| Pure Digital | SIESTA | I purchased this because I wanted a DAB radio for the bedroom. It has a small footprint and so does not take up too much room on the bedside cabinet. It took me longer to get it unpacked than it did to set up. The sound is good for such a small unit and if I want better quality, I have other stereos for that. The display is small and I do have difficulty seeing it, without my glasses, but PURE can hardly be blamed for my poor eyesight! I have no problems with the brightness myself. The buttons are laid out in a logical way and I had no problems setting up the presets I wanted and the alarms I needed. I also had no problems with reception. In my opinion it does the job of a clock radio very well and I have no regrets with my purchase. | | Amazon Reviewer | 12/01/2009 01:01:01 |

| Pure Digital | SIESTA | I recently replaced my dire Roberts CRD29 DAB which was a nightmare. I couldnt be happier with the PURE VL-60907. It really is good - great reception (the ROBERTS often couldnt get a signal and so forgot the time, so the alarm didnt go off) good sound, nice and compact (smaller than I was expecting), really good features ; especially the alarms - can be set separately weekday/weekend. No humming at all. Wish Id got one earlier | | Amazon Reviewer | 05/01/2009 01:01:01 |

| Pure Digital | CHRONOS II | I have already got one of these radios and my wife decided she would like to replace her old analogue radio. So I bought another of these radios for her for Xmas. There is nothing worse than two radios going off at once when one is analoge and one is digital. It sounds like an old school PA system. I think the Pure Chronos II is the bees knees, it does everything it is asked to do (admittedly I rarely listen to anything other than Classic FM). It is simple to use and set, has 4 alarm settings, ideal for me as I have differing times when I need to wake up on particular days/weekend etc. It does the job. | | Amazon Reviewer | 05/01/2009 01:01:01 |

| Pure Digital | SIESTA | It arrived this morning and so far I am delighted with it. I was looking for an alarm for a long time, considering both Wifi and DAB as a replacement to my tired old FM radio. In the end I went with the simpler choice of DAB. This was mainly due to the fact that I couldnt find a reasonably priced Wifi radio that consistently got good reviews for under £100. They all seemed a bit temperamental - the last thing you want with an alarm!
The Siesta is very easy to use and I had crisp clear radio piping into my bedroom within about 2 mins of opening the box. The speaker is fantastic quality, thoroughly earning the 5 stars given by WhatHiFi magazine.
The alarms are easy to set, with many customisable features including the snooze time. I dont like to give myself too long to snooze in the morning so you can crank it right down if you are like me.
The device also includes a very easy sleep function, perfect if you like going to bed listening to some music...
All in all I am very happy with the device. If it develops any problems I will edit this review, but otherwise consider it working fine.

| ROBERTS | CRD37 | The front cover states "please read the manual before use"; of course I was pushed for time, do that later, but it was all intuitive and I am pleased with the result. | | Amazon Reviewer | 31/12/2008 01:01:01 |

| Pure Digital | CHRONOS CD | I bought this for use in the kitchen. I wanted something small but stylish that would provide good quality radio and CD output. Well it ticks all the boxes. Although it is for use in the kichen I have set the alarm to switch the radio on at various times during the day on the same principal as automatic timer lights, should I be late home from work etc. I havent noticed any hum but then the fridge and boiler are both running in the kitchen, I would recommend this unit to anybody who would like good quailty in a small unit for a reasonable price. | | Amazon Reviewer | 07/12/2008 01:01:01 |

| Pure Digital | CHRONOS CD | I bought this as a compact occassional use cd / dab player for the bedroom, but have been so incredibly impressed with it that I have it in my sitting room! From the moment I took it out of the box, the quality just spoke volumes. Plug it in and it automatically knows the time abd the date! Brilliant search on the DAB, nothing you cant get (and I live in Devon). I have not heard any hum that others mention. The only drawback I would say is that the sound quality is very slightly tinny, but that is down to its tiny compact size. Very impressed with this, excellent quality at a very good price. I would definitely buy more Pure products. | | Amazon Reviewer | 07/10/2008 01:01:01 |

