Well, I had owned a philips tv before buying this one and frankly thought it was amazing. When it passed on i decided to go for a newer Philips, in the hope of seeing my Playstation 3 play games in ultra high clarity. Sadly the screen quality of this tv is really quite poor, even through HDMI the picture looks like a badly upsacled youtube video (I have tried many cables). Such a dissapointment. I have tried almost every different option on the remote to improve the pic, but to no avail. Also from different angles (ie not face on) the colours look ridiculously desaturated. If anyone who has this tv knows of a secret button that improves the screen quality of an hdmi source, please tell me. As things stand, a good looking tv with a poor picture. Avoid if youre a gamer.

This is a brilliant tele and when watching HD transmissions, the picture is simply unbeatable. Great with an upscaling DVD player (only a complete nerd would be able to distinquish between other TVs), and gaming through a 360 is stunning. Go get one!

However, even without lots of comparisons to go by, I find this Philips set quite superb: the design is excellent; the connectivity is very good; the sharpness and clarity of the picture is magnificent; the sound (I have to disagree with reviewers who found it poor) first rate. I was debating a purchase of either this Philips or a similarly priced Panasonic. Im sure the Panasonic is also top notch, but I have no regrets whatever about my choice. If you are wobbling between this set and another, have no fear of choosing the Philips.

Reviewed by: Amazon Reviewer Rating: Date Reviewed: 25Jan2009 | | | I just bought this tv today, and it was awesome value, sounds great, looks great and supports 1080p and has 4hdmi ports..... Xbox 360 looks great on it though HDMI.... The only problem so far, it took a while to get a picture that i liked and even now im still messing about with it.
Reviewed by: Stiv Rating: Date Reviewed: 19Jan2009 | | | Although Philips seem to be less and less visible in the high street, this is a top quality product, packaged in perhaps the neatest design of the current LCD TVs. I am really not sure what the problem is with Philips. I have met many of their engineers and designers through my work and they include the best in the world. It seems to be an issue with marketing and top-level management. Anyway, I sought this one out because my own 7.... series has done me proud for a year or more, and I wanted a slightly less expensive TV of similar quality for my mother. As with mine, it was easy to set up, but with an even cleaner design than my just over a year old model. Maybe Philips needs to come up with a new brand name. But this TV is a star and really _ought_ to be more visible as one of the market leaders.
