HOTPOINTGW74XThe main oven cooks the left side of all foods, the flame of the oven poors to the left. its a pain i have to open the oven half way through cooking to turn the food. The left side food after 15 mins is burnt and the right side is raw. this cooker has to go. Tanya (partron@freeuk.com) rate 5 = bad 5 out of 5Tanya (partron@freeuk.com)19/01/2009 14:43:25

NEW WORLD50HLG WhiteYou get what you pay for! As a cooker it performs very well, efficient oven and grill, quiet burners, no electrical connection is required as the ignition is battery powered, the oven door looks like a top opener,it opens from the right. The pan supports are rather flimsy,on a more expensive cooker these would be rigid castings. I think that the cost reduction engineers had a hand in the design,at the low end of the price range it is a good buy, however, the range is between #280-00 and#459-99 which is over the top. I have just disposed of a 25 year old Flavel HLG that was built like a battleship, Quite a difference between the two. 4 out of 5collarbone25/03/2009 15:39:26

STOVES600SIDLM SILVERI really enjoy using this oven, but as the other reviewer has mentioned the grill can make a right racket when it heats up. Must be a design fault. 4 out of 5Anon04/09/2007 17:44:15

NEW WORLD50GSO WHITEGreat little cooker, basic controls for all burners, oven and grill. The grill has only two settings, on and off. I have found that the burner dials appear to be backwards. Once the burner is on the settings is on high to start then you turn the dial to low. The same applies to the oven settings. All in all you get what you pay for - low price, basic appliance but does its job. No hose was supplied with the appliance but there was a moulded plug complete with 3amp fuse, as stated by law. 4 out of 5rdx7329/05/2007 08:10:34

CANNONStratford SilverI paid 350.00 for this 3 years ago have been very pleased I even recommended to my mother who bought the same one. Hers has never worked right the oven never fired up enough, she had the shop back who did something but still never worked right some times the flame in the oven was half lit, and every time she opened the door it went out no end of times they thought the dinner was cooking to find its gone out. She has not stopped complaining since the day she bought it ,it looks like new and shes looking for a new one, occasionally my oven would go out when shutting the door, also but this weekend just 3yrs old my oven has broke it too dosnt fire up. im very disapionted i dont know how long there supposed to last but I thought longer than 3 yrs so if you buy one and the ovens not firing up get them back out straight away,,,and complain as my mum didnt like too 3 out of 5kel06/09/2009 15:26:03

HOTPOINTGW74XWe bought this from Appliances online. The first one had to go back because of an ignition fault and the oven burner in both of them was/is slightly uneven as described in other reviews. Our only real crtiicsim with the cooker we have is that the stainless steel top has discoloured due to too much heat being applied when cooking with large pans on the large burners. This is due to the moulded steel shape. A non product related criticism is that Hotpoint and Appliances on line are really aggresive when it comes to selling you insurance after the one year warranty period is up, making you belive that this cooker is only designed to last 12 months. #48 per year...you might want to factor that into the price!! 3 out of 5CAM16/06/2009 14:47:02

ElectroluxEKG6049XNThis is an exellent cooker. However the paint comes off the knobs.Electrolux customer services said `We are aware that we are having problems with the paint not behaving it`s self.` They are still making this cooker with the silver knobs but will only send out nasty looking black plastic ones thus spoiling the look and style of the stainless steel finnish. P.S. AEG and ZANUSSI are made by electrolux as well.Make your own mind up but you have been warned!!! 3 out of 5Clive Walton18/09/2008 08:55:24

ELECTROLUXEKG5547XNBought last week but already a couple of niggles that is making me think I may have made a costly mistake. The cooker is well built and not in the least bit flimsy, unlike some other cookers I have looked at. It`s nice looking. However after using I realise there a few problems for me with the design. Mainly concerning using the grill. In fairness must point out the I am used to using a cooker with an eye level grill and also one that has storage at the bottom. I find a few particular annoyances. The first is the pan handle that is used for the grill has to be detatched while grilling. A real pain to take on and off! Also when using the grill you are unable to get into the lower oven easily as it cuts off your vision. With the lower oven being so low to the ground its a real disadvantage for somebody like me who suffers from rhumatoid arthritis or might not easily able to bend too low. 3 out of 5Mrs O27/03/2008 07:41:34

