AlessiJuicy Salif Citrus Fruit SqeezerI own the alumnium one and also the black/grey one. There are certainly a design statement piece. look absolutley fabulous in a modern kitchen. Since i bought the black one have recently been told that it is a collectors piece as they are so hard to get hold of. would love to know how much the black one is worth if anyone knows. 5 out of 5Kerry26/09/2008 07:30:29

Brabantia50 Litre Chrome Touch Bin.My Mum has one of these bins. She works in a school kitchen so food hygiene is very important which makes her `house-proud` for wont of a better word. I know for a fact she loves this bin. If you make sure to use the special Brabantia bin liners. The lid is removed to place them inside and once the lid is back on again you cannot see the liner, it`s brilliant! Luckily, she has never had a problem with the mechanism in the lid and I believe Brabantia replace THE WHOLE LID FOR NOTHING if she did, which is great customer service. Mum has had the bin for about 2-3 years now and she likes the fact the bin hides odours but make sure the bin doesn`t become overful as it takes a superhuman effort to lift the full liner out of the bin. Argos have reduced this bin even more in price which means I will buy one myself very, very shortly

BrabantiaBuilt-in BinI`ve just bought and installed this bin from Argos. It is absolutely superb. Cuts out the whole bin sloppy mess nightmare with its automatic lid. The bin tucks away out of sight in your cupboard. The capacity is surprisingly large - 15 litres. It is a wide bin so you can easily empty a dustpan into it without spillage. It also looks good - well, as much as a bin can look good. 5 out of 5Dr Ian Gibson02/02/2006 09:26:20

Brabantia50 Litre Chrome Touch Bin.You can teach an old dog new tricks and at 57 I have found this... Wonderful Bin! If you have the space buy two - one for wet and one for dry. The touch opening, interior size, and good looks have won me over. I even put the top into the dishwasher if and when cleaning is required. 5/55 out of 5christine cave27/01/2003 09:43:54

KENWOODSB206After resolving to eat more fruit and cut down on the booze, I decided that a smoothie maker might be a sound investment. After browsing Amazon I plumped for the Kenwood SB206 as it looked like a fairly handsome beast and the reviews were generally positive, although some reviewers had reservations, most notably about the spout clogging and the difficulty in cleaning the unit. Both of these concerns are unfounded, the spout works well, if you keep the machine running whilst dispensing, something that is made abundantly clear in the instructions. I really fail to see why anyone would complain that the machine is difficult to clean! The parts are easy to remove and rinse through, on the proviso that you wash it shortly after use. I dont own a dishwasher, but understand that jug and components arent dishwasher-proof, but it takes so little effort to wash, this should only put off the most slothful individuals. So far I have used this smoothie maker without any real problems and have enjoyed some extremely tasty smoothies, the controls are absolute childs play and the recipe sheet in the back of the instructions is extremely useful source of inspiration for the beginner. This smoothie maker can take everything I have chucked in it and chews up ice with absolute ease, albeit more loudly than I anticipated. Please remember this is not a juicer and you need to remove any stones or pips in the fruit you place in the machine - although in a machine costing a little over 20 quid it would be extremely churlish to complain about this. The machine comes with complete with a stirring stick, which seems to be a fairly pointless accessory and the Kenwood is a bit larger than some other models, but this is mere nitpicking. I am more than happy with my smoothie maker ; it has been terrific fun experimenting with different combinations of fruit, ice and juice. For the money it is certainly a sound buy. 4 out of 5Amazon Reviewer04/05/2008 01:01:01

KENWOODSB206I am new to the whole Smoothie drinking craze but thought I would give it a try in my mission to lose weight and snack on healthier foods. This is perfect if, like me you want something that doesnt break the bank and does its job. I bought this with the innocent smoothie 57 and a half recipes and must say I am glad I did. It is full of great recipes for smoothies, juices etc. One thing to mention is that this smoothie maker is really only for softish fruit - not for apples, carrots etc and they can be in quite a few recipes. I have therefore bought a juicer as well but would have needed to do this had I bought any smoothie maker. The tap can block as mentioned in the other reviews but if this happens you can just pour out from the top so no biggie! All in all, a great, cheap, smoothie maker.4 out of 5Amazon Reviewer05/04/2008 01:01:01

Brabantia50 Litre Chrome Touch Bin.I have an issue with the touch mechanism for opening the bin. 2 are supplied with the bin but they go faulty and fall off (usually) in the bin bag. It`s a pain going through the rubbish to recover it all the time! Apart from that a terrific bin.

