I bought this receiver in the hope of getting a unit that is both musicaland great at HT. Build quility is good as is the feature list. Sound wise Circle surroundhas more punch than the other standard surround modes like NEO:6. EX/ESperformance is stunning and yes it is musical in stereo mode.
My only complaint is a high pitched tone that comes from all thespeakers. It's a low volume noise that can sometimes only be heard a footor so from the speakers but at other times it's very noticable. This noise has been mentioned by other users but I don't know how widespread it is. I am currently dealing with a Marantz rep trying to solvethe problem, although they seem to doubt that there is a problem. Trust me It is a problem and for this one reason alone I would say stayaway from this model until it's cleared up.
Having said that, at the times when the noise isn't noticable I would ratethis a 5 but sadly until the noise is fixed I can only give it a 2.