| Pure Digital | ELAN RV40 | We all know PURE pretty much invented the portable DAB radio and reviewers are never slow to point out that PURE sets tend to sound much better than the competition. This is equally true of the new PURE Elan RV40 which is truly one of the best Ive heard - and it looks more like a conventional radio too (sleek dark grey case) rather than those strange wood and plastic boxes that PURE tend to churn out - and which I dont like at all. The controls are not exactly intuitive, but with a bit of thought and practise (read the manual first!) they soon become second nature. The sound is really clean and crisp and surprisingly full - and you can crank it up pretty loud too, unlike many other "tinny"-sounding portables. I have had absolutely NO problems whatsoever with DAB sound even though the reception is supposed to be patchy in my neck of the woods. FM reception is first class too and the pause/rewind of live radio is a neat and useful feature. Add to that the inclusion of a snooze button, and you have a brilliant sounding and well-equipped portable radio. I am super-fussy about gadgets like these, but this is absolutely wonderful and I recommend it without hesitation. I also managed to find a dealer on Amazon selling it at approximately £30 less than John Lewis!!! | | Amazon Reviewer | 05/04/2008 01:01:01 |

| Pure Digital | SIESTA | I bought this clock radio many months ago, and I still love it. The reception is good, despite the arial being a wire and not rigid metal. Id have preferred this in white, but the price was too good to miss. The thing I love most is that I can plug in my headphones in bed, and listen to late night programmes without disturbing the old man. | | Amazon Reviewer | 21/01/2009 01:01:01 |

| Pure Digital | CHRONOS II | Bought this clock radio a couple of weeks ago, its lovely, stylish and very sturdy. Have to follow the instructions very carefully though, as took a good few goes at getting things right. Love the alarm where you can set it just for the day, every weekday, just the weekend or all the week. You can even have it showing the title of song being played! Just one critism though, the Green background with Green figures/letters is difficult to see, even at the brightest level. Couldve done with darker background. | | Amazon Reviewer | 17/01/2009 01:01:01 |

| Pure Digital | CHRONOS | I got a PURE Chronos after taking back a Roberts DAB radio alarm to Currys due to a near invisible time readout at night. The PURE readout is slightly better as it has a selectable dimmer rather than the Roberts auto-sensor. Some say it is too bright on the brightest setting. The techies haven`t quite mastered a clear time readout when using both lines of a 2-line display in either the Roberts or the Pure. The digits are too narrow and for those with poor eyesight will find them hard to read. Better to leave it on the 2-line display showing date and time. When in DAB mode, the info screen is just about the biggest available and is very informative and readable although the scrolling text speed is veerrryyyy sloooow. There are quite a few control buttons on the top that are logically placed and easy to use. Because they are on the top, the unit doesn`t slide about when being fumbled with, unlike those radios with buttons on the front. The sound quality is good for a mono-speaker unit but by using headphones you can hear the broadcasts with sharp stereo clarity, although if you are planning to doze off you might not want to risk strangulation with the headphone leads. I must live in a good DAB reception area as I always get `100` on the signal strength reading. The unit has 4 alarm settings and I haven`t mastered them yet and it is the alarm side of things that is the fiddliest but a little play with the well-written manual should get you on top of it quite quickly. Overall I am very pleased with it. | | sleepyhead | 25/01/2007 09:24:56 |

| Pure Digital | SIESTA | Quick review:
Good bit: Excellent quality reception and sound from a poor signal.
Poor bit: Very complicated long-winded multi-button pressing menus to do the simplest of things. (All the thought has gone into sound quality and looks, none into how people are going to use it.)
Display dims so much in the dark it becomes difficult to read. | | Amazon Reviewer | 04/01/2009 01:01:01 |