Where can I buy bin lids for a 50 litre stainless steel bin? I don`t want to spend another £70 on a complete new bin!

UnbrandedPolished Rectangular 20L Press Top BinThis bin was the only one I could find to fit in the space I had available at 21cm in width. I am on my second bin as the mechanism broke in the lid and I had to replace the whole bin. The mechanism has just broken again after about 6 months use I think without digging out my receipt which I will have to do to change it again. The bin looks and feels great but this one design fault is frustrating. I don`t know who makes it or I would drop them an Email. WahlZX590 James Martin Mini Chopper (ZX590)Blender is OK, easy to clean inside the chopper spindle, unit is easy to clean, bowl a little fragile, better grade of material, better thought to chopper spindle design would help as plastic an metal to not go, one wears quicker than the other, this means once worn the motor will spin and the blade will go nowhere. On the plus side more hygienic than Kenwood, as you can clean inside the chopper. But chop chop not so good, some how does not do it well you always end of with under-chopped bits and over chopped bits, shame !!!!!2 out of 5Amazon Reviewer04/12/2007 01:01:01

WahlZX590 James Martin Mini Chopper (ZX590)what a complete waste of money. I bought two of these - one for me, one for granny and can confirm it CANNOT deal with any of the following ingredients: fresh herbs - turns to a pulp celery - blade gets stuck tomato pieces - even when cut up small - turns to a pulp apple pieces - gets stuck nuts - no way! gets stuck bread - cannot make breadcrumbs unless bread is so stale its gone crispy! garlic - nope onion - a nice array of pulp and big lumps, even when precut So still waiting to find a food it can actually deal with. DUALITCoffee GrinderI bought this grinder as the Starbucks Barista (its REAL name is the Solis 116 - it gets re-badged by Dualit/Starbucks). Ive had it for well over a year, and it is performing as well today as it was when I bought it. So, in all a reliable great value for money grinder, whose misgivings can all be fixed as follows: 1. The it grinds to fine or (as I have found when using it to get a decent espresso) it doesnt grind fine enough problem can be fixed quite simply if youre willing to dismantle it - follow the excellent instructions that can be found by putting grinder tweaks into google. 2. the static problem goes away if you earth the ground outlet with a metal object - which means getting a teaspoon and rubbing it all over the machine (to neutralise the charge the coffee picks up in the tunnel). I do this every so often and dont get problems with static 3. the sliding out drawer can be fixed by wrapping a rubber band around the plastic tongue that sits beneath the drawer. This provides enough friction to keep it in place. My hope is that this may actually help some folk who experience these problems to enjoy their coffee more... 5 out of 5Amazon Reviewer18/09/2008 01:01:01

DUALITCoffee GrinderI just had to come on here and post a wee review of this grinder. I recieved it for my 30th birthday last week (i admit, i chose it then asked people to buy it for me!) Its everything i expected and more. Ive never had such great Crema on my espresso and this is down to the fantastic grind it gives. Ive had the Krups grinder for the last 8 years and thought it was fine, im a bit of a coffee adict (fiend) and have gone from having a few good cups of strong filter coffee a day to three or four espressos a day as they are just so darn good! I dont use an electric coffee maker, i use the Presso hand drawn, rather green friendly coffee machine and this with the fantastic grind im getting is giving me superb shots!!! One thing id better mention, it makes a HUGE difference if you get good coffee beans :) even the best supermarket fair trade beans dont compare to a good freshly roasted source (look about online and im sure youll find places that deliver just like i did.) Well, thats enough rambling, upshot is this machine rocks! Youll not be dissapointed if you get one. PS, large grind is also totally fine, take my word on this! I scoured the internet for about a week looking to get the very best value for money on a grinder! Well done Dualit! Jamie 5 out of 5Amazon Reviewer25/07/2008 01:01:01

