Sumvision2.5 Aluminum Hard Drive Enclosure USB 2.0Patchy. I`ve had one of these for about a year. While USB 1.1 support seems reasonably stable, neither my XP desktop or laptop recognise the device when connected via firewire. USB2 support works OK on my laptop, but on the desktop it doesn`t like to play ball, even when plugging the device into the ports hardwired onto the mainboard. The mainboard on my desktop is an Asus K8N-SLI Premium from October 2005, and plays quite happily with other USB 2 peripherals. If you`re going to use this for smallish files the device performs quite happily, although with hindsight I`d have preferred to spend a bit more to get a faster data transfer speed. 2 out of 5Bombdog11/04/2007 07:15:02

Maxtor300GB Maxtor 3200 External USB2 HDD 7200RPM 16MB Cache Retail U15H300The Maxtor 3200 jumped right up and ran on two laptops running XP-home, -BUT- only runs occasionally on my desktop w/XP-Pro. Oh, and it only runs -on the desktop- after it has been connected to a laptop, and then it disappears after some random period of time. An interesting, but frustrating, piece of hardware. Maxtor`s website has no insight whatsoever. 2 out of 5Searching5502/01/2007 09:25:39

Maxtor300GB Maxtor 3200 External USB2 HDD 7200RPM 16MB Cache Retail U15H300I`ve had a very similar experience. The disk ran connected to my XP laptop for about a week, then the drive disappeared completely. Maxtor support is useless and I haven`t found a fix yet. There are dozends of reports of similar experiences posted on the Internet. I`m going to return it to the place I bought it from. 1 out of 5Leon20/02/2007 18:25:46

FUJITSUMHN2300ATI have had to replace this drive not once but twice on a Rock Sigma Si. After the first failure the machine was no longer used as a portable but still it failed again.

Either we are very unlucky or this model has problems.

Maxtor300GB Maxtor 3200 External USB2 HDD 7200RPM 16MB Cache Retail U15H300Maxtor is useless! I bought a Maxtor 4 Plus 500GB HD and only after about 2 months of using, I lost it! The HD refused to appear on my desktop! They told me that I would have to pay for data retrieval if I decide to return the disk and want my data back even though the HD is still under warranty! Their support service, what support??? I swear never to buy any of Seagate`s product ever in my lifetime! 0 out of 5Anon12/03/2008 14:59:01

SamsungHM060IIThe HD has died after only 5 months of light use!!!! This is in a Dell Inspiron 1300. So much for their advertised reliability. Oh, and the Sony cd/dvd drive packed up only two weeks ago.
