canonIXUS80IS PINKI really like this camera, not really had one of my very own before always had to share the family one. I like the look and the feel and so far the pictures have been nice, I like the slide show on the actual camera particularly. Loads of features i doubt as an amateur i will actually discover but you never know5 out of 5Amazon Reviewer22/01/2009 01:01:01

SonyCyber-shot DSCW300I am so pleased I bought this terrific camera - with so many different aspects of creating a photo - with easy instructions to do so. On my trip to Greece I was able to take some great photos with my new camera - the clarify brilliant, the speed, the beauty ..... what can I say except that I bought this camera with high expectations because of the reviews and they were absolutely right!5 out of 5Amazon Reviewer20/01/2009 01:01:01

canonIXUS80IS PINKI have only just received this camera so havent explored all its wonderful features yet. However I have taken pictures and the clarity is STUNNING!I love the Mycolours feature where you can lighten your skin tone, give yourself a tan and make it "vivid". Also you can edit the picture on the camera (like cropping/rotating)which saves so much time. I also love the settings like "sunset" which makes pictures outside look amazing, I have yet to explore the other options yet but there are lots. The design of the camera is also really cute and the screen is lovely and large which I like. Pictures look great on the screen. It feels very delicate though, I am always scared I am going to drop it! The only negative, as others have pointed out, is that you dont actually get a paper manual. However the camera is so easy to use, even someone like me got the hang of it within a few hours! Now I am snapping here there and everywhere. I would definitely recommended this camera if you want very clear, beautiful pictures with a great zoom (up to x12), many amazing features and a gorgeous design. Top 5 star marks from me!5 out of 5Amazon Reviewer15/01/2009 01:01:01

SonyDSLRA200 + 18-70Having spent ages reading a million and one reviews of digital SLRs I plumped for the Sony A200. Honestly not because it was my first choice on spec and features but because it offered the best compromise between features and price. Ive spent about 6 months with the camera now and I must say Im not disappointed. For what I spent it is a fantastic camera and the results speak for themselves. The camera feels solid without being too heavy and in general the controls are easy to navigate around. My only real gripe is that the flash doesnt always produce the results youd expect. With the kit lens the images you get are great and it is flexible enough to get a good feel for the camera. If you are itching for some more Id recommend checking out compatible lenses as well as Sonys offerings, as there are a host of old lenses out there that will give you great results at good prices.5 out of 5Amazon Reviewer14/01/2009 01:01:01

nikonD60 + 18-55mm lensAfter several months of research I bit the bullet and bought the D60 due mainly to the build quality and reputation of Nikon. This camera just seems so "right" when you pick it up. The main contenders on my short list were the Nikon d60, Canon 1000d and Sony a200 as they were closest match in my budget. I could possibly have been seduced by a Canon 450d but in the end it was over £100 more than the other three at best. The Sony came in about £40 less but was always a distant third choice anyway. Its just not a Nikon or Canon. Both the 1000d and a200 Im sure would be excelent choices but image quality of the Nikon when coupled with the 18-55 vr kit lens wins by a whisker. Canons Live View may be a plus for some but it is poorly implemented and in my opinion not needed on a dslr. I honestly feel that if live view is the most important factor you should be buying a point and shoot. For me the downside of the other two cameras was their plasticky feel and in the Sonys case more so and slower autofucusing. I realise the Sony has a built in focus motor but since I dont have a collection of Nikon lenses this wont bother me. The lesser three point autofucus is made up for on the nikon by its perfect metering which gets it right every time. The 18-55mm kit lens is great for walkabout but maybe a little short for portrait work. Results are superbly sharp though and it works well in low light. The built in flash is much better than I expected. Red eye reduction really works too. The menus are simple to navigate and generally the camera is very user friendly. This may be an entry level dslr but it certainly packs plenty of bangs for bucks. If you are looking for your first dslr save yourself the time researching and get this one. You wont be dissapointed.5 out of 5Amazon Reviewer08/01/2009 01:01:01

FujiS1000FDBought this camera in the new year and generally very happy with it. Pros: 10 Megapixels, 12x optical zoom Price Nice big screen on the back Cons: Lens cap just pushes on No manual focus Slightly slower than some other cameras No thread on lens Popular misconceptions: Cant use Ni-MH batteries - WRONG No image stabilizer - WRONG Overall: Very good for the money (cheaper in Jessops 5.1.09) Looks the part Buy one. 5 out of 5Amazon Reviewer05/01/2009 01:01:01

