baby is out of earshot. FISHER-PRICESmart Reponse Aquarium MonitorThe light is quite bright and at first I thought it would keep baby awake. I was wrong. It projects fish swimming on the ceiling, and baby watches it until fast asleep. It also turns itself on if theres crying, and you can choose between sound of waves or music. UnbrandedBT Digital Baby MonitorFantastic!

When we had our first child you could not get digital baby monitors so we had an Angelcare analogue monitor and at the time we thought it was fine. However with these digital monitors you wonder how you ever put up with the constant noise from the older analogue ones! If you are used to analogue monitors then it`s a bit disconcerting at first when you can`t hear anything until the baby/child makes a noise but once you are used to it you can really relax and enjoy your evenings.

Both units take standard AA batteries too so if you are on holiday you don`t have to worry about lugging the power adapters with you. The base unit charges the parent unit as well so you can leave it on the unit all night in your bedroom and then take it downstairs at night.

We found the batteries lasted about a year before the charge failed to last long enough during the evening and then you simply put some new regchargeable`s in - great!

TomyWalkabout Platinum Digital MonitorThe Tomy monitor was a godsend!! I had decided not to buy one as I live in a small (cosy!) house and thought it not necessary, but since I have set this up it has offered me total piece of mind that where ever I am I can hear the baby. The set up instructions are easy to follow and once you have charged it for the required 16 hours it is ready to go. There is no interference with the monitors and it offers clear sound even on a low volume. It provides a room temperature display which does not correlate with an existing room temperature I have, so the monitor temperature may not be that accurate. Although it has many other features such as a vibration option which is useful for when it is really noisy, I do feel that the other features are not really needed, it serves its main purpose as a good quality sound monitor and is simple to set up and use.

UnbrandedAngel MonitorThe sensor pad part of the system is great but we have had lots of trouble with the parent monitor and the sound quality. We often hear a clicking noise ( not the tic that you can set the monitor for). The monitor is highly sensitive to other frequencies ( cordless phones, modems etc). Overall I would reccomend the product because it definitely gives peace of mind to new parents. 4 out of 5Amy20/02/2007 18:26:04

PHILIPSSC475 DigitalI own one of the first models of this baby monitor. It works perfect. Only the battery management is very poor, it can't last during 1 night! It could be that this is resolved but that's a problem of this (first) model.

Tommee TippeeMonitor 6 with Sensor MatThe sensor mat was fantastic for the first 3 months, but when my baby started to sleep through, the alarm would sound two or three times during the night and my baby was still breathing, so it worried us for no reason. Our baby was very tiny when he was born so maybe that was why the mat worked better for the first three months as he fit on it properly. As he grew and filled out the crib more, the alarm would falsly sound. Also, the monitor has bad reception and batteries run out really quickly. 3 out of 5Kirsty07/08/2009 17:32:38

UnbrandedLindham Clarity Video MonitorGood but not great. I`ve tried so many baby monitors and can`t understand why there is not a great one out there! This one has no interference which is good (but this should be standard rather than a feature). The screen size is adequate except the picture on the box is impossible to obtain unless the camera is in the cot with the baby! Our little boy is very small in the middle and if he turns on his side we can`t really see him that clearly... and at the moment he is on the highest cot level. When he is on the bottom he`ll be even smaller. Also the receiving volume is adustable but the maximum is not loud enough for me. Cannot hear breathing, shuffling, coughs or general movements - only fairly loud crying which ~~I can hear without the monitor! Stand is a little flimsy but again adequate. The camera positioning adjustments could be better - you have to unscrew a plastic nut, move the camera then tighten the nut. Not ideal. Don`t want to take it back because at least I can see him ... but I do wish there was something better out there! Surely it cannot be that difficult to devise something that ticks the most important boxes. 3 out of 5Cinnamon01/02/2009 13:26:36

