why my canon dc201 dvd camcorders cannot read the disc ? Occasionally, there are problems with DVD camcorders being able to read a disc to which they have already written. This usually happens with "double sided" DVDs, and I suspect may be due to confusion on the part of the user initially and that eventually the camcorder refuses to rcognise the disc at all. If your disc cannot be finalised for example, then it obviously cannot be read by a dvd player either.
Occasionally data may become corrupt owing to external influences (radio interference for example; some mobile phones have this capability).
A quick solution can be found by downloading a CD/DVD data retrieval program (do an internet search as there are several programs about).
With the DVD in your PC drive, run the program, which will be in "trial" mode. This will then tell you if it has been able to find the lost data. If it has, and you wish to retrieve it, then you will have to buy the program over the web. You can then save back your lost recording to your PC for transfer to a DVD if you so wish.
If this does not solve your problem, then further detail would be needed: make and type of DVD, whether single or double sided, whether the camcorder finalised it or not, etc. Agree or Disagree?
