HITACHIAXM67I have had one of these units for 2 years and the sound is excellent for such a small sized unit. Very stylish and will not date. The tuner is excellent and is very easy to use. Cost me about #160 new but I consider it to be money well spent as it is still in daily use 5 out of 5sloggermacnabs27/01/2009 07:43:46

SonyCMTCPZ1The Sony CMT-CPZ1DAB is an outstanding product. It can be set up in about five minutes and it is very easy to use. The bass which can be adjusted to suit you. The only fault with this radio is that the casette deck makes quite a racket when you press the buttons to play, rewind etc. This is not a problem for me because i barely use the casette deck but it may be a problem for people who use this a lot. The CD player is of very high quality. The system has a slot loading CD player. This is a brilliant radio which is of very high quality. Well Done Sony for this great radio and well done Amazon for delivering it well before the estimated delivery date. I strongly recommend this product for anyone who wants a radio with high quality sound output.5 out of 5Amazon Reviewer30/12/2008 01:01:01

PhilipsMCM398D/05After buying for christmas ive got to say thank you amazon and city link for delvering my hifi in time for christmas with super saver delivery. i was e xpecting it to come on the 27th but it came on the 23rd, awesome. after setting up hifi, plugged it in, tried some cds, simply amazing sound quality. shame that u cant control the amount of treble and bass though, instead u get presets and bass boost, but the presets are good, so im not all that bothered. the speakers are completely wooden, nicely designed, wicked tweeters, just again.. awesome. shame there isnt any DAB, and shame u dont get a aux slot at the back of the system, since i have line in to connect to permantly (to my computer) im a little dissapointed cos that means the cable have to stay at the front. the hifi itself looks awesome, volume knob lights up blue when u adjust volume, and it gradually turns off w hen u leave it alone - classy. fm radio - it picked up all my stations automatically with the (im sorry) the stupid piece of wire :P so i guess i have good reception. so: good poitns - amazing sound quality looks awesome amazingly designed speakers nice range of features bad points- no aux at the back no manual control of sound (im not all that bothered though, presets are good) sorry but i written this in a jhurry, so excuse my grammer and my typos 5 out of 5Amazon Reviewer24/12/2008 01:01:01

SonyCMTSPZ90DABSo glad that I ignored the negative comments about the Sony CMT-SPZ90DB Micro Hifi System - With DAB Radio and Cassette Deck. What a great little system, easy to set up, very neat and produces quality sound - brilliant for the price. No problems with DAB reception where I live (Brighton area). Yes, speaker cables are incredibly short - didnt bother with HDD power connectors as suggested in earlier review, simply cut cables and stripped back 1" each end before joining extra length of speaker cable bought from local tv shop, just ensure that you cover joins adequately with electrical tape (sound quality not impaired at all). My only gripe would be that the user manual is a bit basic and not particularly user friendly but it does do the job. Many thanks to Amazon for speedy service - ordered sun pm, parcel arrived Tues am, brilliant service. 5 out of 5Amazon Reviewer18/12/2008 01:01:01

SONYCMTEH10This product is a great micro system for any room in the house. It`s dsgx function add lots of bass. It is also suprisingly load. Although it says 2x5W speakers; it has a high current delivery and is louder than I expected it to be. It`s pumps out the same volume as some micro systems with 2x10 or 15W stated. A perfect gift but can the front be removed to see the speaker????. 5 out of 5joe wickham02/11/2008 07:06:46

PhilipsWAC3500D/05brought this accidently off amazon, i was going for the flat panel model. mine arrived and there was no instructions in the box apart from the quick set up guide which in the end is all i needed. managed to connect it to my laptop fine by going through my modem/router. the wirelees station was a little harder to sort, just make sure that in the network settings in both units there set up correctly. only issue i had with the unit was after uploading cds in to the hard drive and turning the unit off at the plug songs wouldnt save. i later found out u have to hold down the standby button to save settings and songs etc, the ipod docking station a nice touch as well, sound quiality is really good which i wasnt expecting. if you buy 1 just be patient with it and it will all come together fine. if u have instructions then the skyz the limit5 out of 5Amazon Reviewer25/09/2008 01:01:01