TomyWalkabout Platinum Digital MonitorI bought this monitor last week as The one I had (Bt digital baby monitor plus)I dropped the parent monitor and I couldnt get it working again. So I hurried into Mothercare and I couldnt find the same one so I guess I went on the thought you get what you pay for and this Tomy one was £99. Its ok, easy to set up the sound is excellent. The grumbles I have with this is when the monitor is on there is no lights or indication to see that it is on so you end up constantly picking it up and checking if its still working/on. The other one is the lights to show noise are not sensitive enough. If the volume is low the baby would have to be at really upset stange before you would know they are awake and needing you. There is a vibration alert but that means it needs to be attached to yourself. I dont think I would recommend this one especially at this price. My BT one is/was much much better but they no longer do this item and have now updated it. 3 out of 5Angelina, mum of 323/02/2008 09:49:58

TranwoGigaAir Video Baby MonitorBought it on e-bay but seemed new. A lot of interference. They say it`s a colour monitor but that`s pushing it a bit. TranwoGigaAir Video Baby MonitorI bought a Boots branded over 18 months ago. Worked well, however was prone to interference especially if you have a wireless laptop around the monitor. The picture quality was good. The switch on the monitoring device was rotary and would get loose and you had to open the device up to screw it back now and again. Definately needs a separate switch. Overall the device is good, however after 18 months of continous use, it has stopped working (can`t get any picture). It is over-priced and boots support is terrible. 2 out of 5Ans06/06/2007 18:09:14

I bought this product when I had my daughter Sept last year (only started using it in dec). TomyWalkabout 2500I bought this monitor as it seemed like it had some good features, which is true but it has more bad features than good. It has a digital thermometer and a night light on the baby unit, which I have found helpful, and my son likes the reassurance of the night light. The monitor is sensitive and you can hear the smallest sounds which is good too. That is where the positives end though. It has a series of different beeps meaning different things, ie it will beep once every second if the baby`s room goes above 25`C (about 80`F), it will beep three times every few seconds if the monitor loses comtact, and so on. There is no way to limit the volume of the beeps and if you are in the next room from baby like many parents` rooms would be, it is loud enough to wake the baby. If baby`s room goes above 25`C, which isn`t hard (I live in Ireland and if it gets that hot there, it can get that hot almost anywhere!) baby can wear short pyjamas, but the monitor will not stop beeping. Your only option is to turn it off or get an air conditioner! We recently had a series of warm nights (and 25`C isn`t that hot!) and we ended up having to have the baby monitor switched off, because the beeping was keeping him awake. The other problem I have found is that it chews through batteries like nobody`s business which means you end up having to always have it plugged in. I started using ling life energizer batteries in the parent unit (and keeing baby`s unit plugged in near his cot) and they were only lasting 2 days at the very most and that is not even having the monitor on all the time! I have ended up replacing this monitor and I am disappointed because it seems like it has some great ideas, I just think it wasn`t designed by someone who has children. 1 out of 5irishkiwi27/08/2005 11:02:16

PHILIPSSBCSC365Just tried this monitor and I would rate it the worst ever. Where the previous Boots monitor we had provides a constant link so sounds such as a baby breathing can be heard, with the Phillips it seems to only transmit the sound when it reaches a certain sensitivity. Although this sensitivity can be changed I found even at it's most sensitive it was poor. eg I put the baby unit in a room with a TV turned on, I pointed the units microphone to the TV (with the volume at normal levels) and all I got on the parent unit was odd seconds of sound not a constant stream.

Thinking the model was faulty I swapped it for another but it was just the same.

I had a summer monitor for my first child I paid £25 and had no problems. Wheather I have a dodgy one I wouldn`t recommend to anyone not worth the price. Save ur money and buy a cheaper one that has a better battery life on patent monitor don`t feel safe :-(0 out of 5kt12/10/2012

PHILIPSBaby CamI bought one of these when my son was born in 2006, and it has been used daily ever since. We have found it invaluable, and despite it recently starting to become a little inreliable I would definitely recommend it, as I`m not sure if the unreliability may be our doing and not a fault of the product itself. 0 out of 5HED27/01/2009 07:44:46

Summer InfantBabyQuiet Video Baby MonitorThe only problem with this product is you can pick up other monitors if used in the same street. Spookey if you are looking at someone else baby and not your own. 0 out of 5Anon03/01/2009 08:47:26