STOVES600SIDLM SILVERI have had this for a week and am about to replace it! Everytime it was left alone, the oven door opened by itself when it was hot enough! ~Really! Also if I opened the grill while the oven was on then the oven door opened too, also after closing the oven, then closing the grill, the oven door opened again. I left the room and came back to an open oven! I decided to replace with a different oven as apart from it obviously having a very dangerous fault, when you want to grill and bake - you can`t get to the oven as you need the grill open and as you musn`t close the grill whilst cooking there, it is nigh on impossible to get into the oven without burning your hand on the grill door! The fan on the grill is quite noisy but that didn`t really bother me as I knew it was stopping the knobs from melting as my friend`s did (that`s why they fitted the fan)! Besides the obvious fault - It looks good! 2 out of 5Notimpressed27/01/2009 07:43:50

HOTPOINT51TGWI have had 3 delivered and they are all damaged. I have a huge dent in the side & enamel chips on the front and side near the top of the cooker. The delivery men say this is from the manufacturer. Check your cooker carefully before accepting delivery. Don`t like to different sizes of rings on hob either or the order of the knobs for the hob but this is personal choice. Cooks ok though. 2 out of 5Rose in Sevenoaks19/01/2009 14:43:55

CannonC60GCSWe have just purchased the Cannon C60GTX which is the stainless version of this cooker. So far we are not impressed. The oven temperatures are low, we suspect a fault on the top oven (it takes 25 mins to cook oven chips)and there is very little control on the hob burners, they are either full on or so low you can hardly see the flame. The burners are full on when the knob says they should be at 1/2 heat. The knob does nothing between 1/2 heat and full on. It is impossible to see which knob controls which burner unless you stand three feet from the cooker because the knobs obscure the markings. The markings themselves are cheap and tacky, not what you would expect on something costing £500. We are awaiting a new grill rack because the one supplied in the cooker was bent during manufacture. The stainless finish of the top hob does not match the coarse grit finish of the control facia. The main oven is in fact smaller than our previous 50cm wide cooker. So much for progress. 2 out of 5Unhappy14/07/2007 08:41:45

ELECTROLUXEKG6046KNHave had this model cooker for just under 3 years now. First problem was the automatic ignition failed, then the rubber pan support `feet` started to fall off, a hole in the enamel on the hobb appeared, the silver coating on the nobbs is comming off and now the glass lid has shattered. It cooks OK but very disappointed in the over all product and after sale service. 1 out of 5Anne Shoubridge30/10/2009 16:15:45

NEW WORLD50GSO WHITEI strongly disagree with the previous review. NEW WORLD GAS COOKER 50GSO I have had this model cooker for 3 months and have had continual problems with both oven and grill. The oven overheats resulting in burnt food or at best overcooked food. Using a lower setting does not work as food is then under cooked. The grill cooks so unevenly that I have had to buy a toaster! A New World engineer fitted a new thermostat which helped a little. A second visit from the engineer did nothing further to improve matters and resulted in him saying “ the cooker is working to specification”. After this New World have washed their hands of the matter. After using gas cookers for all of my 53 years of married life this is the worst one I have ever had. The cooker is now waiting removal to the tip and I am having to pay out for another model. 1 out of 5mstainton02/11/2007 10:38:44

