| Delonghi | F350WA | the Delonghi F350WA Midi is a great little fryer for two we have had one for a number of years very easy to clean. | | Amazon Reviewer | 13/10/2008 01:01:01 |

| Kenwood | DF520 | A good buy, it has a large frying basket that holds 1.2kg of fresh chips or 1.00kg of frozen.Variable tempreture control and timer. It is quite a large square fryer which measures aprox 29cm W, 29cm D, 27cm H which could be a downfall it you have limited space. The permanant filter is good the following morning after using the fryer I couldnt smell chips on entering the kitchen. The viewing window isnt much use as it steams up so you have to lift the lid up and have a quick peek but I dont think thats anything to worry about.Easy to dismantle and clean. ***** | | Amazon Reviewer | 26/02/2008 01:01:01 |

| BREVILLE | DF30 | We were looking for a basic fryer which held at least 3 litres of oil to cook a good quantity of chips at one go. We are well pleased with the results from the DF30.
As we use it in a pantry beside our kitchen we were not bothered by the fact that it does not have a filter (we just leave the outside door open to let the steam out!)It is actually 2.25kw and I like the "Cool zone technology" which means that crumbs that fall through the basket drop down below the element and dont burn on the bottom of the pan. You may be interested to know that the lid must be removed during cooking and is only used as a dust cover when not in use.
A very good fryer if you have the space! | | Amazon Reviewer | 21/09/2008 01:01:01 |

| Kenwood | DF520 | I have used this to fry samosas, spring rolls and other savouries and they have turned out fine. So far the fryer has been easy to use, the timer is quite handy too and it is easy to dismantle for cleaning.

On the downside; the frying basket is quite small and the viewing window steams up easily hence 4 stars, but the lid is easy enough to open to check contents. Otherwise a great product particularly because it can be cleaned easily. I really shopped around before buying this one and would recommend as it represents goood value for money at under £40. | | Amazon Reviewer | 14/09/2008 01:01:01 |

| Tefal | FA700415 | Unlike a previous fryer, the timer just counts down to zero and emit a noise, it does NOT turn off the heating elements. A major disappointment given the extra fiver that "feature" cost - would have returned it if it wasnt for the time/effort to do so.

One other point, is that the frying basket comes with a plastic addition which Im presuming needs removing before first use (unless one likes melted plastic with your chips) but theres no mention of this. It does appear to be a packing protection...

| Morphy Richards | 45076 | Unfortunately not quite bad enough to take back, but it does indeed overflow unless you get the chips bone dry and lower them in very gently, with the lid open so you can watch the oil heading up the pan. Cleaning up an overflow takes about half an hour as this thing is full of nooks an crannies for hiding oil. The temperature/time guide is a joke and the capacity is a myth (because it overflows). It doesnt even make up for this in appearance. Dont buy it. | | Amazon Reviewer | 04/01/2009 01:01:01 |

| Kenwood | DF520 | After reading several good revues on Amazon, I purchased one. Unfortunately it was delivered with a damaged inner seal and had to go straight back. The replacement worked well for about a month but then each time it was switched on it fused the house power supply. I have sent it back for a refund and will not be buying another | | Amazon Reviewer | 03/08/2008 01:01:01 |

| Delonghi | F603 | We bought this fryer to replace our old Delonghi fryer. This model is not as good as the old one. The main problem is that there is no automatic thermostat with a light telling you that the oil is up to temperature. On this model its all done with the timer and unless you put the timer on the oil does not heat up. Im not happy with it and will return it.

| Tefal | FA700415 | The good: the machine is designed to be convenient in terms of cleaning, and it largely accomplishes its goal. When youre done you just take the fryer off the heating element and put it on the oil storage device, and as soon as the oil cools down to an OK temperature, it magically starts being strained into the storage container for the next use. Then you put the whole thing in the sink to clean. It also has a little minute resolution timer right on the device which means you can put in the food, and walk away for a minute, and come back when the timer goes off.

