Our microwave oven came with all other siemens products purchased with our
new kitchen. We chose siemens because we believed we were buying
quality-how wrong were we?! The first thing to go was the dishwasher after
less than 18months so was luckily covered by the 2 yr warranty, then it
was the turn of the microwave which unfortunately was one month outside
the warranty. Now bearing in mind how infrequently our microwave is used,
I wrote to Siemens `customer service` to ask if as a goodwill gesture, as
we had already experienced a problem with the dishwasher, would they
repair the microwave free of charge-I never even got a reply to my letter!
I checked to see if they had received it which they had, but were not
willing to do anything except sell me insurance at #189 per year! I should
also mention that my mother in law has this same model of microwave
(bought after us)and had a different fault within 3 months of purchase.
You have been warned, Siemens appliances are NOT as reliable as they would
have you believe on their website. I am now dreading my oven breaking down
as this was the most expensive of the 5 Siemens appliances in our
kitchen.
