Ipod Chargers Buyers Guide
Normally you charge your iPod through the USB cable supplied with your iPod from Apple. If you damage or lose your USB cable then you can always order another directly from Apple. An alternative method of charging is through an iPod compatible dock, either one you have bought that allows you to listen to your iPod through speakers at home whilst simultaneously charging your iPod, or the universal iPod charging dock available from Apple. Aside from these standard charging methods, there are some other iPod chargers that are available, for added convenience in certain situations, that some users will find of particular interest.
For those iPod owners who use their iPods for extensive periods away from any kind of charging source, combined iPod chargers and battery packs are well worth considering. These iPod chargers work off battery packs that are normally of similar dimensions to an iPod touch (so not too large and bulky). Any iPod that has a docking port can be connected to the battery pack through a supplied cable. A fully charged battery pack will supply enough power to recharge your iPod several times (exactly how many depends on the iPod model), which could amount to an additional 100 hours of music playback. So you can ensure that your iPod has power for a considerable period of time. The battery pack itself can be recharged through a mains electrical socket. Similar, smaller (and less expensive) battery packs are also available that give around 30 hours of additional audio playback, if you feel that will be sufficient for your needs.
If you use your iPod a lot whilst travelling abroad then you may be interested in travel iPod chargers. These come with a USB cable that connects the docking port of your iPod to a mains electrical plug. Such travel iPod chargers are available with UK, US, EU and AU electrical plugs, so they can be used to charge your iPod without a computer all around the world.
It is also possible to buy iPod chargers that will charge your iPod through the 12V power outlet in your car. This is particularly useful if you use your iPod in your car a lot and means you will always arrive at your destination with your iPod fully charged. Car iPod chargers are available for any iPod with a dock connection.