SonyCMTCPZ1This product scores well on several fronts. If youre looking for a decent sounding music system thats easy to use and fits well in a bedroom or small living-room, the CMT-CPZ1DAB will see you right. The sound quality is top-notch, with good amplification and two powerful speakers. The bass & treble settings are handy (for a fuller sound set both of these to the maximum, ie. +4). The central unit stands at a neat 240 x 260 x 175 and each speaker is only slightly larger. Your average bedside locker will accommodate the main unit plus ONE of the speakers. And it looks well. For optimum enjoyment set the other speaker on the far side of the bed. I had to purchase an extra metre of speaker-cable because my double-bed is 150 wide and the cables supplied fall somewhat short of that. Take my word for it, its WELL worth the extra few pennies and the 10 minutes of DIY! If your bed-width is 120 or narrower, extra cable wont be necessary. The "Sleep" feature is useful and can be set at intervals of 10 minutes up to a maximum of 90 minutes. Theres also "Sleep Auto", which is handy when dozing off to a CD or tape. One minor flaw is that it only allows you to preset 20 DAB stations. This is mildly irritating because I spend a good deal of time in Dublin, which has 21 DAB stations! Anyway, about half of them also transmit on FM so I just picked my least favourite and stored it on one of the FM presets instead (which kinda defeats the purpose of DAB slightly). Anyway its a good set and Ive just bought a second one, which is already installed in my spare bedroom! Sony have a similar looking set with a similar model number but it doesnt have DAB! Make sure you order the version that has the letters DAB in the model number. 5 out of 5Amazon Reviewer10/09/2008 01:01:01

TECHNICSSCDV280Hey chicken, The reason the volume goes down is because it`s measured in dB, not a number that has no real representation of the actual sound level. This is a great feature for checking the sound against other systems. ie. -30dB should sound the same volume on any other system (room dependant). As someone who works in the entertainment industry, this is a great unit for the home - I even run my CD decks for DJ`ing through it when I`m trying new sets at home! For the average person at home, it`s a great unit with heaps of grunt with clarity. Only real major negatives: no digital input & no 5.1 input. (I had to purchase seperate speakers and amp for my PC`s sound output.) A great unit worth every cent for the sound quality. Best enjoyed when set near to manufacturers reccomended speaker placement, but every room is different so experiment before hard mounting the satellite speakers. 5 out of 5DJ Johnny www.soundclick.com/djjohnny27/08/2008 17:45:47

JVCUXNB7DABBought this little puppy a couple of days ago. I liked it because its stylish and very different from the range of others that I looked at. It also has the name of JVC attached to it, which I trust from experience. From the box, it took me less than 10 minutes to put together. Within half an hour, the radio stations had self-tuned, and I was playing a CD. All working perfectly. DAB clarity great. I paid £89 for mine, and I just love it. No negative issues at all with it. Understated, a little minimalist, does just what I want. What more could you ask?5 out of 5Amazon Reviewer25/08/2008 01:01:01

HitachiAXM133The Hitachi Slimline CD/DAB Music system - book shelf design, fits perfectly on any bookshelf and sound quality is superb. The USB and memory card slots are extremely useful for playing custom playlists and the aux 3.5mm jack, enables connection to most things with the jack leads enclosed with the product. There is no need to look at the instruction manual to put it together, It’s very easy to install as ports are colour-coded and clearly, logically labelled. I have been using this product for over a year now and it’s still a great seller. I would definitely recommend it to anyone. It comes with 2 sets of connections for the speakers so you can add an extra set. 5 out of 5bigdou11/05/2008 08:05:25