| Roberts | CRD19 | Until 6.37am the time display is one hour too early (i.e. at 6.36am the time is shown as 5.36am). I assume this is a problem with the software. It does not have very good radio reception. Apart from the radio and the clock it is fine! | | Anon | 04/09/2007 17:47:00 |

| SONY | ICFC773L | Have had Sony Dream Machines for years. This one is a great clock etc., but the sound is so tinny, because if the small speaker, it is almost uncomfortable to listen to. | | Brian Ollis | 22/11/2007 11:28:46 |

| SONY | ICFC273L | Being a Sony you would expect this clock to be a first class product, in many ways it is but it is let down by several basic faults. The radio and alarm functions are good but the LCD display can only be read from slightly below eye level - this means if you have it on a shelf or table higher than your bed you cannot read the time at all without sitting up! There are 3 levels of brightness on the backlit display, but these are fully manual and if you have it on a table next to your bed (so you can read the time!) most of these settings are too bright at night and if you set it low, you cannot see it during the daytime without going over to it! The control buttons are small and difficult to find when you are in the dark or just waking up - basically it is a real pain! Now relegated to my youngest daughters bedroom!

|
| SONY | ICFC273L | The viewing angle of the display is a real problem, the diplay is not visible unless your bedside table is below your eye level. I would have sent it back immediately if I could find the receipt for it. It is basically useless for most bedside tables unless they are very low. I can not believe Sony, with their might, would produce a product unfit for the purpose. | | BJ | 29/05/2007 08:11:07 |

| AUDIOLINE | RTT1 | Brilliant - I`ve had one in excess of 10 years (I live in Cumbria). We had a power cut the other day and now the alarm only works with the awful beeping instead of the radio (my fault it lost all the alarm settings, the backup battery was flat - it`s been in it for ~10 years). | AUDIOLINE | RTT1 | I`ve owened the audioline timetrack rtt-1 must be at least 10 years, maybe more, never had a problem with it, been totaly fantastic, only at start of this year I found it displaying an incorrect time as many of you are are saying, I rectified this by removin plug from mains & back up battery for a minute to let clock loose its settings, plugged it back in & let it set the time again, it seemed to take maybe a little longer than usual to set, but if the transmitter is now from cumbria then it is picking it up fine & I havnt had a problem since & I`m in northumberland, a fantastic clock, I have no plans to part with it yet, I`ll keep it till it works no more as I dont know where I would find another as good as this, I love it | | David | 12/03/2008 11:57:58 |

| AUDIOLINE | RTT1 | Had clock many years now and it has always been extremely reliable. But just the last few months it has been anything but. It displays the wrong time for no apparent reason and then rectifies itself. I am sorry to say that I cannot continue with it any longer and am therefore looking for another (don`t think I`ll get this one again though as I`m not sure what is happening regarding the signal). | BUSH | DABCR2004 | I have just bought one of these just after Christmas I haven`t noticed any of the problems with buzzing!! Really easy to use, the clock is slightly to bright but can be turned down via a dimmer switch. Buttons are a bit small as already mentioned in other reviews but still easy to use. | BUSH | DABCR2004 | Just got one of these from Littlewoods.
For the price it is an excellent clock radio, contrary to other reviews here, the brightness of the clock can be switched between high and low, with a simple switch on the side, personally I like it low anyway.
Sound quality is very good compared to my previous analogue clock radio, and reception is spot on, all picked up stations play with no breaks/distortion. One thing I will mention though, is although it is often advertised by stores as a DAB/FM radio, there is no FM tuner.
All in all, I would recommend the DABCR2004 to anyone looking for a low cost DAB alarm. | | Russ | 10/05/2006 05:32:28 |

