| Nintendo | Wii Console + Wii Sports | This is a great piece of kit. Kids love it. On its own it would become boring but with the addition of Wii Fit and various great games we bought as well this has become a great series of games. We limit the use for our children and when the weather is like it is today -10, they can still play and exercise inside. Really impressed. | Nintendo | Wii Console + Wii Sports | Santa dropped this off at our house the other day, and Im pretty sure he had a smile on his ruddy face when he did it. "Ill teach those bleedin couch potatoes", he said with a laugh. "Ho Ho Ho", and off the old jelly belly flew, with his sleigh full of Wii related accoutrements for sedentary families around the world.
Having the good fortune to have a semi-geek in the house, the Wii thing was soon set up in the kids bedroom, and after 5 hours I thought I should check on the adult kid and the little kid - just in case.
Santa had sadistically included an extra controller and nunchuk with the package, so added to the pair that comes with the set, a full scale 2 kid war was in progress, covering bragging rights for five included games - boxing (little kid leading), bowling (big kid ahead), baseball (no clear advantage - but then we dont play baseball here, because its just not cricket), tennis (neither will see Wimbledon) and golf (Tigers safe for now)
They had set up a Mii (avatar) for each member of the family (self included), and looking at the body shape they chose for me, I immediately remembered that I should make a New Year resolution to lose weight.
Soon enough a challenge was issued, and hours later I emerged as the household bowling champion, but threatening to sue for physical abuse for my boxing loss. (I think they made it personal)
All these games have an aerobic and physical element, and if you dont get yer lazy azz in gear, nothing much happens. Bowling for instance, requires you to swing the controller like you would a bowling ball (making sure that you secure it around your wrist first so you dont put a hole in your TV), and after hours of unaccustomed exercise, your muscles can really feel the burn. And its not only your arm muscles. One does not bowl without the correct body language after all.
Oh the pain!!
Now theyre looking at all the other doo-dads and wing-dings to further their Wii experience, and making strong birthday and fathers day hints. IMHO they should drop off their requests to the fat man in the red suit, and get HIM to come over and play some games.
Off to review some Icy Hot and Radian B, and make a massage appointment.

I have only ever purchased Nintendo consoles and have not been disappointed yet. Nintendo products have a certain magic to them, and the Gamecube is no different. I picked up this amazing console for just £25 at my local Game store. I wasnt expecting much from this little cube, considering its age and upcoming rivals such as the PS3 and the XBOX 360. I walked out of the store after having bought Spiderman 2. I immediately booted it up and discovered the true power of the Gamecube. The graphica rivaled the PS2 and the XBOX and was truly stunning. Although the only game I feel which has truly shown the full extent of the Gamecubes prowess was Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. I have always been a fan of the Zelda series and this game was simply the best. The graphica were on the level of the Nintendo Wii released version and I can see no differences between them. Also, even though I picked up the gamecube preowned, I expected there to be some problems with the console itself, but of course there were none. It is one of the most durable consoles out there and does not overheat unlike the PS2. This console is the best for its price of any console around and I highly recommend it. My PSP is the oldest and the "mouse" nub switch does not properly work for the boys and their gaming so I use it as an excellent MP3 player in the car and for browsing the internet on our wireless LAN at home. If you use Google to find mobile friendly sites then it is great, but even for normal sites the picture quality is excellent. We have the Go Camera which my youngest uses to take thousands of pics when we go away. All in all an excellent bit of kit. | Nintendo | Nintendo DS Console | The Nintendo DS is no ordinary console. What on the face of it appears to be merely an upgraded Game Boy Advance is packed with a suite of never-before-seen features which make it unique within the gaming world.
The most obvious new feature is the two screens (DS stands for dual screen), the bottom of which is a touch screen. This makes an enormous difference to the way you play and interact with the game, as you use a stylus or the handy thumb strap to control the action.
The way this works in a game varies enormously, with first person shooter Metroid Prime: Hunters using the touch screen and D-pad to create a control system thats just as responsive as a PC keyboard and mouse. Other games, like Yoshis Touch & Go, have you actually drawing on the touch pad to create platforms, while other games use the extra screen to display inventory or map info.
But theres more to the DS than even that. It also has a built-in microphone (one new medical game has you operating on patients with the touch screen and reassuring them everythings going to be okay via the microphone) and it can be connected wirelessly to sixteen or more other consoles. Not only that but some games and utilities even allow it to connect online via Wi-Fi.
Although the DS is far more powerful than the GBA - it can display 3D graphics somewhere between a Nintendo 64 and the GameCube--it is still backwards compatible, so you can play all your old GBA games in single player mode on the same console.
With a battery life of between 6 and 10 hours the Nintendo DS gets pretty much everything right. With a range of games that seem to offer far more originality and imagination than any other home or portable console this is could well be the most exciting new console of 2005.