BaumaticBT2001SSTrust me, dont buy this one. Not because the cooker is bad, but because its by baumatic! They say that you only know about a brand when something goes wrong. Whoever said it is great! My cooker did go wrong and it took baumatic a good 4 months to give me a new one and I had to fight for it. And was tossed to and fro like a tennis ball by baumatic and empiredirect.co.uk (who I bought it from). Looks like both have been learning from each other about customer service! I`ve lost 3 days holidays and my peace of mind when baumatic were trying to fix my oven (as it was in warranty) which was cutting off due to no apparent reason. The engineer who visited my home also was extremely cocky and once he claimed to have fixed it, but left without checking whether it really is! and it broke again! He was supposed to be back to check what else was wrong, but the guy didnt turn up. Instead I got a phone call from him and he claimed that he knew what was wrong! Finally I had enough and demanded that replace. They did decide to replace, and said only deliver on working days. Now, I will have to take another day off to get the thing that caused me so much trouble in the first place. Paid a huge price when I bought the BT2001SS (abt £330), still paying a huge one for owning it. Hope you find this useful! Thanks for your patience. cheers arun 1 out of 5Arun - Be aware what you are getting into!11/06/2007 09:29:01

INDESITK3G2(W)/G WhiteWe live in rented accomodation, so we are at the mercy of the agents when anything needs replacing, but with this cooker they have even surpassed their own miserable worst for buying dirt cheap.\only the hob burners have spark ignition, the oven requires matches. The grill requires the fitting of a heat shield to save the knobs from melting.I have truly never seen a cooker like this one.The oven settings are on the bottom of the knob, requiring one to stand on ones head to read the settings. The design is poor and the build quality indifferent. If I were buying for myself, I would never pick this one. 1 out of 5Jeff09/02/2007 09:25:03

Stoves61GDO SSAgree with Gordon this oven should be avoided. It is impossible to tell what temperature the oven is set at without kneeling in the floor. Even then when testing the temperature the engineer said that 20 degrees either side was acceptable so if you think you have a setting or 5 it couls be 6 or 4 which they say is fine!!! 1 out of 5Nancy01/12/2006 15:01:51

STOVES600SIDLM SILVERWith regards to the loud humming, I had the same problem. I am a gas engineer so decided to investigate. I had an idea the solenoid valve to the grill may be faulty, since it was only noisy when the grill was in use and the sound got louder when the grill heated up (when the solenoid vavle opens fully after warming up). I changed the valve (only to be carried out by a corgi engineer) and hey presto.... problem solved!! 0 out of 5Irishman10/07/2008 18:59:26

ELBAC96GI purchased this cooker and there are alot of negative reviews about it which is very frustrating, as I am more than pleased with mine. It looks fantastic, easy to operate and cooks well. The oven does heat from the bottom, but the oven is large enough to fit 2 large oven trays in side by side on the centre shelf so you don`t need to put food on the bottom shelf (Who cooks like that anyway). Another negative review was that the grill pan is too, yes it is about 3 foot long, but I leave mine in the oven with no problems, unless it`s really dirty, but put tin foil on grill tray if you are cooking something messy like melting cheese etc. Excellent value for money, would recommend. I`ve had mine for a year and a half now and I love it. 5 out of 5Paul from Canvey Island19/02/2008 17:59:22

CANNONWESTMIN LPG WHThis is an outstanding oven. Ours is white, and is very easy to keep clean. The grill is stylish and powerful, and there is no bending down to use it. The oven is large and the storage tray is big as well. The hob has different sized burners and there is also a timer (useful for stews) and a countdown timer - which we use all the time.

We do not regret spending the extra to get a quality product.

CANNON10420GI bought this model thinking it would be as good as my previous Cannon double oven - big error! The bottom oven does not have the capacity of my previous cooker, the cooker only came with three shelves (one for the top oven, and two for the bottom) and I think that for the money I could have done a lot better. Just thinking about Christmas 2007 is enough to make me think about cutting corners, I am so compromised on cooking room when catering for many it is just not funny any more! Wish I had shopped around instead of going back to the brand I thought I knew. Won`t make that mistake again. The timer does its own thing, try putting in a cook time of 2 hours and the timer just goes and goes - its a little tinker to stop (usually have to press the back button) The Cannon looks well in the kitchen, and the burners are ok, but the cavities are definately smaller than my 53cm CannonII which I had for almost 18 years. 3 out of 5Pam29/11/2007 09:15:47

