I bought one of these, granted the main driver wasnt the fact that it did SMS, it was the nice big screen (and it is very nice!). I was, however, a bit miffed at the SMS service.
The first gripe is that you have no choice over who you can subscribe through, it has got to be using a company called Bizzyline Ltd (they dont even appear to have a web site!)
The second gripe is that the SMS service itself is more convoluted that the traditional mobile service. To receive messages, people have to send a text to their 07+ SMS centre and the message is forwarded to the number in the message body quote between the `#` marks.
Sending SMS messages is not as convoluted, but be warned, the rates appear to be 12p per message! As the recipient cannot simply hit reply, I cannot see this being used extensively for SMS `Chats`.
Despite this, the phone is nice, light, full featured and has a very sexy appearance. It is well worth paying the extra ten quid over the Synergy 3100 just for the elongated sleek looks!
Nice phone, pity about the cloak and dagger SMS service though.
