VaxV-022We purchased one in 2007 as we have 5 Russell dogs, it works well except the catch tank is almost impossible to thoroughly clean out. I had to unscrew the suction channel and use a piece of wire to hook out the dogs hair. A little more attention to this problem and it would last a lot longer. The only other problem was the water spray jets they need cleaning out a lot. We don`t have wall to wall carpets only rugs, however we use it at least twice a week in the winter, or rainy weather [muddy paws] hardly at all in the `hot` summer [Dreaming a bit there]We are about to purchase another Rapide from Amazon online they seem the best price I haven`t checked out Tesco my first purchase. When my son brings around his two Russell dogs only then do we need to Hire a professional one from Homebase. Still it works out about #1 a clean before it is worn out the Hire ones are about #18 a clean. However not everyone is stupid enough to have 7 dogs in the house and a clean freak wife. vaxAll TerrainI`ve had nothing but trouble with it since I bought it. It broke the first time I used it on a full room-sized carpet. Sent it back, & Vax mended it. Since, I`ve done lots of quick or little jobs with it.It`s ok but not brilliant. Now, I am sending it back for the second time, within 6 months. Tried to do another full room-sized carpet, & its broken again. The brushes stop turning. Quite frankly, its huge, heavy, useless, trouble, & I wouldn`t buy another, ever again! I want my money back 1 out of 5kpnut22/07/2009 12:48:34

VaxV124AI have always been against carpet washers as all the stories say after awashing a carpet they look limp and get dirty quicker. I have 3 grandchildren under the age of 5 so I often have spills etc, I decided I would buy the vax 124v, I am so pleased with it. I have cleaned my carpets a couple of times and they look great. I would recommend this vax model. 5 out of 5Mrs L Green07/07/2009 08:45:54

Bissell1694EI did so much research on carpet cleaners and decided to check them out instore before buying. Im really glad I did because you can see the mechanics of how it works (changing the tank etc) plus the trigger on the handle is really light to use on this Bissell whereas on the Vax which I was also considering, the trigger is much harder to depress (It wouldnt be good for your forearms or if you have a tendency to tennis elbow). You definitely need to fill the chamber slowly or it bubbles up too much. I needed to refill the chamber twice for a 14 x 12 lounge, but it was simple to do so I didnt mind. The weight of the machine is perfect at 8.6kg and the 800w perfectly powerful to do a good job. Any less and I dont think it wouldnt be powerful enough but at 54" i couldnt manage anything heavier. You also must tip the dirty water down the loo instead of sink as there can be big bits of wet fluff that might clog a sink. Now the downside ..... the instructions for filling etc are embossed on the plastic tank and are unreadable unless you hold it in perfect light. This led to me filling the wrong part of the chamber first of all because i couldnt see where the arrow was pointing. Its difficult to move around corners but straight lines are fine and it has an easy switch to use a handheld tool. The line diagrams in the instruction booklet arent very good (why they cant do colour photos I dont know). I rang Bissell to ask a simple question but they just had an answerphone on and no one has called me back 2 days later. I guessed the answer in the end. In comparison, I rang Vax to ask some questions about their products when I was putting my short list together and they couldnt have been more helpful, even on New Years Eve. However, the Bissell does such a great job of cleaning carpets that the product gets 5 stars from me. 5 out of 5Amazon Reviewer03/01/2009 01:01:01

BISSELL9400EBought this carpet cleaner a few months ago and, as far as the machine itself is concerned, I am fairly pleased with the purchase. No, it is not a miracle worker and if you are faced with rather grubby carpets (moving into a new home, for example), be prepared to shell out quite a lot on shampoo as on deep-clean setting the stuff fairly runs through the machine - forget about the assurances of the sales staff that the 3 bottle pack will be more than enough for a whole house. Also, the edge-to-edge cleaning is a myth; it simply doesnt do it, so you are left with a strip of uncleaned carpet along the walls. Still, despite all this, it does a good job in cleaning carpets and I would recommend it. The real problem arises when you have to get in touch with Bissell (I had actually bought the machine from their company website). I had to call them about a small problem with one of the tanks. You can only ever speak to the orderline; they claim not to have any customer service department, no supervisor and no technical means of putting you through to any other department. But they did take down all the necessary information and promised that the tech department would get in touch as soon as possible. They didnt. Next time I called I was send a replacement for the suspected faulty part (again, by the orderline); it turned out not to be the reason for the problem, but without any chance to speak to the tech department I will never know what the real problem is. Stupid as I am, I still proceeded to buy a vacuum cleaner from Bissell, reconditioned. Instead of the one I ordered they sent me another, discontinued model, stripped of all the onboard tools it would normally come with. Replacing them, as suggested and at full prize of course, would have cost me more than buying the machine brandnew. They did not answer any of my emails, they still would not let me speak to any other department apart from the orderline - and the spare parts centre -, they repeatedly lied on the phone regarding the order. In the end I was forced to cancel the order, receiving a cancellation confirmation addressed to "Dear sir/madam", not even my name, and without any "regards", "sincerely" or even a name. And, of course, without any apology. If you want to go for Bissell, think twice. There are other good carpet washers and vacuum cleaners about, sold by companies which are actually interested in their customers.1 out of 5Amazon Reviewer18/09/2008 01:01:01

