Bottom fell out - looks good does not deliver

I have had my blender for about a year now. Used irregularly, maybe once a fortnight, it has leaked a little since the first few uses and has gradually got worse. Whilst washing it yesterday, the whole bottom came out which revealed broken bits of plastic and an eroded seal. Very disappointed; as another user pointed out, this was a Good Housekeeping approved machine which is why my Mum bought it for me in the first place.

Possibly the worst product Ive ever bought. The blender started leaking almost immediately. It appears the blade assembly is made from an inferior plastic that with only modest use began to develop hairline cracks. Ice cubes were the last straw prompting the blade assembly to come apart in big lumps of plastic. Do yourself a favour and buy something else - anything else in fact!

It appears that this product has a design flaw, as, judging by the other reviewers many people have suffered with the same problem. I have had the item for less than 9 months and have only used it very intermittently, it has, however begun to leak, making it a liability to use. Not what I expect for £40.