| Pure Digital | Tempus 1 | I bought this product in December - Good budget sound. Digital radio clear as a bell. If you are looking for Bass and depth, hook it up to an amplifier or connect to your existing Hi Fi. As a bedside unit - superb. | Roberts | CR2003 | I`ve just got to put "pen to paper" over this clock radio, I`ve been after a "good" clock radio for years, this is as good as it could get,
I previously paid a good price for a goodmans cd/clock radio, but it was a hopeless radio, but this one even gets a distant station perfectly, without fade or distortion that the goodmans really struggled with, and the clock is Brilliant, it even Knows the year and date, even the day! It even changes from wintertime to summertime for you! It sounds great, It looks great, and it oozes Quality.
The alarm is brilliant, it starts off as a whisper, and builds up to an adjustable Roar, and the display even changes colour to blue, which can reassure you if you`re not sure if you`ve accidentally turned the alarm off, instead of pressing the snooze button. I also noticed that it sensibly uses the speaker for the alarm , even if you fall asleep accidentally with your headphones in, imagine..... you fall asleep, the headphones would inevitably fall from your ears, but you`re still gonna hear this babys alarm! This clock is also fitted with an adjustable sleep timer, an adjustable nap timer, and the light can be flicked from High to an (adjustable) low.
The controls are surprisingly few, and very easy to get to grips with! (oh and by the way) The extra clock display on this model is by no means overkill, because when the digitally synthesised radio station plus all the other details are displayed on the top screen, the analogue clock is absolutely invaluable for displaying the time. How pleased I am with this purchase. | | John Greenwood | 21/02/2004 21:24:05 |

| AUDIOLINE | RTT1 | I own one of these clocks too and estimate I have had it for about 15 years. I thought I was the only one as I`ve never seen another (but I guess you don`t searching your friends bedrooms). I am suffering with the strange time issues, normally during night hours. I woke one morning to see the display showing 11:66 which I really didn`t understand as I assumed that the clocks logic wouldn`t allow it to show such a time. I was aware of the transmitter moving from Rugby to Cumbria (why?) and wondered if it was related. I opened my clock up this afternoon and I noticed on the board it has a marking on it that says TT ANT which I assume stands for TimeTrak Antenna. I have soldered a wire to it to see if it makes any odds. I am located in Chesterfield so I hope I`ll be able to pick up a signal with my makeshift aerial. | | TPDH | 20/01/2008 17:34:08 |

| AUDIOLINE | RTT1 | I`ve had my Audioline clock for about 7 years and it`s been great - until about 3 months` ago when it kept showing the wrong time and also won`t wake up with the radio, only the buzzer even when I keep setting it to be radio only. It`s been brilliant up to now but I disconnected it this morning and will bin it very reluctantly. I wish I could find another similar clock. | | David of Hampshire | 06/01/2008 11:00:45 |

| SONY | ICFC273 | Nice compact clock radio. Has 10 preset frequencies you can set, 5 in FM and 5 in AM. The sound is O/K for a radio with small speaker. It has two alarm settings, something that`s handy for switch shifts. The setup is definitely not intuitive and so gets a bit of getting used to. The back lit display has three levels: full on, half brightness and off. At half brightness it`s adequate for both day and night in a bedroom. I am contemplating returning this radio to the store where I purchased it due to the fact it does not have a backup battery in it. The sales person assured me that there was probably a lithium battery in it. When reading over the instructions it says that if you unplug it for more than a minute the clock will need to be reset. Not a fun task when I would probably need to find the instructions to do that. Other than that the radio`s just fine. The more I look at it the more I am considering keeping it. I am, after all, retired. It probably won`t be a problem having a power bump as long as I`m not trying to catch a plane | | northernscout | 18/05/2007 18:14:44 |

| BUSH | DABCR2004 | Quite impressed. Good reception and none of the `buzzing` reported elsewhere. The display IS quite dim when the radio is off, but its plenty bright enough at night.
Sound quality is adaquate through the built in speaker and very good through headphones.
A vast improvment on old style clock radios. No fiddly fast/slow buttons to set the time/alarm as the clock is set from the DAB broadcast. Simple setting of alarm. | | Mr Smith | 25/04/2006 09:45:18 |