BOSCHEgg BoilerExcellent product, though the egg tray on my machine also cracked in several places before eventually breaking. If in need of spares for the egg boiler go to bosch.co.uk and take option `At Home - Household Appliancies`. Then take the option `Main Navigation - Spare Parts`. BREVILLEAnthony Worrall Thompson JuicerI`ve had mine for a few years. Not broken down at all. The only comments are that as the blade becomes more blunt with use, it extracts less juice from the fruit and veg, leaving the pulp wetter. It does separate the `froth` as you pour it from the jug. That`s the whole idea of the internal `shaft`. It does leak a bit here and there but so what. Juicing is a messy business really anyway! It`s all got to be washed and cleaned in the end! All I need is a new blade (still works) but I`ll be back to that super dry pulp and max juice in no time. 4 out of 5Mr. D07/02/2009 09:22:37

DUALITCoffee GrinderI would agree with many of the other reviewers that the coarse grind setting is not coarse enough for cafetiere use. I use setting 3-4 (finer) for espresso use and this works well. Fine for grinding for espresso then but average on cafetiere; it will work but it is not optimal. Also you can get a mild shock from the electric plug when it is disconnected from the mains.4 out of 5Amazon Reviewer20/12/2008 01:01:01

BREVILLEAnthony Worrall Thompson JuicerI`ve had one of these and used it for 4 years now. We`ve got loads of apples and use it only for apple season but very heavily making a gallon or so of juice at a time. We broke one of the Kenwoods in it`s first year but this one has survived with no replacement parts needed. The juice separates on short time standing and we just syphon it to get the clear stuff. If you only want a small quantity of juice this machines not for you but for heavy use it`s pretty good. Haven`t tried to get spares as yet - wish me luck. 4 out of 5Trish19/10/2007 13:13:46

No oil needed, just brown your food and leave to simmer. The one imperfect thing is that the wok does get very hot so if you accidentally touch the side with your arm while stirring - ouch! Good attachments and you can blend, chop, liquidise, grate, whisk etc. The housing unit (bit plasticy) could be a bit stronger though. starts to move about too much if you`re making a stiff batter or dough. 4 out of 5Nazia27/11/2006 10:25:01

Rosemary ConleyCTWK1I went from traditional wok to this one and loved it! It was used every Saturday night for 6 years, and when my children got older they used it if they wanted a stir-fry. I liked the speed with which it reached its cooking temperature, its volume and most of all its height, we did a lot of big stir fries. I never used it to simmer or steam and so cannot comment on the thermoststic controls, mine was alwways on for sti-frying.

Unfortunately the non-stick gave out from the bottom of the pan up to the level at which I would deep fry certain dishes and so I am now replacing the wok. I did find the handles a bit tricky, particulary when emptying out a large stir fry onto a serving dish. I suggest the manufacturer provides a trditional detachable long handle as part of the package

HADEN10183I wanted something that would chop onions, and grate carrots. This does both (well, the carrots are chopped finely rather than grated), though it is small so can only do one medium onion at a time. You have to get all the right bits slotted far enough into the right places, which can be fiddly - and if you dont it wont work. Overall though it does what it says on the tin, for a good price, and doesnt take up much space on the worktop.4 out of 5Amazon Reviewer17/04/2006 01:01:01

JACK LA LANNE1955Excellent `quite` juicer. Most other juicers are quite noisey. It is easy to clean and is of good quaity. There are no gimmicks like free books etc. You get what you pay for. 4 out of 5cowie06/06/2005 21:17:37

SWANpopcorn makerwe love it! it"s quick and easy to use, with little mess. Only problem is it could do with some flavour like sugar. 4 out of 5kayla01/02/2005 10:04:27

KENWOODJE350Easy clean and deals with all types of fruit and veg. Could do with a neater fitting juice collector tumbler as some of the juice is lost down the side of the machine. A half pint glass makes a better job of it!

