This is the only recorder I have ever had. I bought it to record occasionally and it has always done the job. Set up was pretty easy and the manual is very comprehensive. I have never had any problems with the quality of playback of DVDs or recording quality. I also plugged my external hard drive through it to play videos I had downloaded from the internet because my TV did not have AV input. The only limitation is that it will only use DVD+R or DVD+RW discs for recording. For non-experts like me it has does the job fine.

This is the second one I`ve got as the first one broke in 2 weeks! This
machine is doing my head in too! It is sooooooooo complicated. I can use
it ok but my grandparents have to ring me up every time they want to do
anything with it!!! Now it sounds like it`s jammed - won`t even turn
on!!!!

Recording quality is good but it does not have 24hr clock and states it
cannot record if recording crosses the 0.00 time by even a minute,
therefore only 2/10 from me.

Having bought this DVD recorder over other brands due to the good name of Goodmans, I have been sorely disappointed. Set up was a nightmare trying to get a clear picture from my freeview box without interference. In the end I had to route the signal through my VCR and into the DVD Recorder.
Like others before, I found that this ran very hot, even when not being used.
It ruined discs (even rewriteables!), refused to read discs it had just recorded. Final crunch came when it refused to read any disc but a pre-recorded disc. That was when it went back to the store who were good enough to give me a full refund.
Frustrating to say the least! A shame really, since up to now I had always had a good experience with Goodman products. I am wary now of buying any.

For the price you would expect it to be good.
It runs VERY hot, too hot to touch comfortably! Crasses regularly, and now the sound is well out when playing dvds!! originals and burnt discs. Also has issues playing CDs, the menu system for CDs is shocking too, looks like a 3yr old made it.
Only thing it does well is record. I havent had a single glitch. If you want to record more than 2 hours to a disk though it will be blurry.
