For centuries Frontons wines were enjoyed by popes and kings but of late their reputation has extended little beyond the locality. The climate is influenced both by the Atlantic and the Mediterranean so the wines contain an unusual mixture of grapes. Grand Lescure is made largely of the local grape Negrette - which tends to produce supple wines with hints of violet and plum. Added to this was a tiny portion of Syrah which brings colour and spicy blackberry character.