As theyre are games such as Super Smash Bros Melee, Super Monkey Ball, F Zero GX, Soulcalibur 2(yes I know multi format but controls best on Gamecube) and Wave Race; Blue Storm too name but a few and honest to god the best PS2 has to offer is theyre try at GTA SA multiplayer which was fun for awhile oh and Soulcalibur 3 which is pretty good and Rockstar were probably smiling about theyre take on the multi player on GTA SA well woopty frickin doo! Ok the antics of Mario saving Peach for the Umptenth is getting tedious but I think in the Mario games its more about the journey that counts.
Another reason I think the GCN is so great is because it gets back to gaming roots, its become to much about killing people graphically but the NGC takes its way ahead and bases theyre games on pure good fun! Ok it doesnt offer brillaint graphics but too be honest I find my fun from cartoon monkeys racing in capsule like balls, other then playing as Master Chief and killing aliens(though that is fun) so if your in University or live with brothers or sisters or even live close to a bundle of mates the NGC is for you as its got enough to keep you entertained for hours on end! | | Amazon Reviewer | 26/11/2007 01:01:01 |

| Nintendo | Wii Console + Wii Sports | Wii - it should be called the WOW!!! This really is a fantastic machine and everyone from my wife to my mum (aged ovr 60) has really enjoyed playing on it. The most impressive thing so far for us is Wii Tennis, which comes free with the console. In true Nintendo style the gameplay is spot on. In multi-player mode (you can have up to 4 players playing doubles but I wouldn`t recommend it unless you have a room the size of a real tennis court!) it`s down to the timing of the players and you can even put spin on the ball by twisting the remote at the right moment. For me though the best part about this game is the single player mode as the computer opponents are amazingly realisting in terms of their gameplay. You start out playing fairly easy to beat `amateur` players and as your rank increases you play against tougher and tougher opponents. When you get up to `pro` level you really have to concentrate and get fast, first serves in as well as being ready to volley plenty of balls at the net. I have played this game for hours and hours and never tire of it. The accuracy of the motion sensing controllers is amazing and if you haven`t tried a Wii yet you will be amazed! There are dreadfully few genuinely good games that make good use of the Wii`s controller, which is dreadfully unsensitive - you can try to smite the ball but the movement only registers a feather-touch on Wii Golf. | nintendo | DSi Console in Black | on some posts but still nothing it keeps ginivg me the same problem. Is the problem my controller, the tv set up (if so how do I fix this problem because I don`t know how to access the HDMi setup screen on the playstation because the controller isn`t responding. When I plug in the controller I notice that all 4 lights on the top flash and then light number one will be the only one lit up but then I notice it starts to flash. So maybe I`m not pairing it correctly. Is the problem that somehow the playstation got damaged in the box? I`ve tried it with two t.v`s one with a really old one it gave me the same problem, so then I tried it with the flatscreen in the living room and it still gave me the same problem which is weird. I know I can`t expect it to work on the old t.v but how would make it work on a new t.v? I guess my biggest problem is being frustrated not being able to move on from the time adjustment screen because the screens keep on going back and forth its frustrating. It may take a little patience, and it may cost a good bit, but I already think it`s worth it! Nintendo are the best - simply no doubt about it! Everyone winges because the GameCube does not play DVDs or put the kettle on. (never heard of a DVD Player!??) Nintendo stay loyal to the gaming facility, and thats why not only do you get supreme quality, but you get the smallest mains operating console as a result, and the smallest gaming discs too! Nintendo consoles never let you down either; extremely durable and well made. Im not one for coloured consoles myself, as I think it cheapens the look, but trust Nintendo to come up with the purple, which I did buy, as it really does look classy! Another thing to consider; buy Nintendo - and think of your health! In all the Nintendo consoles I have purchased from the original, Ive never experienced repetitive strain injury - however long Ive played. I did on the X-Box, and others. I guess this can only be the design of all their controllers. Nintendo concentrate on the best gaming quality, and so they are also going to have these concerns uppermost when developing new consoles. This distinctly shows when comparing their controllers with the design of others; ever noticed just how comfortable and less cumbersome they are?

Besides the 30+ games contained in ROM, the joystick can be modified into a full fledged C64 computer by soldering in a few connections. Designer Jeri Ellsworth even made sure the circut board was `labeled` to make the connections of a PS2 keyboard, Commodore disk drive, and external power supply. Oh, also SVIDEO out can be utilized.
