| Philips | HD4666 | After much research and being thoroughly put off all kettles by the lack of good reviews, and being at the end of our tether with our existing kettle that poured more water on the worktop than in the cup, we opted for this as a mid price range kettle that we hoped would just do the job. It was delivered today and I can honestly say I was nearly moved to tears with how pleased I was when we first used it.
The first thing that struck me was that boiling our old kettle sounded like being on the second runway at Heathrow. I have read some reviews that say the Philips is noisy. All I can say is that out of all the kettles I have heard boil in my life this is the quietest.
The most important aspect for us was how it poured. Not a drop was spilled. It is a pleasure to pour.
Im not a tea drinker, but I could definitely taste the difference in the water - much better.
Someone has made a comment about the spout being too wide for the steam sensor to register when it has boiled. Its barely 2 or 3 seconds that it adds to the boil time and if it does bother you then put a tea towel over the spout. | | Amazon Reviewer | 21/01/2009 01:01:01 |

| Prestige | 50523 | Fab price, fab kettle (though, as with all metal kettles you have to take care not to touch the chrome when hot!) Boils quickly, not too noisy, easy to fill etc etc | | Amazon Reviewer | 09/01/2009 01:01:01 |

| Morphy Richards | 43673 | We have had this kettle for nearly two years and it is as close to perfect as makes no difference. It is easy to handle, sits well on its (360 degree) base, fills quickly through both the spout and (faster) the flip lid which is easily thumb operated. It has a novelty blue light as it boils which is not obtrusive and has an optional musical note when it boils (can be switched off via the base). It has a very clear 2/4/6/8 cups measure as the kettle is filled so there is no need to waste either water or electricity. Finally it has a coffee (95 degrees) or Tea (100 degrees) setting so that there is no need to burn the beans when making coffee (or to over heat water for hot water bottles and the like). It sits in the hand properly and is very easy to use. A really proficient consumer product. If only the rest were the same. | | Amazon Reviewer | 13/12/2008 01:01:01 |

| Morphy Richards | 43121 | I have to give credit to Morphy Richards where due. Having had the kettle for over 3 years it has been used many times. Some of the other comments complain about a plastic filter located at the top of the kettle which falls off if the kettle isnt filled correctly but so what it can be put back on very easily or used without it.The ergonomic design makes it a great kettle and when its powered on it looks even better if youre into electric blue.
Unfortunately the kettle packed up this week. Having sent an email to the Morphy Richards customer careline they identified it was out of warranty but offered me a replacement to the newer model at a VERY much reduced price. Their help line were very helpful, courteous it wasnt a premium number as per most consumer help lines and overall the service has been excellent.
Rock on Morphy Richards. | | Amazon Reviewer | 12/12/2008 01:01:01 |

| Breville | JK121 | THIS IS A FANTASTIC KETTLE, DOES EXACTLY WHAT IT SAYS ON THE TIN, UP UNTIL THE KEEP WARM FUNCTION STOPPED WORKING.
KETTLE IS ONLY 3 WEEKS OLD.
I GOT A FLICKER OUT OF THE LITTLE LIGHT THAT TELLS YOU THE KEEP WARM IS WORKING BUT THATS IT.

| Kenwood | JK740/750 WHITE | Ive owned my kettle for over 8 years now, and I still think its the best kettle out there. Unlike a lot of more modern designs its very light and quiet. I particularly like the lid opener, situated exactly where you need it - under your thumb on the handle. For the price, you cant go wrong! | | Amazon Reviewer | 16/11/2008 01:01:01 |

| Morphy Richards | 43318 | Im very pleased with this kettle. Its very quiet, and it actually BOILS for a few seconds, unlike many others which barely reach the boil before clicking off.
The spout is wide, so its easy to fill from this area, and the whistle is subtle.
Once the water is switched on to boil the blue illuminated panel glows softly.
The kettle is fairly heavy once filled, but also stable.
All in all its the best kettle Ive bought in a long while. | | Amazon Reviewer | 14/11/2008 01:01:01 |

| Philips | HD4666 | Usually buying a Kettle is a mine field, but having read the reviews on Amazon I decided to go with the flow, and I have to say I am impressed !
It looks great, its solid, the switch isnt thin & nasty plastic. It boils very quickly and the tea tastes good. and above all it has an easy fill spout and a good water gauge. No need to look at anything else. Well done Philips. | | Amazon Reviewer | 30/09/2008 01:01:01 |

| Kenwood | JK60 | For a travel kettle what did I want?
Compact - yes, Lightweight - yes
Reasonable time to boil - yes. Note the instructions state 5 mins for 240v and nearly 6 mins for 110v. Given the 450ml (0.8 pint for silver surfers) and the 650 watt heating element these times are to be expected from simple physics. First boil took just under 5 mins but the water was room temperature to begin with.
So if you are away on holiday and using bottled water dont use water from the fridge if you want your hot drink in 5 mins!
Cups and spoons - bonus. The cups have no handles but are thick plastic with an even thicker rim at the top. So they dont get too hot to hold. The cups and spoons fit inside the kettle for transport. This leave a small space for a sachet or two of coffee or sugar - but not enough for an instant latte pouch.
Overall - a GOOD 4* kettle. | | Amazon Reviewer | 29/08/2008 01:01:01 |