| GOODMANS | GCR1930 | The good: Really clear sound, easy controls, nice compact size fits well on the bedside table. The bad: Could use a bit more base, has a gangly T shaped wire antenea, the clock display is in 24 hour format and I`d prefer analog time. On the whole I`m very satisfied. | | Atipay | 30/12/2005 15:48:29 |

| BUSH | DABCR2003 | I bought the Bush DABCR2003 digital radio alarm clock as a replacement for my old AM/FM radio alarm clock as the clock went haywire.
After a couple of weeks usage I"ve found:
1. The push buttons around the side are difficult to operate with one hand. You may have to hold the set with other to prevent it from moving.
2. In a quiet bedroom, the set a very low electric hum - it is not 100% silent.
3. The time on the clock has to set manually despite most stations displaying the time.
4. Sound digital channels lag noticeably behind their FM counter part - e.g. live commentary football matches.
5. The sound is interference free, but the Bush is not hi-fi but OK for #70.
I would agree that it is ""an excellent choice for... radio listening - in bed". What Hi*Fi said the radio "feels substantial for the money".
Yes. good value for money, but it is a budget set.

| SONY | ICFC153 | This is a great little product. There are only two things wrong with it. One is the boxy shape which I could get used to if it wasn`t for the stupid back lit display. In the middle of the day the back lit display, even when on it`s low setting, is extremely bright. In the middle of the night you will be sure an alien invasion is taking place outside your front door. I tried putting cellophane over the display but it`s just too bright. If the numbers were green instead of the background it would greatly improve this product. I absolutely love the daylight savings time button and the nap feature. The preset tuner works a treat. I now have the unit by my computer where it doesn`t interfer with my sleep. | | Jarrah | 25/04/2006 09:45:20 |

|
| SONY | ICFC153 | Generally Good! Faultless time keeping. The daylight saving button is great. I DO like the digital radio tuner and presets. The snooze radio/alarm are easy to use. I can also go to sleep listening to one station and wake up to another preset station. Sound quality is reasonable for the small speaker. I DON`T like having to re-programme the radio stations and time after a power cut (battery backup would fix that) The brightness is too high for me at night even at the lowest setting. The BEEP signalling a saved setting is too loud. There is room for small insects to get inside and caught behind the tinted plastic front - I have an ant and a spider so far!! | | G.Bill. | 25/04/2006 09:40:48 |

| Ferguson | CR150D | This unit has great sound on DAB and CD but almost everything else is hopeless! The user interface is awful; it seems impossible to set the alarm volume, FM reception very poor, the clock is way too bright even when dimmed, it takes an age to switch between DAB/ FM/ CD, you can`t set alarm times within an hour of each other.

| PANASONIC | RCCD350 | This clock radio offers attractive styling and very good sound with a sensitive tuner. However, the alarm controls are positively byzantine and the display so bright even on the `low` setting that it is pretty useless in a bedroom setting. | BUSH | DABCR2004 | I have a CR2004, also on a bedside table. The radio hums sufficiently to be annoying in spite of the fact that it is fed with DC via the (Supplied) 13 Amp plug adaptor. The noise is still present when it is fed with another 9V DC adaptor known to be fully smoothed. I have E-mailed customercare@albaplc.co.uk twice and telephoned once with no E-mail replies and with an unfulfilled promise for the technical people to ring me back the same day before 1700Hrs.
This hum is not on the audio output but comes from within the case.
For bedside use the buttons are too small and have no tactile identification, such as a pip on the radio `Off` button. If the radio continues to be used an Araldite dome will fix this!