CANNONChester WhiteA fairly standard cooker. Takes ages to cook certain things like oven chips and they don`t evenly cook either. The section of the oven nearest the door is definitely the hottest and you need to remember this as you will need to adjust whatever you are cooking so the it doesn`t burn on one side. The bottom, main oven is quite a generous size and the glass door allows you to inspect whenever you are cooking without opening the oven door and loosing all the heat. The added advantage of having two ovens is very useful indeed and although small, the top oven is handy and is easily converted into a grill when needed. Personally I feel that this is an expensive oven for the job it does and you could probably purchase a much more efficient oven for the price. 3 out of 5Anon27/09/2007 14:15:26

CANNONWESTMINSTER NG WhiteAfter owning a canon cooker which served well for 18 years with no trouble I was keen to replace it with a new one HOWEVER after 18 MONTHS of owning a westminster the grill broke and then after another 6 months the door SHATTERED during the night whilst the cooker was OFF AND UNUSED FOR AT LEAST 8 HOURS.The manufacturer`s help line (now Indesit) wanted to charge #99 and would only guarantee it for 90 days! Also if the engineer decided it was irrepaiable this money would be forfeit! Of course if I opted for their monthly payments of #16.99 for ten months it would be guaranteed for a whole year! Surely this is a manufacturing fault but to chase this up would mean being without a cooker for how long? Probably over Christmas GREAT! FLAVELMILANO 60 BLACKI have reported my cooker to Curry`s, the trading standards, Gassure ( Corgi) and all tell me that because the latest model has been upgraded with better features that my complaint is not valid? I am concerned that someone out there with one of the earlier models will have an horrific accident with the pot stands sliding into the wells. The oven door seal is not secure - when you clean the door water ingresses inbetween the glass panels and you have to strip the door completely. The grill takes forever to heat up. The plastic handles and knobs have blistered. I would not replace this oven with another of the same manufacturer nor would I advise anyone else to either. By the way, does anyone actually take any notice of what we are saying? 1 out of 5David Vaillant, Scunthorpe29/10/2009 09:13:39

FLAVELMILANO 60 BLACKAVOID!!! I purchased this cooker just over 1 year ago, where to start with its problems? 1) Want to grill your bacon? Plan 1/2 hour ahead...yep, it really DOES take that long, the flames appear to be centralised and more of a flicker than flame 2) I liked the big oven...wish I had measured it first, ts wide, but shallow. Pizza trays don`t even fit in here! 3) Took the front knobs off to clean..never could get them on properly again, and why are they so cheap looking??? 4) Do you like to clean your cooker for hours on end? Then this is for you! Ridiculous design and much overuse of silly grooves, mean you will need to wrap a flat, blunt knife in a cloth to clean all these obnoxious details. Arghhh! 5) The timer. I wonder what time it is running on? Maybe Martian. Certainly not Earth time. 6) On Boxing Day 2009 I shall be heading for the sales to buy a new cooker. Only this time, I will ASK questions & take a measuring tape. And the Flavel Milan 60? I can put my hand on heart, and honestly say, this is the worst cooker I have ever, ever bought. I have spent more money on takeaways this year than ever before, just so I don`t have to fight with it too cook our dinners. -1 out of 10. 1 out of 5Sue05/10/2009 16:28:18

SERVISTGG60 STSTThis cooker is an absolute death trap. It has burned a huge whole in our floor - god only knows what would of happened if it wasnt for the fact that we had noticed a burning smell and decided to pull the cooker out to give the oven a clean - to find a huge smouldering hole with the gas pipe just above it!!! Scares me to death to think what could of happened. :-( Shame on Servis selling this cooker! 1 out of 5Judith22/07/2009 18:15:58

SERVISTGG60 STSTWe have had one of these fire traps for about two years. This Christmas day 2008 we noticed excess smoke coming from the back of the cooker, at first we put it down to the fat from the bird but thanks to my wife inisting it was abnornmal we pulled the oven away to find a foot wide hole like a burnt out bonfire. The cooker had burnt through the laminate and the floor boards minutes away from the joist. We are counting are blessings as are daughters bedroom is directly underneath and we contemplated cooking the turkey from the early hours. Is their any action that I should be taking. THIS IS A SERIOUSLY DANGEROUS PRODUCT. 1 out of 5Mark Solley30/12/2008 10:57:49

