the master replicer lightsaber is an awsome collectable for all star wars fans. effectively the lightsaber of three famous characters from across all the star wars films, you get all these, plus any other combination that you can think of. also, the lightsaber is very durable. my light saber has taken a few hard knocks without even a scratch, crack or mark anywhare. highly recomended for any & all star wars fans.

The Lightsaber is good at what its primarly meant for, construction and customisation. The set comes with 15 parts which can be slotted on quite easily and without little trouble if followed with various additional knobs. Whilst `thousands of combinations` is a bit of a stretch you can make a fair number of different variations which fulfills its primary goal, to construct your own lightsaber.
The parts are made from both metal and plastic and are of high quality and are mostly in the design of Lukes, Vaders and Anakins lightsaber. The lightsaber handles very well, just like the others when swinging it about and the parts slide only ever so slightly from side to side but nothing major and are held together very well overall.

Like the other Force FXs it has realistic lightsaber sound effects (one being the jedi lightsaber sound the other the sith if you know what I mean)of those from the movies which is a given anyway. However what should be another given, the high light intensity produced by the lightsaber, is not up to the standards of the other FXs and is much dimmer even in the pitch black. It is nowhere near as bright as the other FXs that I have (though it is bright where the blade begins and becomes dimmer) and I noticed this immediately.
Also the way in which the coloured light activates is different in that this FX does not shoot up and down when switched on and off like in the manner of a lightsaber. Again dissapointing as the other FXs do have this cool feature.

Another annoying aspect is that its quite a pain to switch on, you cant simply flick the switch youve got to hold it down till it activates fully which can be very awkward sometimes. Also the blade is shorter than the other FXs bar Yodas but is not too bad only being slightly shorter.

Finally the whole part about how the `blade changes from red to green to blue at the touch of a button` is technically true but it should have really said `blade changes from red to green to blue at the unscrewing of the end, the removal of two parts and the touch of a button then putting the parts back on and screwing the end on before pressing the button` Doesnt quite have the same advertisement prospects hey. Also might I mention there is no stand with this saber unlike the others (again) which I thought was simply very naff, I mean how am I going to display it? Very dissapoiting, from a collectors point of view.

I suppose the fact that you do get 3 lightsabers with 3 different colours in one for only £50 is quite a good deal. However the undisputable fact that this lightsaber is not of as good quality as the other FXs produced by the reputable Master Replicas cannot be ignored and presents a somewhat dissapointing yet pleasing product.
Its very cool Ill admit to customise your own lightsaber and like the others you cannot but smile when swinging this iconic weapon around in your garden to the swishing `zzzwwwoooommm` noises. However this smile is not quite so pronounced and generally the lightsaber simply lacks in features that where of the highest quality before. If this was the first FX Lightsaber to be released Id have no complaints, but it isnt and Master Replicas have set a standard of quality which they did not reach in this product. Probably due to the centered aspect of the lightsaber being about customisation but still, I would have paid that extra bit to have a Customisable FX Lightsaber exactly like the others. Master Replicas, you have failed me for the first time, and may this be the last.

P.S How do you rate how educational a Lightsaber is? Does it mean in the ways of the force or just lightsaber training and building? Well Im sure it would be very educational, if it was real that is.
