I bought a twin lens set with the Olympus E-510 digital SLR camera body and it produces excellent photos at a very good price.
However, 14 months in and the LCD failed. Thankfully there is a 2 year European warranty which I had to rely upon but this is my point, you need to send it away at your cost and it has been gone for almost 1 month and I still dont have it back. They dont acknowledge safe receipt until 2 weeks later and there is no further correspondence. I had to do all the chasing. Great product let down by sketchy customer service handling.
Reviewed by: Amazon Reviewer Rating:  Date Reviewed: 20Jul2009 | | | I have owned this camera and lenses for over 6 months now. Its my first DSLR, and I am still totally blown away by the quality and versatility of this kit.
The lenses are both exceptionally high quality. When shooting architecture at the widest angle, buildings remain straight right in to the corners of the photo, and they are consistently pin sharp from corner to corner. Furthermore they are very small and lightweight, which is a real benefit: you can even carry the longer lens in your pocket, and you change lenses by holding them both in one hand at the same time.
The image stabilisation is very impressive. As it is built in to the body, it will work on any lens. When you can hand hold the camera and shoot at 1/8 second shutter speed, you can make shots that you simply couldnt do otherwise. Action shots can be blurred and streams can turn silky smooth. If you are taking pictures at dusk, you will find yourself continuing and taking night shots under moonlight and street light.
I love the continuous shooting at 3 frames per second. Its great for taking portraits and generally messing around. Personally I can sometimes take the best portrait pictures by taking dozens of photos in just a few seconds, sometimes by just jamming down on the shutter button and allowing the camera to shoot continously.
The 4:3 image format is in my opinion far more versatile than the 3:2 format of most other DSLRs. The squarer 4:3 format of this camera is closer to the golden ratio, and just feels more balanced. At the widest angle on the stock lens, you can create really wide shots while also using the additional height in the frame to add foreground detail.
The camera has creative controls for black and white photography that surpass all other brands of DSLRs. In the field, you can select colour filtering and colour casts for each shot and see the results immediately on the LCD. By saving as RAW and JPG for each shot, when youre back at home, if you dont like the processing choices you made at the time of shooting you can simply re-process the RAW file using different options. You could even change it back to colour if you like!
Care needs to be taken to make manual adjustments to exposure and also contrast when they are needed, as otherwise images can have skies that are blown out completely white, and the default high contrast can create really dark shadowy areas. However, it doesnt take long to learn how to get the right exposure for tricky situations.
I fully recomend this camera to creative people who are prepared to invest a little time in learning how to get the best results. Everything on this camera is impeccably well designed - it feels efficient, slick, and has consistent high quality. No corners have been cut and nothing feels like it has been built down to a price. As well as being a powerful creative tool, this camera feels really great to use. If you feel you can spend this much on a camera and these amazing lenses, then rest assured you should never feel like you need anything else for a very long time.

The 510 only builds on a great D-SLR adding in camera image stabilisation, another 2megapixels and an amazingly compact 14-42mm zoom lens with optics just as clear as the larger version that came before it.
The in body dust reduction is an amazing system and has never failed to ensure my pictures come out clear of dust marks despite my being haphazard with lens changes!
One thing Olympus really knows how to make are great optics and for the weight and the size the kit lens can hardly be beaten - expect by Olympus own professional grade upgrade lenses. Add to this the great colour reproduction and built in highlight and shadow metering and this is a camera you can never get bored of.

Ive used it a lot, getting into Flickr and the like, across a whole range of lighting and situations and its always done a great job. The automatic settings were ideal for a beginner and Im still getting to know the vast range of settings using it manually.
The two lens kit is also great, though Im not sure how long itll be before I start wanting more lenses and thatll be when it gets costly. For now though this fulfils all my photographic needs and at a great price too.

However I have to say that none have matched the versatility of the Olympus E510. Anyone who is only used to a simple point and shoot camera will soon come to terms with this little beauty. Other reviewers have have outlined every one of its attributes so there is no point of repeating them. I have only one very slight niggle and that is that even in nature macro I cannot get as close to some images as I would like. However this is easily overcome by setting the camera to either SHQ or RAW to obtain a high quality image and then processing it on my computer. Since purchasing this camera in February I have taken over 1000 photos with some excellent results. In addition to the standard 2 lense kit I also have the 70 - 300 mm telephoto lense which is also highly recommended. I can see no reason why I should ever need to change this camera.

But what really makes it stand out from the rest is its simple pre-set programming option with 15 preset systems. If you are not familiar with shutter or film speeds and apeture settings - this feature alone will enable you to create professional pictures.