SERVISTGG60 STSTWe have had the same problem as all of those in these reviews, our Servis TGG60 gas cooker has burnt through our kitchen floor and could have burnt our house down. We contacted Servis who at first were very nice and said they would reimburse us the cost of the cooker and also pay for the floor to be fixed and they wanted to collect our oven so they could look into this problem as they said it must be a one off - looking at all these complaints it obviously isnt a one off. I have recently found out that Servis have now gone into liquidation, so I dont think there is any chance of getting anything out of Servis, I have had to get a loan out to buy a new cooker and repair my kitchen floor after waiting nearly 3 months for Servis to do this. I am so angry and upset about this issue as I have a young daughter in the house with me and the thought that our oven could have set light to our house is terrifying. I have contacted Watchdog and am about to email Trading Standards to. If you have one of these cookers in your house or are about to buy one DONT, it is a serious fire hazard and Servis will not do anything about it, especially now as they are bankrupt. I will never buy a Servis product again and recommend no one else does. 1 out of 5one very angry Servis Cooker owner.......07/11/2008 14:25:59

CANNONWESTMINSTER NG WhiteWhat a heap of %$£*.Had this cooker for 18 months. After the 1st 10 months A screw securing the spark plug in the oven broke. Then 4 months after that the glass in the front door just shattered, glass went everywhere. That cost £90 because guarantee had run out. Then last week the mess above the grill fell out.Yet more expense. All I can say is stay well clear, its a pile of junk.£600 its not worth £50. 1 out of 5Canonwestminsterowner18/07/2008 19:39:13

BELLINGEvolution 151Good sized ovens and very nice to use but the cooker is completely let down by poor/weak desighn of some parts. The knobs are flimsy plastic and after about 12-18 months give problems (they fall apart and become loose etc..). Belling supply free replacements but it is just an ongoing hassle. Also all the markings have worn away with just reasonable weekly cleaning with soapy water. 1 out of 5Philip15/04/2008 09:59:06

ZANUSSIZCG7690XNI have the same cooker. In its 3rd year the clock display and functions stopped working. Yesterday, at the start of its fourth year the main oven stopped working. I was preparing a meal for 7 people and had to cook the whole of it in a single oven shelf in the small oven, lighting it with a match, which I cannot do with the main oven due to it being programmed by the clock. How do you override the clock to make it work again? I had all the problems with the bleeping clock before it finally died. The cooker looks beautiful but there have been so many problems. 1 out of 5flower05/02/2008 10:52:12

ZANUSSIZCG7690XNZanussi cooker looks good and costs a pretty penny but has a design fault, which most Zanussi products seem to have!! The clock is over sensitive and can stop the oven operating at all if it experiences any problems. We were quoted £73.00+VAT for the clock alone and £65.00 for labour. My other half over rided the clock to get the bottom oven to start working - but hence no clock. The clock timer within the year was bleeping at any given time - I had not even set it. SERVISTGG60 STSTWe have had this cooker in since we bought the house in 2004. CANNON10555GMy mouth was watering for an eye level cooker. When we moved to a new and adapted home we searched everywhere for one. As it happened, Alders was ending their trading and we purchased a Cannon from them. We have had it serviced twice and replaced once in less than two years. The oven calibration is continually off. I must guess the temperature. It is a gas cooker. I always use the number below recommended temperature. Further, I always cook it approximately five minutes less than the recommended time. Cooking with my Cannon eye level gas model No 10555G is truly a guessing game. The pain peeled from the door front less than a year after delivery. The cooker was replaced because the grill was bent upon delivery. The back of the grill is always coated with horrible marks with each use requiring back-breaking cleaning. The hob is let so high that it is impossible to simmer food. The engineer`s explanation is that people no longer cook much and simmering stews, sauces and the like is a thing of the past. I took out an extended warrantee and wonder what to expect next week! I really want a replacement and brand change. I love cooking and baking and feel deprived. I am forced to use my convection oven and purchase expensive ready meals from Marks and Waitrose! Any comments? santa@chefsanta.co.uk 1 out of 5hobbed off!29/07/2006 21:41:11