SonyDSLRA350 + 18-70mm LensThis camera has every function you could need stepping up from a point and click as i have. It offers function at the touch of a button and advanced features like the live view. It smaller brother the A300 can be picked up cheaper and offers everything this does except it only has a 10.4M filter, so depends what you want. I tried many others before choosing this one and i am not disapointed5 out of 5Amazon Reviewer05/01/2009 01:01:01

Canonixus 75Fantastic camera! You can leave it on the automatic setting and just shoot away and with such a large screen on the back you can instantly view your photos and even add a voice `tag` to it so you can remember where you took it. But that`s just for starters as there are a whole host of other features that you can use if you are feeling a little creative! Firstly, and fairly impressively, there is a video setting which allows you to capture good quality video, with sound which is definately good enough for family flicks whilst you are out and about. Bearing in mind the camera`s tiny size that means that you have a camera AND camcorder in your back for every occasion! Some other nice touches, for the creative of you, are things like the ability to take pictures in black and white but with one colour left in. This allows you to go all Andy Warhol with the click of a button. You can also do this in the video mode so you can create some great `pop` style videos for uploading to YouTube! ANother nice feature in the video mode is the time lapse setting which takes a frame every 1 or 2 minutes so you can play around with fast forward sunsets, flower`s openening, etc. In conclusion you basically have a 7.1 megapixel camera and good quality video camera in a tiny package for not much money and thar`s good enough for me. 5 out of 5Chris20/01/2008 17:30:24

panasonicDMCFS3EBKBought this as a replacement for my Pentax Optio that had given up the ghost. Spent hours researching and the choice finally came down to this and the Cannon Ixus 80. Based on feedback from Amazon and other sites I decided on the Panasonic and I have not been disappointed. The camera is tiny so fits easily into your pocket. Unlike the old Optio it is quick to start up and takes pictures quickly and easily with its excellent AI setting. So far I have only needed to skim through the manual as the camera is so easy to use with intuitive controls. Its still early days but I am very happy with my buy as it was a reasonable price and does everything I need from a point and shot camera. 5 out of 5Amazon Reviewer15/01/2009 01:01:01

Fuji450Great camera, Rubbish has no idea what they`re talking about. Maximum quality has two modes, (5M F) and (5M N), which allow 205 and 409 frames respectively on a 512MB XD card. I also get 651 frames on (3M) and 818 frames on (2M) on the same card (512MB). If you tweak the ISO settings along with the FinePix Color settings (to either B&W, Chrome, or Standard) you will see what little grain there is in the images lessen. And when viewing the raw images you can expect some grain, it`s not like most users will be printing the images out at the native 2592x1944 resolution. Great all-round camera with fast startup, great battery life, and it travels well, I`ve had it for a 2 years and used it on 3 continents and only ever had a problem when I dropped it at a baseball game and knocked the retracting lens off it`s tracks. Fixed by Fuji and came back good as new, if you can still get your hands on one of these cameras, do it! 5 out of 5Jamie06/06/2007 18:09:33

SamsungGX1LAs a very long term 35mm SLR and Medium format user, I`ve just bought one of these cameras. This is my first digital SLR. To cut a long story short- I`m delighted with the camera. I`ve been a fan of pentax cameras for years, and this camera is very much a Pentax. Don`t let a mere 6 Mp put you off- the photos from the Samsung are as good as any I`ve seen, and I`m used to quality. A real bargain, and unless you`re fooled by brand names, a great camera. Good solid feel to it, nice menu system, RAW photos are excellent, and I can`t fault it, apart from the rather weak flash, as mentioned above. But I don`t use flash much anyway. 5 out of 5Black Dog18/05/2007 18:13:52

LUMICRONLDC828z3I have had my 828 for about a year now. I bought it on Ebay at a very good price,I was very pleased with my bargain and still am. Without knowing anything of the camera I was drawn to it because it offered 8MP,a robust stainless steel body,(I hate plastic cameras)good looks and good price. I have not been disapointed with the quality of photos either. If you have not heard of LUMICRON or are put off by the cheap price dont be its a great camera.
