I bought this dvd player, only to find that is was NOT suplied with a battery. We contacted Argos, but they insisted that there had been a battery and practically acused us of `stealing it`. They refused to offer us a replacement battery and I was wondering if anyone knew an outlet where I could find one? If so please email me at: pixxidust06@yahoo.co.uk
All in all the product is excellent, the picture quality is superb and the sound is clear, definatly worth the money; but I would warn you NOT to purchase it from Argos!

I bought this from argos about 4 months ago. It works ok, although i wasnt to happy about the battery idea, it sticks out and gives the player some weight. Nice sharp bright screen, bit loud when playing dvds though!
Recommended for the price, and not bad overall!

This is a prtable DVD player and as a product it does what it says on the box. But like anything else, it is the `How` that has to be considered. The workmanship, if you can call it that nowdays, and feel, look, function etc of the product. It`s made in China by the way, which may or may not be something to consider.
Ok, functioning wise it does well in playing DVDs though I have found it a little noisy when spinning DVDs. It is able to fast forward upto 16x through a DVD, has a cute little remote control with rubbery buttons which i liked. Sound from the built in speakers is diabolical, but it`s not so bad when you plug in your own headphones. The screen is nice and bright, but it`s been made with one of those screens where the best image is viewed when directly in front of it. If it is slightly at a slight angle the picture changes. I`m sure you know what i mean. It`s the same problem that early flat screen monitors had.
Construction quality unfortunately I feel lets it down. It has a cheap plastic touch to it, and the rechargable battery attachment that hangs on the base back of it has been designed as an after thought. It makes it cumbersome and gives it a heaviness. The buttons on the DVD to control it if you dont use the remote are cheap and tacky as well. It`s like all all the knowledge of making christmas cracker toys has been used on these buttons. The electrical adaptor works, what more can be said, except again if you have to plug it into the mains then it takes something away from the concept of portable DVD lol. Cables everywhere.
Given a choice, it`s not something I`d choose unless I`d viewed the other players available out there and then decided this was best, unfortunately it certainly does not fit in that category.

I bought this for my son`s birthday form Argos for £99. Firstly, it seems to be very well made with a quality feel to it. It is supplied with a mains adaptor, remote control (with proper buttons) and a detachable battery which hangs somewhat ungainly out the back of the machine. There are no earphones or other cables supplied in the box. The screen is sharp with bright, natural colours, although sound quality (as on most of these players) is dreadful though the built in speakers.
Note that the Argos catalogue states that there is a car charging lead supplied, but when I paid for it in the store I was told that this is in fact an error in the catalogue so I also bought the optional accessory pack for £20 which includes a carry case & straps, a car charging lead, 2 headphones with a twin socket splitter, some AV leads and a SCART adapter.
The car charging lead however has the wrong connector for this player and is therefore useless, but contrary to what Argos told me, there was in fact a car lead supplied with my PDV313! Note that when the player is in the case it is a very tight fit, the remote control does not work and none of the connections are accessible. Fairly limited use but it is OK for storage I suppose.
The PDV313 has an AV in/out switch which in theory allows you to plug in an XBOX or PS2. I have been unable so far to get a decent picture or any sound when connecting an XBOX. I need to look into this later!
Overall, this is an excellent machine that hopefully will last longer than the Proline model that it replaces! Recommended.
BTW - Between the Proline and this Hitachi, I also purchased a Goodmans `twin screen` portable DVD from Makro. This is in their current offers list (Makro Mail) but BEWARE - they do not come with a battery or mains adapter/charger (only a car lead). In addition, Makro do not have in stock, nor do they know if or when the will get any of the battery & charger packs so don`t buy one unless you want to use it only in the car.
