I did originally receive a Bush DVD personal player but it was broken so I paid a little more and had it replaced with this one instead. I honestly dont know why I did not choose this one before. It is fab, so multi talented. LoL! I had not heard of Shinco before, but I think they are an off shoot of a more famous brand but I cant recall who. It comes in a great bag that you can carry it in, or add extra straps provided to have on the back on the front passenger headrest in the car. All sorts of bits and pieces come with it including a remote control(obviously), an adaptor to plug into cigarette lighter plug in your car, wires to plug it into your TV at home, a charger, a battery, etc. The machine is great and has played anything I have put in it. I love it and would recommend this one to anyone. My friend has a more expensive better known brand and even she prefers this one! Ohh and the sound is pretty good too, and not tinny either.

I looked at all the reviews for this product, and decided to get it. I dont regret my decision as it was always going to be hooked up to my TV to watch international DVDs, thats it, but when I was trying it out I found that the DVD flap needs holding down otherwise it comes open. It doesnt bother me that much, I just put a book or a bit of tape on it as Im not going to use it as a portable. But if you are, you might want to think about that.
Also when it starts up it makes a lot of noise, which is unexpected - I thought it was malfunctioning! But when it warms up and starts to play the DVD the system is very quiet. It looks nice, it has a good sized screen and other than the above, I cant find anything wrong with it. A good little player.

We bought this model for my daughters 9th birthday on the back of customer reviews. We have returned two models within 3 weeks because neither would charge properly. The return service from Amazon was fantastic on both occasions. She is now the proud owner of a player from another manufacturer which works perfectly.
I think Shinco have packed too many features in which makes it unreliable. My advice is to get a simple DVD player which will actually work!

However, the SD card reader doesnt work at all, certainly with my 2GB camera one.
I also bought the SHINCO DVB 100t Digital TV tuner. This is rubbish, it only works if you connect to an external roof antenna, the little antenna supplied picks up paractically nothing.
Overall the DVD player is great for travelling etc. but the TV addition is a waste of money

After hankering for a multi regional portable dvd player for a while I received the Shinco SDP1720C model including carry case for christmas. I am absolutely delighted with this machine and cannot get over the ease of use, especially when several Christmas Days over other years have been spent trying to set up either machines or computers for myself or my children - there is no setup - just plug in and get on with it. The quality of picture and sound are great. I could not wait to purchase several Region 1 DVDs that had been on my list for ages and now can DVDs play beautifully without having to change anyting on the machine and I also watched different TV programmes to my husband on this machine via the TV tuner that can be purchased separately. I would heartily recommend this wonderful little machine to anyone who wishes to either just have a portable player but especially if you wish to watch Region 1 DVDs - until the business men who encode the DVDs realise that they are losing out on a vital market worldwide by restricting DVDs in this way - CDs bought all over the world are not encoded so WHY are DVDs. Anyway this machine is superb and would recommend this to anyone. Go on treat yourself and pamper your DVD viewing. May 2008 - my husband is now using the unit whilst travelling to work on the train - he is also delighted with this unit.

Appeared to work fine initially but after 40 mins of playing it starts to skip and eventually freeze.
We were only running on mains - didnt try the battery - but I suspect the unit was overheating.
Got to ship it back now - sigh

Very good playback. Will play back junk DVDs very well and the audio isn`t
bad
But the SDP1720c I have got is very poor on external video with
Hoizontal tramlines.
Will not recomend to customers who need a video
monitor.....