TEACMCDX220ISThe sound is great and clear! The speakers are very well designed and the sub makes a massive difference. It’s a sleek design but I thought it’s a little much for £200 but knowing it can play CR-R’s, CD-RW’s as well as MP3 is great and it has an ipod slot which come with different adaptors for the type of ipod you have. Make sure it supports your ipod adaptor before you buy. It also has DAB which is great. I am normally really fussy when it comes to technology and wouldn’t buy anything that lacks quality but I can assure you this system is more than adequate for the home. It also comes with a sleek remote control which actually feels like a proper high quality remote. I will give it 9/10, if it can also produce club banging sound then I would give it 10/10. 5 out of 5Tony20/12/2007 13:03:41

TECHNICSSCDV290I have owned this stereo for what must have been a whole life time. I purchased this product back in 1998 when DVD was an un heard of technology. I bought it then for a cool £420 from a shop called stage 2. Sadly this shop has been taken over by Comet and the current hi fi is £499.95. How can this be after 9 years in exsistence. Yes this is supreme quality but where is the price drop. Come on your not telling me that there isn`t a better hi fi out since 1998. I think your taking the .... comet.

PHILIPSFWM730I`ve owned this system for nearly 3years and it still shocks me how amazing it makes any song sound. Its very loud for a system of this price, I paid #200 but its probably cheaper now. I`ve had the volume to 40 (max) and believe me it shakes the place. I wish it had surround sound and an optical input but to be honest I can`t fault it and probably never will. Definetly consider this system if your looking to buy, especially if ur a bass junkie, when u turn on the w00x bass it really kicks, I personally keep mine on all the time. I hope this helps. SonyCMTGPX9DABThis was bought for a student to go to university with. The big surprise for me was that it came back every year still working, and after three years of being shoved around in halls of residence, shared rooms, backs of cars and so on its still going strong. The DAB has to be the top feature of this nifty bit of kit, it works really well. The CD is only average though, with some doubtful mechanical moments. The cassette is very good, legendary Sony mechanism at work here. The speakers are a good point, unlike many compact hifi systems these are really chunky, well engineered and put out a high quality, balanced sound with enough volume to feed a reasonable student party in a room. 5 out of 5Amazon Reviewer20/06/2008 01:01:01

PanasonicSCPMX2DBEBSI cant comment on the iPod issue because I just wanted a good micro system that would play CDs and receive DAB radio, had reasonable wattage output and a fair degree of control over balance and tone. I have not been disappointed and am happy that I made the right choice. Unlike some other systems, there is no discernible hum when in standby mode and CDs play very quietly with no breaks between tracks, (not that Ive noticed anyway). The DAB connection is straightforward coaxial, so can easily be connected to a suitable TV aerial for good reception. Build quality is excellent and everything is reassuringly solid. Oh, the blue-green lights are pretty cool too! 5 out of 5Amazon Reviewer08/05/2008 01:01:01

HitachiAX M140Bought this system yesterday and so far so good. I`m not using the speakers that came with it, as I have a set of B&O which obviously have greater clarity/sound etc. I`m impressed with the look of the system, and the DAB sounds great. Not tried the MP3 bit yet but from the manual it looks pretty simple to drag and drop tunes via pc - basically you plug it in to your pc and it gets picked up as a new drive then you can copy and paste tracks on to it. Only fault I have so far is that my Toshiba Gigageat MP3 doesn`t work when you plug in the front, but as many things these days it was designed with IPOD in mind and not every other run of the mill mp3. So far so good. 5 out of 5Anon17/07/2007 12:29:05

JVCMXGT91RI bought mine back in 2000! Since then I`ve blown the amps and taken out the left subwoofer. Replaced them and it`s still taking a thrashing. This system really is incredible... when i purchased it, i`d never heard any other mini system that offered as much deep rumbling bass! Truely a brilliant system. The amps only recently packed up again after a party i had. i`ve not bought myself a 1000watt panasonic surround system. SO, i took out the jvc subs out of the cabinets and am going to make some enclosures myself and mount them in there as one solid subwoofer box! 5 out of 5lall11/06/2007 09:29:17

