the tiles did not fit in the plastic grid, had to return product, briddy hall.

I am sorry to say this version does not match the old version, the reason is when you put letters in the square on the board snd turn it to the next player the letters start moving about, this is due to the ridges at the edge of square have been made smaller. This seems to be a design fault.I only found out when I opened the box and played a game and I returned it to the sellers

I bought Scrabble Deluxe for my kids after seeing them play on a friends green edition. Its large sturdy tiles sat well in the elevated grid squares on the board - especially good for small fingers. The tile holders were sturdy, did not tip and had point scorers built into them.
Unfortunately this new purple edition has none of this. The tinny die cut board has low profile grid elevations which offer little stability to the light-weight small wooden tiles [the fact that they are wooden is used as a selling point]. Tile holders are light weight and easily tip. The simple point scorers are absent.
For the sake of change - presumably in an attempt to keep the consumer interested - Mattel has foolishly attempted to reinvent this product which had already evolved to a high standard. I would advise anyone wishing to buy this product to actually see an edition before hand.

Product is excellent - its Scrabble after all! Has built in turntable which is extremely useful. The grid helps keep the wooden tiles in place. Fairly light to carry - no complaints really!

I found this item to be exactly as described and I am happy that I replaced the basic version with this deluxe model.
One disappointment is that the ridges to hold the letters in place are too shallow so that they can still easily be dislodged through an accidental knock.

This is not as deluxe as you might hope, however it does the job. You are led to believe from all stores that this has a wooden board - it is plastic and the letters do not fit in just right. It is a game that we enjoy playing in our house and the quality of the letters is very good.

We bought this for our son at Xmas, but ended up using more than he did thanks to his XBOX 360. It got us through many hours of Xmas tv.

This item is cheap and plastic. I bought it for my partner as a present as we love scrabble, but was very disappointed with the cheapness when she unpacked it, its not like it looks in the picture at all. However at the same time, unknowing to me my partner bought me Super-scrabble. Buy Super-Scrabble instead, a very good quality item thats even better than normal scrabble.

An extremely poorly-finished so-called deluxe product, with nasty plastic parts everywhere you look. The worst insult is the horrid plasticky tile bag, which would have seemed cheap had it come out of a Christmas cracker. Thoroughly, unremittingly shoddy. Avoid.

DO NOT BUY SCRABBLE DELUXE
There is absolutely nothing deluxe about it:
The spinner is sticky
The Luxury wooden surround is cheap pine, stained badly
The racks are horribly tacky and cheap-looking
There is no scoring facility
The tiles look like off-cuts collected from the floor of your local carpenters
The raised surface on the board downt work - it makes the letters harder to place, but doesnt stop them moving around after being placed.
The only thing deluxe about this product is its name.
BUY NORMAL SCRABBLE INSTEAD
(or if youre really into scrabble, get a custom-made board)

A real disappointment compared with the old deluxe. The tiles do not fit into the raised grid, which is not sufficiently deep to keep the tiles in place. Plastic tile racks and plastic edge to the board. A waste of money!!