VAXV026I also owned this product and took it back found the cleaning power a little disappointing. It frequently stopped sucking up water, (especially when I switched from using the hand tool to the main machine) and took me ages of fiddling about with the machine to get it to work again. 2 out of 5cas27/08/2008 17:44:23

Bissell1694EI bought a reconditioned bissell Powerwash delux. It is fantastic. The carpets come up really well and I find that the brush attachment is great for getting out those stubborn ground in marks, as well as cleaning upholstery. I have found that you need to be a little careful with the trigger or you can over wet the carpet, but this just means it takes longer to dry. With regard to the hard floor tool - It does a lovely job and the floor feels really smooth and clean, BUT, don`t put down as much water as they suggest (a forward and backward squirting) or your floor will be awash with water! I have found that one squirt on the forward or backward pass is enough to do several passes - once you have used it you will be able to adjust to how much you need for your floor. I hope this helps. 5 out of 5NinaG30/05/2008 12:27:23

VaxV028MI have just bought the VAX v028m and found that it cleaned the carpet OK but it didn`t hold a lot of dirty water, and it didn`t suck up enough water from the carpet it was still soaking wet,not powerfull enough. 2 out of 5A Needham12/03/2008 11:57:09

BISSELL9400EI have recently bought this cleaner and very pleased with it, i only bought it by chance as i am a landlord and the tenants that where in the house just about ruined the carpets and vinyl flooring they were disgusting,it was a toss up between new flooring or this machine, the machine won. If there is a down side the solution is a bit expensive, but the end results are fantastic.5 out of 5Amazon Reviewer05/01/2008 01:01:01

Bissell1697EThis product is very dependable and rarely breaks down.. the carpet comes clean and dry w/in 2 hrs. The chemical is far superior to any cleaner out there including Sears brand So good that I want to buy one for my brother 5 out of 5bissells22/08/2007 09:13:00

BISSELL9400EI bought this cleaner when I had new carpets laid. The old carpet was being passed on and needed cleaning. This cleaner is so easy to use, quick to fill and instructions are simple to follow. The old carpet came up absolutely spotless (a through-lounge, i.e. two rooms into one) in less than 45 minutes. With the special attachment, I was able to Scotchguard my new carpets myself at a fraction of the cost of having it done by the store. Cannot fault this cleaner except, perhaps, that you need a screwdriver to remove some of the guards to clean it properly - but not a hassle really. And no larger than a regular vacuum cleaner, so can be stored easily. Would recommend.5 out of 5Amazon Reviewer02/07/2007 01:01:01

VAXV026Yes.. I do own this product. It has done a fine job of work. When used in accordance with the instructions it sucessfully removed old as well as new stains. It was efficient on synthetic as well as natural fibers. The carpet were dry after a 2 hour period and the cleaner recovery was very good. 4 out of 5Auzzy - WA16/04/2007 11:13:43

Bissell1694EThis cleans really well. Have the option to preclean with a flick of the switch. You simply pour cleaner into its inner bag then top up with hot water. When cleaning, the dirty water gets sucked up into the container outside the bag. To clean, you simply squeeze a trigger beneath the handle and move the cleaner forward and backward slowly, then release the trigger and repeat the motion to suck up dirty water. The size of container is a bit on the small side (be prepared to empty and refill several times for a large carpet - but it is very quick to do). It is powerful and you will get little balls of wet fluff lifted - which you can just pick off or vaccuum up when dry. Proves its getting deep down into the pile at any rate. I used the Bissell deep fibre clean shampoo that came with it (other things you get are a hard floor cleaner attachment and small brush attachment for stubborn spots - which is quite handy. You can order extras like 4 and 6 inch attachments for furnishings or awkward places. I found it pretty good on stains. I can only compare this machine with a Vax (years ago) and more recently the Hoover Brush n Wash which is a similar machine but nowhere near as good as this Bissell in my opinion. The carpet is left damp to the touch (depends how long you want to keep going over it to suck excess water up) but soon dries. The colour definitely gets renewed and the whole thing a lot brighter afterwards - great smell. Recommend this.5 out of 5Amazon Reviewer02/08/2006 01:01:01

VAXV026I have to disagree with previous reviews. I really like this cleaner. It took loads of dirt from my cream carpets and left them looking and feeling like new. I also used it on a pure new wool rug and it looked clean and fresh too. I dont think any of these cleaners remove heavy stains unless you use them immediately. I had a few bad stains and it removed them but you have to go over it a couple of times. It also left the carpets fairly dry which was good enough for me. I would highly recommend it. 4 out of 5AC10/07/2006 10:21:22