SHARPXL-HP600EI bought this hifi about 5 years ago now and have never had a problem with it. Im not a wizz when it comes to music quality, however the sound the speakers produce is clear, and if you want it to be, very very punchy. If you turn on the X-Bass system the amount of bass it produces is mind blowing. You can of course turn down the bass by turning of the X-Bass and select a softer equalizer option. The Sharp has 6 equalizer options ranging from vocal to rock. It has a 3 CD multichanger that playes CD/RW. It includes all the usual stuff like AM/FM radio with pre-sets and tape recorder as well as a video/aux port which you can plug an i-pod/computer etc into. On the back there is an option of pluging in a subwoofer if you feel the need for more bass (as i said before, the amount of bass it produces with its own speakers is amazing). The digital clock and sleep timer are also nice handy features, along with the remote control that you can control everything with, such as the volume, choosing one of the three cd,s, tuning the radio etc. Overall I am very pleased with this product. Not only is it hard wearing, looks good and is well priced (cost me £150 in comet), it sounds amazing and does everything you would expect a more expensive unit to produce. If your looking for a small hifi that has all your basic needs and has good, loud sound quality, the Sharp XL-HP600 is for you. P.S, when I bought my sharp about 5 years ago, the following week I saw the Sharp XL-HP800 which has 200 Watts (50 watts more than the XL-HP600) for the exact same price from Argos. May be worth hunting for that one. 5 out of 5Mat H03/06/2007 07:34:02

Ministry of SoundMOSDV006I love this product, It`s brilliant and it`s small so no need to rearrange your room to accommodate it and you get great sound quality out of it, just a warning though make sure that you have stopped it properly as one of the design flaws is that it will be a little bitch about it, easy way to fix it just gently push the lense back and close the lid this will reset the system 5 out of 5Alexiel_Sama25/04/2007 12:05:05

OnkyoCS515UKDo NOT buy an ONKYO CS315UK, they are built down to a price for Currys, and this is shown in the performance, you get a humming/whistling sound when playing cd`s at reasonably high volumes. I replaced mine 3 times with Currys, even their display model had the fault. The CS515UK however is superb, and worth every penny of the extra £70. Currys are pulling consumers pants down with cheap electronics, like Hitachi Hi-Fi`s, that are actually re-badged Ferguson`s, as Currys bought the Hitachi name for audio systems. PANASONICSCPM28I was bought this cd player for one christmas a while back (yes, over a year...WOW!) and mine still works brilliant. The sound is incredibly loud for a micro hi fi (2x70watts) not only is it loud, but its one of the only sound systems of its size ive found to have incredible sound too, playing a live disc can sometimes feel like you`re in the concert. The system is asthetically pleasing, it looks intresting and is different to many others, yet still not too obscure looking. It also has a 5CD changer, which is very useful for someone like me who has a large CD collection. It also has a clock/alarm clock, which is unbelievably useful! For its size and price, in my opinion (and my friends who have seen it) its one of the best available top notch stuff! 5 out of 5Wrecking doll13/02/2007 08:42:47

SONYCMTM373NTThis is a brilliant little system. It`s small, neat & powerful!

Sony have thought of nealy everything for this little gizmo. Tape, MD, CD, & tuner. Full remote from pc via usb.

The sound quality is awesome given that; for it`s size the bass is real mellow.

A good buy!!

Ministry of SoundMOSTS072Excellent! I never buy things on impulse, but I decided this was as cheap as buying a hi fi and a stand together. Sound quality is excellent and loud enough to rock your house and deafen your neighbours, and the style impresses everyone. Would definitely reccommend it. 5 out of 5Mat22/09/2006 11:42:29
