Ive had two of these and theyve both had faults. The first one had to be continually powered off and on again and then eventually even this wouldnt get it to record. The second one has now started to give me trouble, it does record, but it wont play it all back - it just jumps past huge chunks of the recording.
I cant rely on it so Im having to give up and get something more expensive - I think you do get what you pay for...

I sent this E-Maik to good mans over a 2 weeks ago.

I was bought a Goodmans GDVDR300R Recorder some months ago as a present
and only just got aroumd to using it. All the functions work but
unfortunately the machine `Freezes` after about 3-4 Mins. The person who
purchased the machine for me did not keep any of the Documentation
(Receipt etc).
So please could you let me know what is causing the fault and how much to
repair.

They have not yet replied .... I live in Hope.... Can anybody HELP
me

Had this product less than a year now totally useless as we do not have
the receipt so can not get a replacement.

Would not recommend.

It is rubbish. the unit is 10 months old and is now broken, Goodmans will
not replace it so there warrenty is useless, index went out of business so
they wont replace it, I dont have the reciept as it was a present.
I can`t stress this enough, do not buy this unit infact never buy a
Goodmans as there warranties are less than useless, they hope that people
loose the reciepts so they don`t have to carry out the
work.

The Goodmans DVD recorder,is a simple affair,no hard drive.If you remember not to push the draw shut,if you do it will not read the disc,so use open/close only.Once you have formated your disc,you can make HQ recordings,that play on a normal DVD player,once finalised!You must use DVD + R disc.If you also remember to plug straight into your Sky Box,it does not recognise a RF signal,on an extension. The quality is really good,even on long play,2 hours recording,it is excellent.
I really like the simple way it works each button does one thing,I bought mine £179.00.from Next,you get a real bargain,forget the brand,because under the bonnet it probably uses high specification components.It even records on badly scratched disc,giving excellent playback.This shows error correction is good.Memorex disc,work well in the recorder.
If your wanting something simple that,helps you with a menu,go for this machine.

Cumbersome to use, recording quality pretty poor on everything except HQ,
quite noisy.Unit has broken after less than 10 hours recording -lost
invoice- so now scrap. Goodmans won`t reply to phone or e-mail so this has
become the least cost effective purchase of my life.Learnt my lesson will
buy a better brand next.

Set up the equipment according to the instructions, but the recording is
really distorted. Videoplus doesn`t work if you install with a satelite
digibox.

Found the product great except for the
fact that I can`t use the Video Plus+ function as the instructions require
not only the VideoPlus code but also a VideoPlus number which doesn`t
appear in any TV paper (see point 4, p.23 instruction booklet).
Has anyone else come across this?

This player is fantastic - very good picture quality as long as you stay
away from the 6hr recording mode. Very simple to setup and it has loads
of inputs for recording from DV camera etc.
