I had this bought as a stocking filler a few years ago, (I am 30 yrs old)it is exactly the same product/same colour/same layout of buttons etc but it has word scamble printed on instead of scatter chatter. It is a word game. There is a clue that pops up telling you person/thing/place for example then letters appear scrambled like an anagram. Some of them a a little random, a thing could be pinkie or amoeba or piscies, and place venice or dentists. You then use the buttons along the bottom to rearrange the letters. You are scored points for how many words you get right in 5 minutes. It tells you at the end how many correct words, average time for each word and number of hints used and a score like 151 i think its for the number of letters placed minus hints? and maybe how many moves it takes you to get the word might be factored in somehow . .but not exactly sure.
You turn the game on by pressing the large button to the right. This is also a hint button. From left to right the other buttons on the r-hand side are - high score, sound and new game. Theres a little reset button that needs something inserting like a pin as you cant, change diffuculty while playing or turn it off at all. It turns off after a certain time of inactivity ( around 30 secs??). The ones along the bottom are to rearrange the letters. You know when a letter is placed correctly as it flashes. You can get words by some guesswork at the beginning (especially needed on hard) though you will score lower. Easy is 4 letter words, medium 5/6 letter and hard 7/8 letter words. A hint is where it places a letter for you.
I found this filled in a few minutes here and there, my nana had a go to beat my scores, I took it with me when i flew places and was sitting around the airport to keep me occupied which it did for a little while. Its a canny little game. You wont play with it for hours though.
I couldnt believe it when i saw it here renamed and the looking like it was aimed at young girls! I think they would be a bit bored by it after a while and it would suit older people like puzzle/crossword fans. I suppose it would be educational but surely you can get more fun things than this for them.
If you like word games then buy it though i dont think it would be suitable for kids under teens.
NEXT DAY. I just have to add that i got this out again after not playing with it for a while - i forgot i had it - and it is quite a lot of fun. Maybe kids would play on the easy/medium settings and would like it but dont buy it as one of their main prezzies as its not THAT great but a fun distraction to fill a bit of time in!
Hope this helps ;0)