VAXV026I had high hopes for this machine but unfortunately it did not remove any stains from the carpet. I think all it did was put the water through it and then suck it out again. I took general dust/dirt out of the carpet as the water was murky, but it certainly did not do deep down cleaning. I am sorry to say I had to return the item. 1 out of 5P OBrien14/01/2005 09:35:03

VAXV026I found the cleaning power a little disappointing. It did not remove stains and although the water was "cloudy" I felt that it had not cleaned my carpets sufficient. A real shame and I will be returning the cleaner. 1 out of 5paola14/01/2005 09:35:02

Bissell79203 words to describe this machine, WASTE OF MONEY! I bought this bissell carpet cleaner at COMMET 4 months ago and on only the third occasion of using this very badly designed monstrosety a large bang followed by flames (like someone had booby trapped the machine)shot out the base of the unit. After unplugging it I relised it had blown the fuse for the socket cicuit in my house, its just as well I`m an electrician.Anyway curiousity got the better of me and so I stripped the offending article down and discovered an abundance of electrical components marrinating in water, this is due to a badly designed water connection bettween the bag and the brushes. THIS UNIT IS POTENTIALLY LETHAL!COMMET WONT GIVE ME MY MONEY BACK.WHEN I TRIED TO GET THE MANAGER IN COMMET TO SEE SENSE HE DECIDED TO BAR ME FROM SETTING FOOT IN THAT STORE AGAIN.AND THT MY DEAR ANONYMOUS FRIENDS IS MY STORY.IT WILL GIVE ME GREAT SATISFACTION IF EVEN ONE PERSON DOESNT BUY ANYTHING FROM THEIR STORE BECAUSE OF THIS ARTICLE. 1 out of 5COMMET OWES ME 238 POUNDS.26/09/2008 07:30:16

BissellProheat Pro-TechProduct does clean carpets well, when it works, iv`e used mine 3 times, the first 2 times it had to go into the repairers, today i decided to try again, guess what, it doesn`t work. BISSELL8910E Pro HeatHave had this item for just over 2 years and at first it was wonderful but in the last few months things have been going wrong one by one, when I took it into the repair centre they said they wouldn`t touch Bissells and would be hard pushed to find someone who does. VAXV027XThis cleaner is a waste of time, to bulky with all the tools on it. When washing you have to keep dismantling the water pickup at the bottom as it keeps blocking up with the smallest of fluff etc, and almost impossible to clean out without unscrewing and separating the two halves. Vax know about this problem and have had loads of complaints. Cant beat there old style (orange and now black) washers. 1 out of 5Malcolm H04/09/2007 17:45:25

BISSELL8910E Pro HeatBought this machine just over a year ago and at first I thought it was OK, since then it has been in the repair centre because the water and cleaner mix will not flow correctly and it has been in the repair centre for over three months. The repairer is having dificulties getting spare parts from BISSELL. They seem to be more interested in selling new products rather than repairing Nearly New ones. The machine is also very heavy and aukward to manouver. 2 out of 5Tommy12/08/2007 18:55:23

Bissell7920 Absolutely useless, only used twice and now the floor cleaner does not work, only the tools, the floor cleaner can suck up water but does not emit water so have to use the tools brush, can only use on hands and knees with the tool cleaner, not joke when trying to clean a carpet. This was my second cleaner of this make and will never purchase again a lot of money for nothing. Emailed bissel about the problem and was told to press the lever when the cleaner is upright to unblock pipes, did not work unable to get to the pipes and they are in a sealed unit. 1 out of 5Bissel Pro-Heat08/01/2007 15:27:24

Bissell7920 This machine is completely useless, faults are intermittent and too numerous to list. On a carpet that was not particularly dirty but light in colour, it had to be cleaned twice a total of 13 hours for a carpet of 20sq.mts. I first tried the machine 2 months after purchase and thus found it is impossible to get a refund of the purchase price. Everything being referred back to Bissell who only want to try to rectify faults. ? How long would this take? As far as I am concerned the machine is not fit for purpose DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT ! VaxV029Excellent product, especially cleans wooden floors really well, and the dirt that comes up from the carpets is amazing! Easy to use, very light (can be used one handed). BissellQuick Wash plus 1950This is a wonderfull machine. Cleans tiled floors a treat and is easy to use. Carpet cleaning is also good but not as good as the speacialost carpet machines available at hardware stores. But hey - for £99. very good value for money. Got a big tiled floor - this machine is a delight. The instructions are a different manner. Very poor indeed written by an American who clearly cut them down for the UK market. BissellQuick Wash plus 1950Product is a glorified scrubing brush. The manufacturer says it has a powerful double cross action brush. The brush only moves when you push it backwards and forwards and is not powered. Bissel refused to answer my request when I asked what it meant by double cross action and even sent me rather threatening emails. The only difference between this and a scrubing brush is that it sucks up the water used for cleaning.
