He has some playmobil figures which are just the right size and has all sorts of fun defending the castle from attacking dragons, furry toys and rugrats figures :-) Lots of scope for imaginative play. It has a lot of character such as the arched windows, the three dormer windows, front door surround and staircase. It was really easy to put up especially as it was my first time, even the areas i thought would be tricky (stairs) were really obvious once i got started. | Papo | Three Wishes Castle | I bought this castle for my daughters 3-year birthday. Admittedly, it`s adorable, and she immediately screamed with joy and loved it. As a toddler does, she makes up numerous scenarios, uses all of her tiny and not-so-tiny toys who visit, sleep there, etc. etc. So in that way, it`s a big hit which is what counts most, I suppose. From an adult perspective, I was not too happy with the quality. It`s easy to put together, but the tongue and groove assembly leaves the whole thing (to me) feeling kind of rickety. The floor on the left side above the `dungeon` kept falling in and I hated that the stairs were loose. Plus, within 24 hours, she already lost the `foot` of the decorative archway. I fixed this by using Elmer`s glue and also adhered the walls, floors and parts that I could. I considered the merits of leaving some parts freely available to take apart, like the right side of the tower; I thought it would give it some flexibility for changes if she wanted to take a wall away to make it one big hall with an outdoor terrace of sorts, and of course, the roof of the `unicorn stable,` which makes it easier to access anyway. I feel much better about it now that it doeesn`t feel like a castle that might shake and shudder in a windstorm. Perhaps that is what is supposed to be done anyway? Not sure. Truthfully, it`s a lovely castle with lots of play value. I love the fact that it`s the type of thing that can be added to over time...i.e., the Papo figures can be a fun trip to the toy store to add one by one to the castles story potential, and there are other toys out there that can be added to build a `kingdom.` (I.e., I just saw a Playmobil product today that looked like a royal stage for plays, plus a carriage and a fountain. Yes, they`re plastic, but does it matter?) All in all, my daughter is overjoyed with it, which is such a delight to see. | | Anon | 20/07/2007 18:46:29 |