| SONY | ICFC317 | A slightly unusual design in that it looks like it's on short stilts! The large Snooze button is handy but it would be nice to see a dimmer option for the green LEDs. These do seem a bit bright. The sound is fine.
Overall, a sensible buy. | | Mr S Curwen | 04/10/2003 13:33:31 |

| BUSH | DABCR2004 | My son has this clock - first we were irritated by the fact that when the radio is on there is no clock so he doesn`t know when to get up unless he first turns the radio off, I have had analoge radio alarms for years and the all show the time when the alarm goes off. Now to crown it all the clock isn`t working at all - it just won`t set any suggestions? | | Nets | 11/12/2007 13:22:13 |

| Ferguson | CR150D | I find the alarm volume starts low and increases rapidly which is a real pain and the backlight is too bright. Apart from that it is OK. | | John | 30/01/2007 17:22:33 |

| GOODMANS | GCDR1950R | I recently bought a radio/CD alarm clock. During the night it would make random low buzzing noises and the display had no dimmer which was akin to sleeping with the lights on! Needless to say, I took it back and swapped it for the more expensive Goodmans GCDR1950r. At first I was pleased, straight out of the box it had a nice robust weightyness to it. I played a CD on it and was pleased with the sound quality. Setting the (analogue) radio seemed a little fiddley compared to every other radio I`ve ever used, but eventually got it tuned. However, even when tuned the reception was not as sharp as I would expect (my old £3.50 piece-of-junk actually had better reception!). Still it was near enough to serve it`s function i.e.wake me up to the radio (Radio One by the way, not exactly a weak signal). However, I was woken the next moning to a load of distortion and white noise and had to reach over to retune it. This had been a recurring issue. once tuned it`s basically okay. However, turn it off for an hour and turn it back on and it needs retuning. This is quite unacceptable. The radio on this machine is, frankly, a joke and, at £30 a pop, not a very funny one. It`s not my reception either as other (non CD) radios work just fine. Aside from that rather major issue there`s the brightness of the display. Another deciding factor on this machine was the dimmer switch. However, even when dimmed, it still lights up the room pretty well. Not good for light sensitive sleepers! If I`m being realy picky, I may as well point out that the buttons have a very cheap, plastic-y, spongey feel to them. At least, the remote control works well. Overall, a bad, hugely flawed, purchase. I could live with the display issue, but having a duffer of a radio is just shoddy beyond belief. Definitely not recommended by me! | | Mark Philpott | 10/05/2006 05:29:53 |

|
| BUSH | DABCR2004 | I`ve already returned one to Dixons for a replacement. This one has the same problem - 30 seconds after the radio is turned off, the display dims to the point the time can`t be read. I rang the Alba customer service line and they told me that this is intentionally the design. Makes its useless as a clock if it doesn`t display a readable time. | | Steve | 13/03/2006 10:00:33 |

| Hitachi | KC1000 | The display is too bright even on its dimmest setting - it keeps me awake.
Also, the top display (station etc.) has stopped working after a year (one week out of guarantee).

| Hitachi | KC92CD | Nice bit of kit but not much use as a bedside clock radio, which is what we wanted. It has a couple of innovative features, like a sensor that dims the display in relation to the ambient light in the room. Unfortunately in a pitch dark bedroom the display was so dimmed I couldn`t read the time in the blue backlit display. In a well lit room it was easily readable. The other feature is a sensor that puts it into snooze mode when you wave your hand in front of it - easier than fumbling for the snooze button. It also has a very useful remote control. The cd cover is motorised and swivels up to reveal the cd hub - great fun. The perspex cover also flashes blue or red in various modes - very clever and pretty but a useless exta. The sound output is good for a 2 x 1w unit, and has good fm radio reception but tuning is by a wheel with a digital readout of the frequency in the clock display, and here is the biggest fault of the thing. When the radio is on all you get to see is the frequency. If the thing has woken me up - great - but I dont care what frequency I`m listening to - I WANT TO KNOW THE TIME!. To do this you have to push a fiddly button - no way matey. I`m sorry but it went straight back to Dixons and we got a Goodmans instead. | | sleepyhead | 18/12/2005 16:14:11 |

