The Pentax smc DA* 16-50mm F2.8 ED AL (IF) SDM wide-angle zoom lens is designed for exclusive use with Pentax digital SLR cameras and delivers the highest levels of optical image quality. This lens features SDM ultrasonic focusing for extremely fast and quiet operation in a housing that is completely sealed against water and dust. The continuous f/2.8 aperture is ideal for use in poor light conditions. For optimal convenience, the Quick Shift focusing system is provided, enabling the user to instantly take manual control of the focusing. The front surface of the lens is treated with the Pentax SP coating, which applies a special fluorine compound to the lens surface to effectively repel dust, water and grease and make it easy to wipe off fingerprints and cosmetics.