SERVISTGG60 STSTWe bought this cooker 3 years ago and since then have had nothing but trouble, from undercooked to burnt food and handles falling to bits. However, the most serious problem with the cooker which we only just discovered, is that it almost burnt down our house, by burning though our floor tiles and floorboards over a period of 10 months! It could have set the whole house on fire as the insulation beneath it is not adequate. This appliance is not safe, do not buy it. 1 out of 5Denise18/02/2006 09:29:27

LEISUREGourmet 60 CreamI purchased one of these cookers from Curry’s 30/07/2005 - very disappointed with it - the markings on the controls has completely worn off so that you don`t know what gas mark it is set at - glue is coming out of the display, the griddle and the burners have all rusted and the oven handle has come off - not bad for a 6 month old cooker! Curry`s have refitted the handle and I am awaiting a new display, griddle and burners - but think they won’t last. 1 out of 5Pete10/02/2006 08:20:42

SERVISTGG60 STSTI bought this cooker to replace one I have had for 15 years. As with most cookers now the griller has no attached handle and is very difficult to lift in & out. It also has a heat deflection shield that must be in place to avoid burning your hands as the controls are set above the grill & become very hot if the shield is not in place. Both ovens burn the food from the base up even though the top of the food remains uncooked. I have tried everything to prevent this but bases continue to come out black. An engineer was sent to upgrade the cooker & I expected the fault to be fixed. Servis would not give details on the upgrade other than to say it was free. A piece of tin plate on the base was replaced with an identical piece of steel - food is still burnt on the base. The engineer Servis sent was not theirs but a contracted out engineer - he caused a lot of damage to my kitchen that Servis will not accept responsibility for & the contractors say he did not do as their engineer has never had any complaints before. I am still left with a rubbish cooker & now a repair bill for floor & kitchen unit damage due to negligence. I would not buy a Servis product again. 1 out of 5Gerard27/08/2005 11:02:13

SERVISTGG60 STSTThis cooker is a fire trap!!!!!!!! It is capable of being a death trap and I hope to god it doesn`t come to that in any case. I have to go out and buy a new cooker because this one decided to burn a hole right through my kitchen door on Boxing day! Over a course of a year this cooker (tgg60) got progressively worse, burning food, smoking , oven door becominging unhinged etc etc. It was becoming a nightmare to use the oven and I knew I would have to replace the cooker at some point because it the oven door couldn`t even close without me having to lean a heavy object against the door...I know-ridiculous!!!! Anyway as I was cooking my turkey, my house got smoked out!!!!! Not wanting to die from choking from smoke inhalation I turned it off and next day decided to give the tiles a thorough clean...to my horror...there was a deep, burnt out hole underneath right above the gas pipe!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I`m still in shock and counting my blessings because I hve 3 young children who I love dearly. To think that this piece of dangerous junk could`ve ended all our lives makes me sooooooooooooooo ANGRY! Servis you have got alot to answer for, everyone who bought this cooker should be compensated 3 times over what it cost to buy! The fact that our homes could`ve burnt down and our lives possibly ended not to mention the blooming inconvenience of the mess, fixing the floor, waiting for people to come and fix the floor, finding the money to buy a new replacement cooker and the emotional trauma of knowing that we were seconds away from death....need I continue????????????! I would NEVER buy another Servis product again and will be extra cautious in choosing my next cooker or any other appliance. DO NOT BUY THIS COOKER OR ANY OTHER SERVIS PRODUCT!!!!!!!!!!!! OR YOU MAY NOT LIVE TO TELL THE TALE.....BE WARNED AND BEWARE. THIS PRODUCT CANNOT BE RATED, IT IS OFF THE SCALE! 0 out of 5Lorraine01/02/2009 13:27:12
