Kitchen Products Buyers Guide
Kitchen products comprise a large number of different domestic items, from household essentials such as kettles, bins and toasters to more exotic accessories including coffee machines, juicers, hostess trolleys and steamers. When buying kitchen products as gifts for a friend or family member, it is always important to consider the environment in which the gifts will be used. For instance, a lovely new modern style kitchen that boasts shiny chrome panels and stainless steel work surfaces will not tend to accommodate a kitschy wooden bread bin or 1970's retro sandwich toaster. Indeed, always buy kitchen products to match the interior decor of the recipient's home – otherwise such presents may find themselves joining the recycling when your back is turned.
When buying kitchen items as gifts for others, it is also important to consider the needs and interests of the recipients themselves. Although you may very much want the latest coffee maker from Delonghi, for example, it is of little value to a recipient who is sworn off caffeine. Likewise, buying a 26cm enamelled cast iron volcanic Le Creuset frying pan would be superb for cooking that perfect steak but, for a vegan this would be completely inappropriate. Thus, the first two rules of buying kitchen products hinge on pretty much the same point: give thought to the recipient and his or her kitchen and lifestyle.
Kitchen items are popular gifts for newlyweds, young couples and individuals who have recently left home, especially those who have left to go to university and need all the help they can get (otherwise it will be cold beans and pasta on the menu each day). Traditional house warming gifts include essential kitchen appliances such as cookers, microwaves, fridges and freezers. Popular manufacturers of these vital kitchen products include Hotpoint, Sharp, Cannon, Bosch, Range, Whirlpool and LG, although the list of popular brands is virtually endless.
Less expensive kitchen gifts tend to include accessories that offer very specific functionality. Indeed, juicers, smoothie makers, blenders, coffee machines and mini choppers are all popular kitchen products that perform unique tasks, which make them ideal first home presents. Bread bins are also essential kitchen products that are so very often underestimated but are, in fact, extremely useful and convenient. Stainless steel bread bins in particular make for attractive and functional gifts. It is not always necessary to buy larger kitchen products or indeed to wait for a special occasion as there are plenty of small, inexpensive accessories that can be purchased out of sheer good will. For example, corn on the cob holders, stainless steel soup meat forks, ergonomically designed tin openers, meat mallets, potato mashers and drinks dispensers are useful accessories that others will gratefully receive.