The bad is: it doesnt reach the temperature its supposed to reach. I was suspicious because sometimes it just didnt seem super hot when Id put in the food. Then the thermostat would kick on again and it would suddenly start cooking more quickly. Id set it to 190 degrees C and it would eventually shut off, but then it wouldnt turn back on again for a long time and my food would be soaking in the oil rather than being briskly cooked in it. If I set it to 170 degrees C, wait for the light to turn off (meaning its ready) and then turn it up to 190 degrees C, the light would not come back on to reach 190. Why? Dont know!

Then I bought a thermometer and confirmed that it was at least 20 degrees below the target temperature. And it cooled down even more so after it THOUGHT it had reached the desired temp.

The most important part of deep fat cooking is proper temp. Its the difference between healthy and unhealthy cooking.

I am returning it. Havent yet decided whether to try again.

| Breville | DF39 | The glass window in the lid shattered. Unable to get a spare. E-mailed Breville direct and they did not want to know. Steer well clear. | | Anon | 26/09/2008 07:30:41 |

| BREVILLE | DF6 | I agree with Tyke. This is one for the extreme fryers - a scary contraption. Steam seeps out the sides (cool wall seems non-existent), you cant see through the window and so have to open up the fryer, but when you do, all the condensation from inside the lid drips straight into the hot oil, which crackles and pops alarmingly, spitting out at you. I havent been hurt yet, but Im jacking this one in before I am. Let this warn you. Ive had enough of this one and am now looking for a replacement. | | Amazon Reviewer | 06/07/2008 01:01:01 |

| Tesco | DF09 | This product is dangerous! I bought this for my Mum as she had an accident with her `chip pan` and I thought this would be safer. The basket has a collapsible handle and once it gets hot, it just collapses into the hot oil as you try to remove it. I returned one and exchanged it thinking it may have been faulty but the next one was exactly the same. DO NOT BUY IT!! I am today writing to Tesco to request they withdraw this item from sale. | | Anon | 14/10/2009 11:11:35 |

| Morphy Richards | 45076 | DO NOT BUY THIS FRYER. I bought this for `easy cleaning` and a higher capacity basket. The first time I used it we filled it with 3ltrs oil and did not exceed the 1.2kg capacity. The chips were slightly damp and the oil overflowed all over the place, making a terrible mess. The next time I used it, I made sure the chips were as dry as humanly possible. The oil overflowed again. I hadnt realised there was so much oil still inside the workings of the fryer and it burnt onto the heating element. This made a terrible burning smell thoughout the house even though we had used our extractor at full power. It took many, many hours of painstaking hard labour to clean the burnt on oil from the tank and every other part of the fryer. My third attempt was with a completely clean fryer. The chips were dry and by now the oil was low. IT OVERFLOWED AGAIN. Cleaning it this time did not take so long but it seems I have to accept that every time I use it, it will overflow all over my worktop and that I will have to thoroughly clean it, without exception. I WISH I HAD NEVER BOUGHT THIS PRODUCT. ... For the hard work involved this is a very poor value product. | | Jenny | 21/03/2008 13:21:28 |

| HINARI | Deep Fat Fryer - (White) | Yes, I have a deep fat fryer which works very well. It's quick and easy to use but WHY, OH WHY does it have so many nooks and crannies. It is rather difficult to clean because of all the grooves and gaps, especially in the lid under the metal cover. Why can't we just have an even lid. I'm sure it would be much more hygienic. | | Janet S Kitchen | 11/11/2002 22:14:30 |

| Tefal | FR401616 | I too had problems with this fat fryer, and it was compounded by the fact I was given it by Tefal due to my old one being replaced as a fire hazard. The on/off button lasted only a few weeks. However there is a solution to this problem and it will cost you #6.00 from RS I fitted the replacement button in 5 seconds and now it works fine. The part number for the switch is 273306 the Description is a Green Illuminated Rocker Switch. I hope this helps. | | Anon | 09/11/2009 18:15:23 |

| CARLTON | DF1000C | Most of these fryers have this in built reason being if it did over heat it would set on fire wouldnt it? my chip pan became very dangerous as the metal pan is thin and as it heats up it was causing the pan to crack and the oil to spit! that`s why it is best to buy an electric frier the metal is solid and there is a temp control unit and cut out for safety reasons, think about it??? | | Anon | 29/10/2009 09:21:06 |
