The only reason i havent given it 5* is because the first set we ordered had line of dead pixels right down the centre of the screen. However - it was hastily replaced by amazon (fantastic and speedy service, inc free delivery and collection of the old set)
Brilliant for Blu-ray and for 1080p PS3 gaming - it replaced a 32` Hyundai set, and I was amazed at the difference in picture quality. Deffinitely reccommended!

Games look superb on it it does get dusty but who cares it takes nothing to wipe it with a cloth overall a fantastic tv well worth the price good job sony you amazed me yet again !

I had a Sony Wega for nearly 8 years and thought that had a good picture so I stayed with Sony for my new TV and so glad I did because this flat screen 40 inch is Brilliant. It is so sharp and full of colour and very easy use hence I am very pleased with it. Money well spent!!

+ Crisp image on screen and easy menu system to navigate. looks lovely! Does what it says on the box and in all the other + reviews Ive read.
- My only minor complaint would be that the cable tidy is trickier to use than it should be and its not straight forward as Id like to fix the base to the TV. As another reviewer mentioned the TV does lean forward slightly, but you get used to it. The sound is a little dissapointing, sounds a little flat (small speakers I guess) but 5.1 should sort that out.
However this is a great TV after 2 months use Im v.happy. The size and clarity of the picture makes films look amazing. I cant wait until I hook up a Blue Ray player.

Really impressed with this TV. Had a 32` Phillips before, there is no comparison, the picture quality on the Sony is miles better. Easy to set-up, sound quality is good, we have bought a Sony Home Theatre system HT-SF1300 to enhance it even more, its like being in a cinema in our own home now. We have also got Sky-HD set-up, the picture and sound quality is amazing. Made the mistake years ago not to buy Sony and went for cheaper option, never again, sometimes it pays to pay for the best in the long run.Sony KDL-40V4000 - 40` Widescreen 1080P Full HD Bravia LCD TV - With Freeview

Having purchased this television from Amazon I was extremely pleased with both the TV and the service I received from Amazon. The delivery arrived exactly when it was meant to and the packaging was very good. The television itself was so easy to set up and I also purchased a Sony DVD player with it and have to say the quality of both are excellent. This was the first time I had shopped with Amazon and would highly recommend them for their superb service. I will definately shop with Amazon in the future for anything I am thinking of buying.

After much browsing and reading of AVforums i was worried. Lots of people stated that the tv had horrible ghosting so i thought i would clarify this. this tv has horrible ghosting if you use a rubbish signal and put it on analogue tv. Digital is good better then average and depending on the channel can be great. On Blu ray and PS3 games via a gold plated HDMI cable this tv is superb no input lag and the blu ray display through my ps3 took my breath away. all i can say is that this tv is a solid buy even at 800 its not too bad. but then again i got mine for 500. great tv worth the wait even if amazons service this time round was low standard.

bought this tv after lots of research and a bad experience with a toshiba lcd tv(see my review of that on here also) after viewing many in local shops , this and the samsung stood out the most for the price range , i opted for the sony as i personally thought the picture was just a little crisper and i also liked the idea that it linked in with my sony 1080 upscale dvd player , which when playing dvds on you get to see the real perfomance of the full hd picture , really is as near to blue ray as you can get. have had no problems with the tv , all very easy to set up , very easy to use and a quality picture. the reviews this tv gets from many sites says it all , id say it is the top 1080p lcd tv for its price range.

The TV is ok very user friendly Comparing to many others. But I didnt like it 100% infact I do prefer Samsung. One simple point I didnt like the Sony is the standby button. If I switch off the TV it will show the red light on TV but Samsung will not as it will turn off completely and after I still can use the remote control to switch on the TV. Well so far so good. The speed of changing the channel Sony is much quicker and the colour contrast is just great. Anyway Amazon always got good price but I do sugguest check before sometimes high street will have a better deal although not very offen.

No other words than excellent - Im no techno wiz and so like simple things, gadgets to do what they need to do withou hassle or effort (ie. reading the manual) from me!
This TV is excellent value for me and - BEST OF ALL - it self-installs, just plug in, switch on and the TV does the rest, finding the channels, tuning in and saving them including the former-Freeview ones.
The picture can he slightly dodgy due to the HD and mega-pixels (whatever!) so some older films and TV shows might look a alittle grainy and the image can be disorted if very dark on screen but DVDs play great!
The sound is terrific.... I could go on but you get the drift - buy, sit back and enjoy whatever you want to watch on a really big telly!!

Theres no doubt that the Sony Bravia TVs have the blackest blacks around but I had to return this TV as the colour balance was so poor! Bright reds glowed an orange/salmon colour and dark reds were pink but there is no adjustment for this. After 2 days of messing around I ended up setting the colour to the lowest point above B&W.
HD looks good but shimmers a little. SD has some of the worst motion lag Ive seen in a while, especially from the built-in Freeview tuner. HDMI sources can be viewed in 2 modes: full pixel which gives you a black border or normal which crops and softens the image significantly.
Sound is OK but Ive heard better!
The equivalent Samsung uses the same panel and has more adjustments so go for that instead or try Toshiba who give you much more picture settings (and a handy reset button to restore default settings!).