| BREVILLE | JK71 | I got my kettle at Tesco (check out price:-). I just had to come and right a review. I love the modern style of this kettle and its petite size which makes it neither heavy or bulky. The lid is excellent for easy filling without having to precisely aim the water flow (brilliant for those mornings with a hangover - you could do it with your eyes shut). The water gauge is nice and clear and illuminates into a nice crisp blue/white colour when switched on to boil. Despite the other reviews stating theirs are noisy I have to say my kettle is extremely quiet. I can hardly hear it when I am stood next to it and if it wasn`t for the rather `chic` ding noise it makes when it has boiled I would not know it had finished boiling. AND IT DOESNT END THERE I also find the pour on this kettle fantastic (no more lumpy gravy for me caused by my previous slow pouring kettles). I would recommend this kettle to anyone. A must have for the trendy types. Although it is more expensive than most I already feel even after 4 days it is well worth the money. I just hope it will stand the test of time and outlive my cheaper kettles that have only lasted 2 years max. Watch this space. Go on, go and buy one now, you know you want to. | | Anon | 17/08/2006 20:58:56 |

| Kenwood | SJ300 | Smart, stylish and it boils water very quickly too (one cup takes approx 40 seconds)!!! Trigger mechanism built into handle releases the hinged lid for easy filling. A blue glow can be seen through the dual window and at top of lid whilst kettle is on. Storage for flex within power-base. Bought mine at Comet today for the knock down price of £19.99 (£20.00 off usual retail price). | | Hosea | 02/04/2006 07:58:55 |

| RUSSELL HOBBS | 10786 | I purchased this Russell Hobbs Copper Kettle, model 10786, with the matching toaster just over 5 years ago and have never had any trouble with it at all. It is a beautiful solid warm copper kettle and still looks almost new! The flip top is so easy to use when filling the kettle, no messing about with taking lids off and trying to get them back on again. The rapid boil feature works wonders and the water level display to the front is clear to see when deciding how much water you wish to boil. Not only is it the best kettle I have ever used it still looks fantastic in my kitchen too! | | Amazon Reviewer | 22/01/2009 01:01:01 |

| PRIMA | PGK100 (WHITE) | I have had my Kettle since July 2000 in that time I have had several free lids supplied by the distributor in my area, I can no longer contact them and need a new lid as the catch has gone again This is the only problem with the product and I would not change it. The best kettle I have had in 40 years of marriage May I add that I bought one for the office of 20 people at the same time and again the only problem is the lid. | BRITA | Acclario Select Water Filter Kettle | We have had this kettle for a year now and would not change it for any other. Best we have ever had. | ROWENTA | KE400 | Brilliant! Best kettle I ever owned. It lasted 5 years and then only the lid broke.... but considering it`s over-used (with 2 babies at home!) it`s not surprising. It pours well (and not many kettles do!), boils quickly, looks nice (not cheap and plastic-y like a lot of them), good price.... only now I can`t seem to find a replacement - have they been discontinued? Bought another instead, and it`s not a patch on the rowenta. Bring it back please!!! | | Carolyn, Eastbourne | 27/03/2007 13:01:11 |

| RUSSELL HOBBS | 12064 | Great kettle while it lasted, very cute with the different coloured lights for heating and simmer. and we only paid £27 for ours three years ago. It was well worth that much. The top`s a bit small but it`s easy to fill up through the spout, and as the description says, we`ve never had to clean any limescale out. But! it developed the same problem we`ve had with all our `window` kettles. The seal round the plastic window started leaking after the warranty ran out. The simmer facility was a pure novelty for us, after we found we kept leaving it simmering away for hours, our electricity bill went up till we stopped using it. Would we buy another one? Yes, it boils faster than my wifes temper. It`s still in use, leaking away on the draining board till I get round to buying another one, which is why I was on this site. Look for one with three years warranty! | | Tea boy | 13/02/2007 08:41:31 |

| RUSSELL HOBBS | 12064 | Had this kettle for about 4 years only problem had until a couple of days ago is the loss of the blue bulb so no blue or purple colour. Two days ago the auto switch off stopped working and i noticed condinsation in the switch light!! I have to admit in the past 4 years it has had very hard usage as I am a teaholic and the simmer function I find is a life saver. Would I get it again? | Breville | White Spectra Kettle | I love this kettle, I think its fantastic and the colour changing effects are great. But like others mines going back to Argos since its developed an annoying fault. The lid keeps popping open. It stays closed fine enough when the kettles cold, but as it starts to boil (and obviously things expand when they get hot) the lid pops open letting a huge cloud of boiling steam out (bad if ur heads anywhere near at the time), plus it wont then sence the waters boiling and switch the kettle off (bad if ur not near the kettle at the time) and it sometimes springs open when ur pouring the boiling water into the cup. Apart from that Ive had no problems at all, I love the kettle. But someting as simple as an unreliable catch on the lid means I have to return it and by the sounds of it keep my fingers crossed the replacement isnt worse! | | Ollie | 05/08/2007 08:21:07 |
