Born in Glasgow, he trained as an architect and interior designer, as did many people. So why was he so different? Well, he introduced symbolism, balanced light with dark, and blended tradition and modernity. The giant achievements of Charles Rennie Mackintosh in both architecture and design now show him to be a man ahead of his time. Influenced by his work, the handmade Mackintosh Wellington Chest is available in two beautiful finishes and is decorated on the top right hand side with handmade ceramic plaques in crackle glaze cream.