Brabantia30 Litre Chrome Touch BinLooks lovely and lid opens and closes efficiently in use. Two main flaws 1. the lid catch is prone to breaking under pressure and its difficult to get the spare part. 2. the inner bucket handle easily catches on the bin liner, ripping it. - so don`t over fill it! 3 out of 5G C Cornwall06/08/2007 13:31:56

MAGIMIX14108Good, but can be a pain to clean.. Also pulp stays in basket so you need to clear this often if you are doing more than 4-5 items, but pulp is dry, better than most in that respect, restricted chute so you also need to cut up produce to fit thus you lose some of the juice. Good juicer if you are just starting out. 3 out of 5Fatboygettingslim10/07/2006 10:21:27

Rosemary ConleyCTWK1We bought this wok having read the instructions and understood that the dial setting for the heat had a range from 1 = keepfood warm 3 = simmer right up to high for stir fry. We were very disapointed that the thermostat control had too wide a temperature diferential of 14 degrees. It was imposible to simmer or control the coooking process with continual manual switching of the thermostat. I wrote to the manufacturers with our findings but they were not willing to make any changes to the control and said that we were the complaint received on this problem. Other wise the wok is good for all round heat and capacity but you will have to keep altering the dial if you wish to simmer.

vinersPremier Gold 5pce pan setI have owned two sets of these pans now and both times the handles have fallen off. That said on both occasions Viners have offered to replace them. The set is now withdrawn so i believe it was a designfault as others have also had the same problem with the handles. Not good as it was expensive set at the time and bought with a view to it lasting!!! 2 out of 5Anon26/09/2008 07:30:45

UnbrandedJamie Oliver Flavour ShakerI bought Jamie`s new flavour invention at a Goodwill store in town for $0.79 (brand new)!!!! I can`t believe he`s charging over $30 in Canada!! Haven`t used it yet, but a little skeptical based on the reviews above about the non-durability of the plastic!!! 2 out of 5Crazy Canuk26/09/2008 07:29:55

KenwoodBlender & Mill BL355i bought this blender about 8 months ago, unfortunately i forgot to buy the insurance. The blender is no good value for money. The rubber mill in the middle smells like burning plastic anytime i am using it to blend... it is so bad now that it makes some weird noise when in use. I had to pack it up 2 out of 5Jun26/04/2008 12:55:57

AWTAntony Worrall Thompson Electric Carving KnifeThis is the most dangerous knive i have ever purchased.Although the design is good and the knife easy to use, the mains wire which is approx.1 metre long is to short and gets dangerously close to the blades. If your power points are fitted to your kitchen wall think carefully before you purchase this item. 2 out of 5john , leicestershire28/10/2006 09:44:27

Rosemary ConleyJE7this juicer is great until you try and take the sieve and base off after juicing for cleaning. It is a nightmare. It is so difficult i hurt my back trying, and now i have to wait until my hunky partner can take it apart. I would not recommend this product. 2 out of 5kay14/07/2006 09:08:40

AWTAntony Worrall Thompson Electric Carving KnifeI purchased this knife and found the blades to be very flimsy it was useless and not easy to hold the button down without your thumb acheing I would have returned it and told them it was not fit for purpose but unfortunately my husband lost the receipt - It will probably just be resigned to the rubbish bin. Unbranded30cm Saute/roaster from VinersI purchased this pan via Good House keeping magazine and up until yesterday thought it was fantastic but alas the non stick coating is now peeling off in one place and I can see it starting to lift in other spots. I have always hand washed it and never used a metal utensil with it. Alas I do not know who to contact as it may be guarenteed ? 1 out of 5F.REEVES28/01/2009 15:43:40

UnbrandedAntony Worrall Thompson Meat GrinderI had one of these, it was noisy and took ages to grind meat effectivly, It even managed to set itself on fire while making sausages - which turned out to be the most useful thing it did in it`s life. I don`t think I`ll be buying another, I now assume Antony Worrall Thompson puts his name on any old rubbish. 1 out of 5Dover Dan11/12/2008 09:45:22

RosendahlStainless Steel Magnetic Knife HolderPaid a fortune for this knife holder because it`s European and looks super modern. The magnetic part is a thin layer just glued on. Some knives don`t stick to it well and others get stuck to it almost permanently. I have to pry off my knives and some of the black from the magnetic substance gets stuck on my knife and I have to scratch it off. Really disappointed at this product, expected more from Rosendahl! 1 out of 5Unhappy in USA15/04/2008 09:58:00

JMLPancake MakerThe above is an astute appraisal. It welds the food to its surfaces and when you flip, casts its contents all over the cooker. JML is surely flaunting trades descriptions; `batter scatterer and food burner` would be more accurate. The local Charity shop has two; no surprise. 1 out of 5Linda18/03/2008 09:09:49
