BROTHERHL2070NI`ve had a problem with the automatic feeder, and have seen that many people have the same problem, I found my solution, using 24Lb paper instead of the 20LB paper I originally purchased. The Brother recommended paper is 20-24Lb, but from experience you must use 24Lb. And don`t skimp on the quality, as the cheaper paper left LOTS of dust before it finally stopped loading paper altogether. A good ream of HP laserjet 24LB paper fixed it right up. I even tried disassembling it, but all I needed to do was spend a few more $ on better paper. Go cheap on the printer, but always buy quality toner and paper and it`ll live forever! 2,400 sheets so far, and no other problems found. 5 out of 5Huyabusa130007/09/2008 10:01:51

MINOLTAMagicolor 2300I received my Magicolor 2300 just before Christmas 2002, only to discover it was faulty. A replacement delivered on my address ran for 150 copies, then came up with an error that stopped the printing process. Restarting the printer got it going again - for a while. Again helpful service, and now the third printer has arrived. And it works beautifully, turning out top quality colour pages on ordinary copy paper (preferably bright and white).

I am impressed! Highly recommended.

KyoceraFS-1020DA fantastic small laser. It`s done me perfectly whilst I`ve been at university and have needed to print a lot of journal material for course reading. The full duplex function (printing on both sides of the paper) is particularly useful. I too had the problem with constant paper jams a few thousand pages into the life of the printer. This was easily fixed though...I just identified which roller it was that was having problems picking up the paper, cleaned it and then gave it a thorough rubbing with some course sand-paper to give it grip again. I haven`t had a problem since and that was a couple of thousand pages ago. Throughly recommended if you don`t mind giving it a 5 minute service every couple of years! 4 out of 5M Arnold19/03/2007 22:02:21

KyoceraFS-1020DCome on guys! I had the same problem with the original pickup (smooth) roller on the FS-1020D after about 4,000 copies, helpdesk most efficient, sent a replacement ridged roller within three days and printer`s now done another 5000 copies over nine months with no hiccup.

Now, a real problem: how do you clean the red roller to remove the smudges of toner?

KyoceraFS-1020DWell I see many unsatisfied reviews regarding the jamming of this product. It occured to me before the first 6 months of working (I have a busy office). What I did i released the first big grey roller from the upper compartment(next to the toner which has to be removed to access to the roller) and cleaned it throughly with a cloth. To release it just pull out the white plastic circle clip at the end of the roller on the left hand side with a flat screw driver. Take care not to let the circlip fall in the machine or loose it. Then slide gently the roller to the left and up. Clean it with a clean cloth completely for a minute then replace it in the shaft and clip on the circlip. It works for more then 4000 copies. 4 out of 5Ruben Farrugia Malta17/08/2006 21:00:26

BrotherHL2700CNSmart easy to install/use colour laser printer. Good quality prints but some colours are not brilliantly represented from screen to printer (shame) becuase the speed is pretty good even with the 64MB memory as standard. Watch out for the cartridges (takes black, yellow, magenta (red) and cyan (blue) which all cost about £50 each. They are all separate and can be replaced indiviually as required. I can`t help but choke on the cost of the black cartridge being the same as the coloured ones...should be about half the price. Otherwise a good, reasonably priced unit which I have had for nearly 2 years now with no problems at all. 3 out of 5Jay Jones14/05/2007 15:38:09

BROTHERHL 2030I have purchased the laser printer BROTHER HL-2030. There are some good qualities but also some bad ones. The Pros For its price it prints very clearly and sharply. Documents are printed perfectly and even images are of a very acceptable quality. In fact B&W pictures printed at 1200 dpi equal or perhaps surpass the definition of quality magazine pictures. I’ve never had another picture though, so I can only suspect that this is the performance for all similar laser printers. The Cons Unfortunately there are some negative points, that if I knew them I wouldn’t possibly have bought this printer. Firstly all documents come out curled and I have to stretch each page by hand if I am to print on the back of the page. However, even after I have stretched the page and fed it to the manual tray the page is smashed or even torn at the edges. I suspect that this is a serious design defect. Even if one feeds the paper through the automatic page feeder tray the printer tends to grasp two pages at the time or even half a page is printed, thus damaging the first page as well. Something I also found annoying is that there is no software that controls brightness or contrast for windows XP, but only for Windows 98. Lastly, when printing a picture at 1200 dpi and the printer considers that the picture to large for its memory, then it prints it at 600 dpi and prints another page telling you for the change. There is no warning at all for this on your monitor. Everything happens automatically and this way you damage one quality page for a low definition image you didn’t want to print and another page for the message, while it could be simply printed on your screen Conclusion BROTHER HL-2030 is a very good printer, but don’t you try to print double pages or pictures that take up more memory than the printer has. You will end up with smashed or half printed pages, low definition prints and a printed notice of its inability to print the image. I’m not really satisfied with the printer because I might have bought something else of the same standards with less money! 3 out of 5George22/03/2007 12:44:28

