can any dvd player fit a home cinema system? DVD players can be connected one of 4 ways;
Component Video - a three wire component cable, produces the best results but make sure both TV adn DVD player are compatible
S-video - Next best thing, most TV`s should have it.
Scart cable - most common in the UK, and will give a very good connection.
In general, as long as you have a common port on both your TV and DVD player, you should be fine. Agree or Disagree?

are complete home cinema systems any good? It`s really just a question of how much money you have to spend.
If you can afford it then home cinema separates are best as you can upgrade individual components as and when new technology comes out. For example if you had purchased a DVD Home Cinema System a year or so ago then you would probably not be able to benefit from the latest sound format - HDMI audio. This is a recent development which offers the same audio as that developed for the cinematic release of a film and is an improvement on 5.1 Dolby Digital and DTS.
Also if you have a PS3 then you already have a Blu-Ray DVD Player so you don`t need another one. Adding a Home Cinema Amplifier and some decent Home Cinema Speakers will give you a great setup to upgrade in the future.
Personally I would spend the largest percentage of your money on the speakers as a really good set of speakers should never need replacing. If you can`t afford audiophile quality speakers all round then get the best front stereo speakers you can as these will provide most of the sound. You can then opt for cheaper center, surround and subwoofer and upgrade when you can afford it.
Nest in line is the center speaker as a lot of the dialogue will come through this. If you prefer films with a lot of speaking then you may want to spend a bit more on this speaker initially but if you like action films or musicals then it`s not so important. Agree or Disagree?

i have just ordered a panasonic plasma 42 inch tv and want to connect it to a home cinema system with recordable dvd, can this be done? Almost certainly, yes. Any new plasma will have audio, hdmi and scart sockets. These should cover anything you need to connect to it. If you don`t have the correct cables they`re available from just about anywhere. If you run out of sockets then splitters are available. Scart splitters are cheap, hdmi were expensive but coming down now. Agree or Disagree?

can I use a blue ray player with an ordinary home cinema system? If you connect your blue ray player via hdmi lead to your tv , then connect an audio out from your tv into the auxilary port on your home cinema system , if you select aux when you use your blue ray player you should get cinema surround. Its a shame cmpanies don`t put hdmi inputs into their systems , as it would make things much easier Agree or Disagree?