| Roberts | CR9980 | I purchased one of these and sent it back. Good points:The build quality was good and the 3 alarms very flexible. The clock/date had also been set in the factory. Bad points: The FM radio was very prone to interference (although I live in a poor reception area, it was worse than my Morphy Richards!) The sound quality was poor, lacking low and high freqencies. It was difficult to see the time display at night. Display best viewed at an angle -30 degs, so not good if you position it horizontal to your sleep position as on a bed side table! My conclusion-whats the point of a clock you cannot see easily at night, or listening to a CD through a band pass filter! | | Mr J. | 24/04/2005 21:34:08 |

| AUDIOLINE | RTT1 | As above have had an TimeTrack RTT-1 for about six years and it has worked perfectly; 5/5. Suddenly in the last week it has lost the correct time and won`t pick up the right time. No success in finding any other forum / support on the net or contacts in English therefore 0/5 until I can manually change the time. | AUDIOLINE | RTT1 | I have got the same problem as the above reviewers and would like to know if there is anyway that I can disconnect the TIME TRAK facility so that I can rely on the alarm working in future as on a number of occasions I have been late due to the clock changing the time on it`s own. | GOODMANS | GCDR1950R | I bought a GCDR1950R about a year ago from Argos. I took it home and checked it. Everything seemed to work. Next time I tried to play a CD however, It did not want to know. This was only a few days after purchasing. Other functions still worked but no CD. Unfortunately, I could not find my receipt so Argos did not want to know. Also, tuning the radio is a black art with no indication of frequency. I am underwhelmed by this piece of technology. Very disappointing. | | Chris | 02/01/2007 09:27:16 |

| Hitachi | KC1000 | Very susceptable to interferance on the audio. Display lights up the bedroom like a tele, so can`t sleep when its on, rendering the alarm clock useless. Must have been tested in a room next to a street light!!! Only option is to lean a book against it. Most annoying is that it you cannot preset the sleep timer on it. Nothing stored if turned off at the mains for more than an hour. Very Very dissapointed. Guest which stores I don`t buy from now.

| BUSH | DABCR2004 | No humming whatsoever here. BUT I`m really unhappy with it: - the volume level increments are too large, and I just can`t set it to the right wake-up level - The alarm is broken! For some reason, it regular alarms don`t always ring (well, the radio starts but no sound comes out). One-off alarms sometimes go off a minute after you`ve set it - The brightness level (when the radio is off) can`t be set, contrary to claims - I must have a buggy firmware (1.31.1.9-1) but there`s no way to upgrade it. Or, over the air maybe... - The Bush web site doesn`t provide any info | | Max F | 18/02/2006 09:38:28 |

| Hitachi | KC1000 | Anther dissapointing buy from Currys. Just out of warranty, now it won`t even turn on. Good looking but clearly a pile of pants inside. Look how many `refurbished` ones they have for sale i.e. ones returned by dissapointed customers. This device looks good but that is all. | Hitachi | KC1000 | Looks good, compact size. Bass is a bit weedy but that is what you should expect in a compact unit. DAB radio has continual background buzz. I suggest you do not buy one. | | Anon | 06/01/2006 12:51:33 |

| BUSH | DABCR2004 | I can hear the buzzing noise from across the bedroom when it`s supposed to be off.
I also find the volume control to have too few settings - it`s either too quiet or too loud to fall asleep to. A dial to adjust the volume would have been much better than +/- buttons.
I agree with Peter on the buttons - they`re too small and there are no little nipples to distinguish between them at night time in the dark.

| BUSH | DABCR2004 | In my last message I said that the noise from the Bush DABCR2004 was not on the audio - Read on! I was wrong. The noise is on the audio, when the radio is OFF or ON. There seems to be 15mV peak-to-peak signal across the loudspeaker when the radio is OFF. It seems that the same signal is superimposed on the audio when the radio is ON.
Alas since I retired I have lost the electronics lab facilities which I once enjoyed so testing is more difficult. It is some time since I had to use my own Velleman `scope (quite good for audio frequencies but with the few buttons/many functions approach) which does not help when one has a declining memory!
Incidentally the output voltage of the `9V` adaptor is in excess of 11.75V under OFF and low volume conditions. The low volume current was approximately 370mA.