KyoceraFS-1020DCommon Kyocera feeding faults. 1) Feed tyre slippage. Initial tyre was from the 1010 and smooth. Higher speed of 1020 causes it to slip and not feed. Kyocera can supply a deep ribbed black or grey tyre to replace the smooth one. 2) Cassette pressure springs slacken and don’t push the paper up to the tyre. You can gently release the lift mechanism in the cassette itself and stretch the springs about 1 inch (Don’t try this if your not mechanically inclined). 3) Early models (1000-1010’s) have a cassette sensor arm that can deform and miss the switch. This will bring up a paper out indicator (not a paper jam indicator) even when there paper is in the cassette. This has to be fixed by a service agent. These should work for all the 1000-1030 series machines. 3 out of 5Mort30/01/2007 17:21:32

EpsonAcuLaser C1900The printer itself works very well, producing good results. The toner and photoconductor doesn't last anywhere near what Epson reckon almost doubling the cost per page!! It takes an age to wake up too! 3 out of 5SPOCE02/04/2004 09:17:09

KyoceraFS-1020DSeems I was less lucky than some - my bottom tray paper roller pickup problems started after way less than 1000 copies. Will try some of the tips here. Also have regular smudges down the side and middle or page and tried everything to get rid of them but no success so far. SamsungML1610The paper keeps jamming, even new high quality laser paper, and there`s nothing to free the mechanism so you can unjam it. KyoceraFS-1020DMy experience is exactly the same - great specification and worked without problem for 12 months, now it gets paper jammed anywhere along the paper pathway without any apparent logic or precipitating factors. KyoceraFS-1020DI agree with the other reviews. My FS-1020D worked fine for first 6 months and now jams constantly. I am an IT Manager and have worked many different makes and models of printer. This model has to be one of the most frustrating which is shame because the reviews it got when it first came out were A-List. CanonLBP5200Canon built a page counter into it. Toner save is useless. Once you exceed the number of pages, the printer locks up. They have a `smartchip` so you can`t print any more, even if there is still plenty of toner. Suggestion: Buy Kyocera instead. 1 out of 5James E04/06/2007 18:52:06

KyoceraFS-1020DHmmm evidently I am not alone! After a year`s worth of extremely light usage and having just passed the warranty period it started to jam. Jam to the point where I was thinking is it even worth me clicking print!?! I work in the IT industry and have come across numerous problems with printers but none like this, where there seems to be no logic as to why it would stop picking up paper and if it did jamming somewhere along the path. Users shouldn`t have to resort to cheap fixes by getting their hands dirty removing poor quality rollers, I shall not be buying Kyocera again. It`s an economical printer because I`ve turned it off! 1 out of 5FS-1020D Problems29/05/2007 08:10:41

KyoceraFS-1020DOur Kyocera Mita FS-1020D seems to have gone the same way as others mentioned here. Worked great for 6-8 months then started jamming contantly at the paper cassette (the bottom tray). I tried thoroughly cleaning the large black `pick up` roller to remove paper `sheen`, but no improvement. I bought it based on a PC Pro mag `A` list recommendation. Bad idea, or bad luck?. KyoceraFS-1020DI agree with all the previous comments. I bought this machine as the early reviews were quite good but it also looked good for the environment (energy and Duplex - save paper). It worked fine for a year or so (very light usage) then I had to replace the toner (before it ran out) as there was smearing. Now it won`t pick up paper from Cassette 1 (the bottom feed tray). The only way that I can still use it is using the front feed which means that the Duplex capability is not available. I would not buy a Kyocera again as there doesnt seem to be any way to repair it - so much for the environment!!!!! 1 out of 5Globalforester17/08/2006 21:01:17

KyoceraFS-1020DFirst off, it seems great, quick enough, good driver and sharp prints but after one toner life or so the paper jamming began or failing to pick up the paper at all. No pattern to it as others have said tried different paper and locations incase of too hot/cold damp drafty etc. I have to say I have never seen such awful jamming before and I have worked within the Printers/consumables industry for about 7 years. Return to base warranty at this price is dissapointing! I will never buy Kyocera again.

KyoceraFS-1020DI have purchased 3 Kyocera FS1020d and all three have experienced serious paper path problems resulting in jams after printing around 5,000 pages - the printer was exceptionally reliable until that point and then exceptionally unreliable. KyoceraFS-1020DThis failure appears to be standard (mine lasted 9-months of very light use). MINOLTA2200 DesklaserI have the Minolta 2200 Desklaser in my company for one year.

+ The print quality of color printout is good and there the good things end. - 1st of all there is one thing to do first - to upgrade the firmware of the printer, otherwise the "Cancel" button cancels the job, but hungs the printer in the same time. - The "Warm Up" time is tooooooo long, I disabled all the powersavings. - The printing media handeling is not flexible, I found no solution, if I accidently set in application that the media is Letter, instead of A4 or A5 (or vice versa) - the printer just asks the media type, but if there is no tray configured for this media there is no way to give it. Feeding A3 as A4 will jam the printer. - Web based management of the printer is almost useless. - The biggest problem for me is the fact, that the margins and nonprintable areas on not much as you describe them on the page setup of application. Lot of work to get correct layout on preprinted forms or labels. What You See Is Not What You Get.
