It has effortlessly consumed the prunings from three apple trees,a leylandii hedge and a mixed hawthorn, blackthorn, sycamore and beech hedge. However, watch it if you are feeding Weigela prunings.I have had to strip mine down after a blockage that would not clear even when using the reverse function. The Weigela seems to be very fibrous, and was crushed rather than shredded -just as if I had tried to shred a pair of shoes. I have now un-jammed the shredder, but it keeps tripping the power supply now and the motor doesn`t run.Methinks that I am in for a big bill-and the shredder is less than a month old!( I can hardly claim under the guarantee for trying to shred ropelike material can I?)
Reviewed by: Dick Rating:5 out of 5 Date Reviewed:31Oct2005 | | | I recently bought the bosch atx2000hp. Mines a factory recon unit so Ionly paid £170 with a years warranty. Hows it perform ? Excellent.
Itsquiet and surprisingly quick. I was shredding cuttings off my pine andcherry tree. The cuttings were in some cases 5ft long and about an inchin diameter. I didnt cut off any of the stems off the main branches.Once the shredder gets hold thats it...let go and let it do its stuff.
Itworks similar to a butchers mincing machine in that a corkscrew bladetakes the branches and twigs down into the cutters.I didnt jam it once andit made very short work of the 6ft high pile of prunings. It was happytaking the ivy cuttings but the conifer trimmings (leaves) were a bit of apain as the corkscrew was not able to grab hold easily. I sorted thisproblem by stuffing it full of leaves and then putting a branch in. Itdragged the leaves into the cutters. I did try a garden cane to push thecuttings into the blade but it took the cane out of my hand.... With theshredder using a corkscrew type cutter and not a large spinning disk withblades on it, its quiet, and with a 2000watt motor driving a corkscrewtype blade it is very powerfull. Even old roots from a bush I had dug upthat took both hands to cut with the pruning shears went through itwithout it jamming. It also has a reverse on it so if you do manage tojam it, put it in reverse to get it out of the cutter.
A great bit of kitbut use with respect. Once its got hold of the item to be shredded, KEEPCLEAR. If I had paid the full retail price I would still give it a excellentrating. A 5 out of 5.
